The Tom Scully Saga

Recommended Posts

The mods can tell you it isn't me (IP address).

Nice try, that's way too easy to spoof...but I'll take your word for it anyway.

My favourite was songwriting stewie... I have never watched FG but it was a classic take on the diatonic chord progression...

Oh cool, another 10 page Tom Scully thread.

Didn't he say that he wanted to hold off talks until the end of the season, and increase his value with good second year form?

That suggests he's trying to get more money out of Melbourne. I can't imagine GWS paying more than $800k a year for him, and he would be likely to get (at the moment) about $300k at Melbourne? Can easily push that up to $400k a year at Melbourne by playing great footy this year. Doubt GWS would do an increase like that. An offer of $800k early this year would turn into $850k, maybe. That's just my opinion, though.

My comments are pure poppycock?

I'm still waiting for you to make a contribution of value.

It's always just sarcastic or demeaning jibes, but never offering much of an opinion.

What's it like there on the sidelines? Afraid to get into the game?

Anyway, still can't remember who it was, but they've been people involved in AFL coaching, whose opinion I respect a hell of a lot more than yours.

It's something I've taken notice of, and in quite a lot of cases it has proven to be true.

Maybe you're taking it a bit literally...

you break me up Artie (or is it E25?)

Hmmm. Two computers ... Two IP addresses?

Not necessarily, but it is one possibility of many.

I've got work, home, and iphone and I am sure that the mods are comfortable with saying that they have never seen those three IPs under another name.

Just don't need to.

rpfc is doing the job of multiple posters anyway...

Is there any danger in the world that one day will pass without a new fawning, sycophantic thread pleading for Tom Scully to remain at the club?

Enough already!

Here here - together with the breathless announcements regarding Todd Viney's progress towards manhood

I took your word for it the first time... just stating fact.

Conversely, sometimes I suspect the volume of posting by some could only be explained by a team of posters.

No and No. I can categorically state that it is not rpfc. The poster has been warned accordingly within the guidelines of Demonland.

Now please, let's move back to the topic.

Surely Todd's reached puberty by now :-)

Do we have to?

Ok then... During the north melbourne game I was sitting in the players area - or rather where many of injured etc players and wags were sitting. Tom was sitting away from the group with an older gentleman (I suspect his father?) and was certainly "isolated" from the group.

Tom Scully - Good player or Great player?

Discuss.

Good player currently on the verge of an exciting time with a plethora of similar aged players and a club of second-to-none supporters who love their club with so much passion for what their club is embarking on....the pursuit of a flag and greatness for the red & blue. One who may well one day be a 'great player' in a great football team. A team that will ply it's trade so well on the greatest football ground in Australia.

One that will follow in the footsteps of the good work undertaken 'til now.

The media just edge their bets with this type of rubbish.

1st they will say he is going to create hype

2nd they will say he has signed a HOA

then if he goes they will say i told you so and if you stays they will say well he signed a HOA and changed his mind.

Its ridiculous.

If Tom has signed a HOA all means is that his management have locked in the terms with them - it does not at mean that he wanted to go in the first as they will clearly wait for other offers to be tabled with the intention of all along staying at the demons.

Personally i do think he would of signed anything and we should trust the kids word.

How is Chewy, Wheels ?

You may remember my dog with the ultra long tongue - Hannabal ? She died last year. Anyone ever had a 15 year old family dog put to sleep at your home while she lay on your lap ?

I've not been the same.

16 year old border collie 2 weeks ago.

I've not been the same.

In the space of 3 months last year I had my best mate randomly fall and fatally crack his skull, my 14yr old cat go down in 1 day, and my father suffer complications from heart valve surgery to the point where he was almost lost three times. I've alot more grey now, and feel your pain.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
