Our forwards are getting shocking delivery.

Norths superior midfield players are simply too good for us again.

Moloney has been tagged out of the match. Dunn has had the worst game i've ever seen him play.

Jetta is simply too small. Gysberts needs another preseason, Wonna is not fit enough.

Positives-

Maric has been good with limited opportunity

Jurrah has been good without being great.

Newton has played well.

Agreed. Martin hasn't been disgraced given the circumstances.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jurrah just get the handball off then. Screw the umpires round. They're useless.

He bounced when he was tackled.

It is funny how its umpires round and judging by last nights game and todays game, it has gone to their head.

bloody hell they are toying with us the kangas.... hooodoo indeed why the hell is that?? this is sad and once again they are gonna get hammered by the media. way to put urselves under pressure again MFC same old roller coaster ride we are used to i didnt want to believe it but how many times do we have to endure this roller coaster we need consistency and now i know thats an understatement (the inuries definately dont help though in saying that :( )

At least I am showing more spirit than the Demons out there on the field.

Easy to say from behind a keyboard.

Feel that they've been really thrown by the Trengove decision. Tentative tackling, hesitant to put their bodies in or go in hard.

poor excuse.

worst thing that could've happened was that blitzing first term. Went to the Demons' heads and they lifted the foot off the pedal expecting the result was just gonna happen. 5 goal margin is nothing in footy these days (unless its us who are 5 goals down).

Shocking performance, cruel luck with injuries. Brad Green, Aaron Davey, Brent Moloney and Lynden Dunn hang your heads in shame.

Yep, Anderson & Demetriou would be rapt about this. Shows what they can do to any side who tries to buck the dictatorship.

If you were reading the post from the start, you would have read that I was at home looking after my son and could not attend... So dont sit there and take stupid pot shots at me because I am [censored] off with the way they performed today.

If that threw them, then we are already in worse trouble than I even thought

It's a real shame that the severity of our injuries will kill our season I think.

Massive shame.

would have thought Davey was one of our better players today, not that the bar was raised that high by the rest

I certainly wouldn't have

That is not an excuse, if it was the Melbourne Football Club should cease to exist.

They went in hard during the First Quarter and got Rewarded. This team continues to be soft away from the MCG.

If Bailey & Co do not address this problem very quickly we will have new coaches next year.

lol, spot on there.

Yeah, because a 3 week ban is worse than Grimes & Spencer missing the season along with Jamar missing potentially 6 weeks.

Ok, I apologise for not reading the 8 pages of comments before responding to your comment. We are all unhappy with their performance, just that some of us prefer to keep it a little under control.

So you're going to sit there and take stupid pot shots in retaliation?

Vent away, by all means, but post after post of mindless slagging off gets a bit tiresome.

Add Sylvia to that and you're on the money. Also Jones to a slightly lesser extent

Yep they have done a good job. Hard when you have so many others who have poor games.

We simply can't have so many of our regular passengers while our senior players go missing. Really needed some more size in the middle.

If that were the case, it would show that Melbourne are not on track in being contenders in the coming years.. so out of the 44-46 players we only have 22??

While on the face of it the loss is disappointing it is not unexpected.

We went into the game without Jamar (AA ruckman) and three walk up starts in our midfield (Scully, Trengove and McKenzie).

As the logical replacement for Jamar, Spencer had done a knee, we had to fall back on Martin, a part time green ruckman.

This was against a top ruck on Goldstein.

The signs were ominous.

Then during the game we lost Garland for a knee injury, Bail to a PCL and Jurrah hobbling with a calf. That left us with 19 fit men, a taped up structure and no lack of fresh legs as the game went on.

But it does fully excuse the lack of effort shown after the first 20 minutes.

However, questions should still be asked when the chips are down, where are our senior players? We do look good when we could play on our terms but when it gets tough, our champion senior players dissolve under pressure.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
