Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If the Club want to "stand for something", they must back up their comments. Drop him and we know what the Club expects, keep him in and we know what they accept.

Only thing that I would consider is making him sub, but he'd wanna put in a hard week on the training track to even be considered.

I don't our injury list to be an excuse. A bloke like Blease would be champing at the bit to get out there and prove himself after a horror couple of years. I get a feeling by his tweet that he believes he is a chance this week.

I don't want to monster the bloke, or condemn him etc... The environment within the squad needs to be one of encouragement and challenge. But there is a line that has been crossed with Aaron and that has to do with courage, intensity, attitude and because of his position - leadership.

But we need to be careful. He is a huge influence among the indigenous boys and if he feels unwanted or condemned, it may rub off on Jurrah, Bennell etc... who are already struggling.

Casey for 2 weeks for mine, nad bring him back in close to goal.

Definitely, the club cannot continue to tolerate rubbish performances just because of reputation.

This is much more about the Club, than Aaron himself.

We must start NOW,,,, to stamp out the soft criteria Melbourne has allowed for decades. If we are to stop the soft Image this Club carries as It's creed,,, then It must start/stop Now. Start to drop the players who put in "Short steps"... Start to HTFU the expectations of our players.

We are complicate with the soft development of players like Green, Davey, Morton, Bennell, +++++++++... It's gotta stop!

1 step, this week. Make a statement, drop a leader. Davey Out!

Aaron Davey has never been able to handle a tag, but watching him around the ground and some of his efforts where just un acceptable not only for a leader but for an afl player.

Andrew Carazzo will tear him to pieces against carlton. I think he must be dropped a statement must be made by the club even if he is one of our best and a "leader".

At best have him as a sub.

And what happens if we need our sub in the first 10 minutes?? All is forgotten....

No Aaron must spend 1-2 weeks at casey to sort out his priorities.

I can fully understand why people are calling for Davey to be dropped, however I don't agree. Davey was bad on Saturday but lets be honest we are HOPELESS. As a leader he needs to respond this week. One bad week, and one particularly bad effort, should not warrant a player who has been a good servant of the club to be dropped. I am really keen to see how he responds this week

Let him respond at Casey....Then we will really know where his preferences are at.

The week before he was almost as bad SD, he has a lot more poor games than good ones so far this year.

I completely understand the reasons for wanting to drop him and any other week I think I would agree, however, I just really hate Carlton and badly want to win on Friday night.

If there is a chance with all the criticism this week that Aaron comes out and has a blinder, lets his football to the talking, and Melbourne steal a famous win. I want to take that chance.

It shouldn't matter a toss who we are playing. I too hate Carlton, but if I were Coach, and am trying to gain/maintain respect from the playing group, I would drop him.

Our players like Sylvia and Jones, get on their Twitter accounts and continue to preach to us about making a stand, and that we as a Club must stand for something, this is the time to show we are like Extreme, in that we are more than words.

What if he doesn't respond this week. Do we send him to Casey then? Why risk it? Why not just put him there this week instead of delaying it by a week. If he answers his critics in the 2's this week, then the whole issue is that much closer to being resolved one week earlier.

If he doesn't respond then drop him but he has been one of our better players over the last couple of seasons. I have faith that Aaron Davey will play well this week. He gets tagged week in week out for a reason, he is a good AFL footballer and our most damaging player. Playing well in the 2's will mean nothing as he is clearly way too good for that standard. Anyway we have no competition for spots at the moment. Newton, Bate, Joel Mcdonald, Warnock, Bartram would struggle to play for any other side whereas Davey, although out of form currently, would make any side in form. Melbourne are in the business of winning games and lets be honest it was his "squib" of a contest on the weekend which has been the cataylst for people calling him to be dropped. It did cost us a goal but Bartrams butchering cost us a couple of goals as well. No one is calling for his head

-butchering is not the same as playing soft. big difference

-it wasnt just the squib, it was the 50, a number of soft refusals to take position/absorb tackles and overall terrible body language/leadership

-Batram's not in the leadership group

that's the difference

There is not going in hard enough - which I sometimes see and sometimes dont and then there is blatently pulling out of a contest. It was diagonally across the ground from me and had to ask my mate if i saw what i thought i saw - knowing what the answer would be.

It is unacceptable from a player of his years and being in the LG - when it is your turn to go - you go.

It presents an unacceptable statement to the rest of the group.

The two's it is for me

Good players respond well to criticism and rise above it. I'd give him this week and tell him its now or back to Casey for a minimum 3 week stint not a token game. Im sure he has a lot of pride and challenging that pride might bring back his best as we really do need it.

Remember form is temporary but class is permanent.

Posted this in the Aaron Davey thread, but equally applicable here.......

The unfortunate reality as I see it is that he has always been required, and has played well enough often enough to justify his selection. That is quite obviously no longer the case.

Appalling attitude, numerous poor and extremely costly performances and what seems to be a complete incapability to lead means he can no longer justify his ongoing automatic selection.

We have been through this with "sacred cows" as Range Rover put it earlier in this thread, in the past, and we can't and shouldn't support that any further.

He (as well as few others) needs to be told in no uncertain terms that what he is putting out there in skill as well as (and maybe more importantly) attitude and leadership is completely

unacceptable to this team. He is no longer a protected species, and must at the very least try to perform or he will suffer the same fate of a lesser (for want of a better word) player.

Now we all want him to be back to his best, to be accountable to the team and the match and to lead, but right now his inclusion is only justified on a very long past reputation, and that is no longer good enough.

Dropping him would be ideal, but part of me thinks making him the sub could be even better.

He gets embarrassed by appearing with the green vest in front of the massive Friday night audience, he realises that's it time to pull his finger out... and (most importantly) he could have a real impact with his leg-speed late in the piece against Carlton.

It seemed to work with Watts.

Having said all this, if he's listed as an "Out" Thursday night, I won't be unhappy.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
