I reckon Drop him and give him a run in Casey for a few week. I am worried he looked like did not want to be there at all on Saturday. I hope he can bounce back and reignite the passion and hunger again.

I'm pretty strong on this. You cannot have a member of the leadership group setting the bar that low. Form alone is bad enough but Flash has a history of poor body language and he will already be distrcated this week by the fact that he knows Carlton will target him, as they did so succesfully last year.

Needs a 'mental spell' to ease the pressure and show he can still impose himself. Can't do that at the AFL level given the way he is going.

Hello from Phuket,34 degrees,mmm.

With all our injuries, give him another week and give him a run with role on a Murphy/Yarran or else he'll be hunted again. So he's taken to the ball by Murphy,Gibbs,Yarran and when there's a turnover he hurts them the other way.Other than that, stick him in the forward pocket where he first became so dangerous.Remember years ago,it was Flash who first started Forward tackling pressure.

Exactly.

Looked like he didn't want to be there, and that's exactly how he played.

No commitment to the contest, the team and a severe lack of discipline on display. Unprofessional. Not the sort of attitude we want our young brigade to follow from here.

2 - 3 weeks Casey at the very least. Let him think about it. And set a new standard for this club. No one should be above our non-negotiables. Proves to ourselves, our boys and to some degree our opposition, that a display like this is unacceptable at our Club. Begins to "become" part of our culture going forward.

Beamer was made an example of when he let the team down OFF the field a few weeks back yes? Davey let the team down ON the field....potentially even more destructive/damaging to team moral etc IMO.

If Davey isn't dropped, surely this sends a conflicting message to the playing list. If i let the team down ON the field....it's ok then right!? What makes Aaron more special?

P.S. Nicely said up there too QueenC

Yeah, you make good points. It's difficult to make the decision with so many injuries at present, but I think your right. He should go back to Casey. So with that I'd like to see another rookie get his call up. Nicholson!!!

I would have dropped him last season after the Bulldogs loss, and have been evil-eyeing his place ever since.

He came fourth in the B+F last year after winnig it the year before

Deserves to be dropped at this stage for his poor season but let's not talk utter garbage and rewrite history shall we

Ive mentioned this in the other thread ..and willtoo here ..as Im just interested to know whether Imflying a flag on my own here or if others can see this.

My first gut reaction, like many , is to drop the guy. But then I thought...what would I be trying to accomplish by doing so. ans..to punish him. To make him understand that his efforts and attitude just isnt acceptablle.

But then I got to thinking ..is this just giving him an easy way out. A weekend holiday in the magoos ?

Often at training seesions whterh sport or otherwise, and especially the military ..if you stuff up your punishment is EXTRA duties..not halving it.

I am stil lof the thinnking that maybe the lesson is to up the ante and have him reverse not only his attitude but his role. Double up. Make him hunt..and negate someone. Make him run harder, worrk harder. Do the dirtier work, not the glamour kicking !!

Others have already either laughed or berated me for such a suggestion (as is their want )

He needs mental toughness...he in my mind lacks it..He talks a great talk..happy to look over his shoulder at others comments but hey Aaron.. we can all see you out there. !!

I think his pennance ought to be out there , before his peers, before teh club and its supporters, not hidden away.

He could make a serious step towards reclainimg respect and self esteem.

just my view

Previous leaders/senior players of the club such as Robbie, Geepa, Toddy, Jimma did not display that sort of character. Whilst they all had slow patches or bad games we should never accept that sort of faux-pas by a senior player. Back to Casey for 2 games, minimum. Then re-earn respect.

He can do it too!

Go through my posting history, I maintain that he hasn't played a genuinely good game by his standards since 2009. The Bulldogs game was particularly bad - he dropped his head early and never got into the game at all.

I reckon he'll have a week off with the knee. If he was fit I'd play him.

He has copped a shellacking and he'll respond l'm sure don't let him blitz at Casey instead of at the G

I think he needs a reminder of where he came from and what it took to get here. If he wants to be an MFC Captain,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well,,,,,,,,,,, back to Casey for some soul searching mate.

No Belzebub, it's not just punishing davey. The bigger message is being sent to the whole group. If we can punish a leadership player when we are running short of players, for such a soft play, then we will drop anyone who doesn't stand for the Team Values...

There's no point going through your posting history.

You'd be wrong.

Alright, name me a game that he's had that has been anywhere near his best since the start of last season.

Each week we should ring our opposition to find out if they plan to tag Davey. If they are going to, then we shouldn't play him as whenever he gets tagged he simply doesn't work hard enough to break that tag or gives up, becomes the equivalent to having a man down. Granted he may then play every week in the 2's then so be it, call that opposition and tell them to tag him so he can learn what it takes to break a tag. I would rather play the man down in the 2's than I would the 1's.

If Davey some how manages to hold his spot then he should be moved forward and given a defensive role on Yarran. That way he's forced to be accountable and if Yarran's cutting us to pieces then it's obvious to everyone just how hard Davey's working. Yarran has shown to that he struggles with a tag so if Davey really does put in the hard yards he should be able to keep him under wraps which will go a long way to us causing an upset. Also in this type of a role Davey would only need half a dozen to a dozen disposals to hurt the opposition with 3 or 4 goals.

However in my opinion this role should be given to Petterd and Davey should be sent to Casey for at least 2 weeks with Bennell where the 2 of them can work on their hardness/toughness and team play.

I'd rather see Blease & Strauss be given games to fast track their development (even if they're yet to fully prove themselves at Casey) then Davey given another game and Bennell recalled after only 1 week out and Casey had the bye anyway.

Edit: spelling

You are right Striker475 From memory he has had one reasonable game the rest have been poor, With Saturday terrible.

Teams now know he is easily tagged out of the contest and it does not even take a great tagger.

You do realise he is including 2010 in that notion?

A year Aaron came 4th in the Bluey? A year I do not remember having such a dim view of him?

It started last year, in the game against carlton they tagged him out.

I think it was evident last year and now everyone knows it.

Not sure how he gets around the problem but if he does not learn how to defeat a tag we may have seen the best of him.

His form this year is a large part of our problem.

he is one of our senior players ( vice captain )that should be leading the team, showing the juniors.

But what we have is a guy taken out of games by taggers and he is now looking petulant and giving little.

In fact he has cost dearly in important parts of games.

His kicking used to be superb but it has gone missing in most of the games this year.

I just think he needs a game or two at Casey to get some perspective back.

Yes and he is one of the reasons we are not doing well this year.

Last year is now history, just another year the MFC finished in the wrong half of the ladder.

How long do you keep playing him because he used to be great?

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
