I'm thinking no weeks, but am happy to let JT make the call on the slur against him.

Did the umpires refer this to the MRP as they surely saw the tackle?

Geez Matty Whelan would have been suspended for 20 weeks for his smother on Nathan Brown these days.

Sling tackle on Dangerfield

Pretty stiff I would have thought

Huge loss

Pretty stiff, what a load of bullsh#t. Didnt realise we were playing netball. Pathetic and soft, well done review board!!!!

you doing anything tomorrow night daisycutter QC?

We need to get Darryl Kerrigan's lawyer Dennis Denuto pronto!

He'll show them the vibe and prove to them they were dreaming

Jarryd Waite kicks a bloke in the Cod area in Round 1 and is free to play the following week. Trengove gets 2 weeks for a tackle going for the ball.

My thoughts exactly. Absolute joke if this stands.

Would have a better chance if Mick Gatto took on the job.

Injury report - Okay, forgive me for being Dees-biased, but they've based it off a Crows report, not an independent one.

Since a few people have mentioned the Crows medical report, I'm not sure it's a big deal. I'm fairly sure we provided a medical report when someone hit Jones the other week.

My God is AFL being serious!?!?!? When are they going to wake up and realize that the fans want their players going hard for the ball!! I understand that a lot of the big hits are a thing of the past but this was a tackle laid by a young player with clean record and they give him a suspension like that!! Can you believe that he would have actually been better off taking him out behind play like Brown?? What kind of a message are they trying to send?? MFC must challenge.

I really think that the petty off-the-ball stuff should get a massive weighting compared to 'in play' incidents like the Trengove tackle on Dangerfield.

I thought the Tambling and Waite incidents were pretty poor.

These guys at the MRP are a bloody joke.

So inconsistent.

No way was it intentional other than the very act of tackling at all.

They obviously want the Saints and Roos to have an easier run in the next fortnight.

I didn't hear and Adelaide fans complaining at the time - oh, hang on, I didn't hear and Adelaide fans full stop!!

just watching one week at a time where Brad Green is the special guest, Robert Walls could not believe that Trengove has been suspended let alone get 3 weeks. He said thats the way you should tackle and he wouldnt have meant to hurt Dangerfield on purpose.

He, quarters and darcy compared trengove with what campbell brown did when he was hitting players behind the play. Said melbourne should definitely appeal and he should get off.

They showed some tweets from players about it and Joel Selwood said it was a joke although he had appeared to take it off his twitter probably didnt want a fine. But hopefuuly we appeal.

Posted

He shouldn't be suspended for a perfect tackle, it was just bad luck Dangerfields head hit the ground.

Jack should win on appeal.

This is where the MRP points system fails badly. I understand the AFL wanting to stamp out the sling tackle, as it can cause serious injury however had this incident been look at in isolation rather than with the points system they would've assessed it as something that requires a warning of "if you continue this behaviour we'll come down on you like tone of bricks", but instead with the ridiculous points system he is given 3 effing weeks with a challenge?!

Every match he has played has been fair and in the spirit of the game, he has never gone the man and acquits himself exactly how an AFL player should.

What a joke.

I just watched the footage - Trengove definitely trapped Dangerfield's right arm against him and slung him around, but the fact that Dangerfield was attempting to kick it would have made slinging him easier as he had both feet off the ground, resulting in Dangerfield being slung further around and (unfortunately) face first.

The thing is, Trengove got up and did the exact same thing to Brodie Smith a couple of seconds later, who landed on his side, and I'd say it's because Smith was trying to handball it - a sensible decision that Dangerfield didn't make.

Posted

Well Dal Santo just tackled Curnow pinning both arms and took him to the ground popping his shoulder out, must be about to get 6 for that, his head hits the ground too, maybe 12 then.

Posted

This is such rubbish.

The reason he has been suspended is because Dangerfield got injured because of it.

If that's the basis for being suspended, why then did Kennedy get off for breaking Sylvia's jaw, or Judd for cutting Pavlich's cheek open?

That was a tackle with no malicious intent whatsoever, he pinned the arm as he was told and tackled to the ground. It was an unfortunate accident. Reprimand at worst.

With 14.05 minutes to go in the 1st quarter of tonights game Kade Simpson did exactly the same thing to David Armitage. Not as bad result for Armitage. Lets see if Simpson gets cited and gets at least a week. We will see the inconsistency here.

Some salient points on One Week at a Time:

1) The MRP is totally inflexible and is forced to apply points where there ought not be any.

2) We are penalising tackling which is a legitimate part of the game. Trengove didn't do anything other than poorly (arguably) execute a legitimate tactic.

3) Campbell Brown elbowed Callan Ward in the head, off the ball, and got 2 weeks. Trengove tackled, and got 2 weeks.

4) This kind of thing happens repeatedly (Redleg above indicates it has happened in tonight's match too).

Posted

fingers crossed he will get off, but the mrp are rats, but how it gets more than the campbell brown elbow and the tambling elbow is rubbish.

Spot on Redleg.

I hope they contest this. It's not JT's fault Dangerfield has a floppy neck and gets concussion the first sign of hitting a blade of grass !

This is a complete disgrace.

This rule was brought in to stop players pinning someone's arms (plural) and driving their head into the turf.

Jack held one arm. Dangerfield's other arm held the ball. He tried to kick it and miss. Jack's tackle was in fact perfect. It is nothing like the tackle described above that has been outlawed.

Dangerfield was negligent in that he could have protected himself but didn't as he was intent on trying to kick the ball.

MUST BE CHALLENGED. F****(*^&^&*^ PATHETIC MRP!!!!!!!!!!!!
