I posted on the Herald web site, I encourage others to do the same if you want to put the pressure on Bailey and the Club and hold them accountable for this performance

If you care about the club as supporteres you need to make your feelings heard

DS, not having a go or anything, but did you watch the game last night?

Alot of people are calling for Bailey to stand down or for the MFC to sack him. While I sit on the fence regarding this, I see where he is coming from with the "back to basics" call.

Last night the skills of the players left alot to be answered.

These are BASIC football skills:

Kicking - Not only could we not hit a target from 15m away, we could not even keep the ball inside the boundry. Some of the out on the fulls went 5 rows back into the crowd. Our kicking out needs a full overhaul. Jamming the ball on the boot out of back and straight to WC players. Bombing the ball long to packs, without even trying to set up a play.

Tackling - WC had a field day with casually strolling through and around Melb players. How many times did a WC player break through or around 2 Melb players.

Manning up - At stages through the game it looked like WC had double the players on the ground. They found to much space to run around in. It made us look completely silly.

Handballing - Same as kicking except easier. We couldn't even hit a target 5 metre's away, and when we did, the recieving player was under to much pressure.

Running - SYLVIA, it's left, then right and then left again.

Supporters are talking about gameplans, and while I agree, The players need to show me the basic set of skills to play a game of football at AFL level.

Maybe there was something in Cam Schwab praising the players and admin staff only... He knows whats going on, he has a vested interest in the club one which is greater than all of us. Schwab is a very smart man.

Sorry, but a call of "back to basics" is the ultimate cop-out by DB - he is in charge of this ! The basic truth is we are going backwards - should have lost to Hawks by 20 goals if they'd kicked straight, could easily have lost to Sydney & Brisbane, and now this !

DB is clearly out of his depth.

It's not a great response, but what else can he say?

Intensity should be non-negotiable. We shouldn't have to say, after a loss, that we need to lift our intensity.

I don't want Bailey telling us they are going back to basics!

That shouldn't even have to be said..........they are professional AFL players........it should be an unspoken norm, not something they "go back to".

I want him to say the performance was pathetic, and the buck stops with me!

And his last line should be, talk is cheap, and our resulting actions will tell the story.......end of article!

I'm pretty sure we had a bunch of coaches elevated in the stands.

Bailey has run his course. The only good thing he's done is helped us bottom out completely and pick up some good early draft picks. It's time to change coaches now before we waste this talent, otherwise we're going to end up like St Kilda was - a team full of top draft picks that are individually brilliant but can't play as a team. The game plan of closing your eyes and trying to kick the ball in any direction just isn't working.

I knew the dees were in trouble early on when the person who started with the most intensity last night was Jack Watts - while much higher than normal by his standards it's still well below par with what should be expected as an AFL footballer - the rest of the team just sat and watched West Coast do it's stuff. WCE in their warmups were more intense than we were during the game. And Brad Green had the best seat in the house - how I'd love to be standing in the middle of the ground watching a game of AFL as he seems to have been doing all season. His best passage of play by far was when he tripped over his own feet and in the process accidentally smothered the ball with his back. We're really lacking the leadership that Junior, Neitz, Lyon all provided. Time to demote him and make Moloney the captain (just take his beer money off him first).

Basic skill errors - how can a team so consistently hit the opposition on the chest with the ball - AIM FOR THE GUYS WEARING RED AND BLUE (or white, red and blue).

Thank god for Colin Garland - it would have been a 100 point loss without him.

Illogical ? why is it Illogical ??

The number of games won under Bailey are woeful

We have all been told we have to understand we are rebuilding

Question is how much rebuilding do we need?

Using the Logic of a rebuild then surely it is time to continue the rebuild with a new coach

I find people who are appologists for Bailey the most illogical people of all.

Pls dont fall into that trap weigh up the facts, they no longer support Bailey, hes had his chance and his blown it,

As seen by his comments at half time when he said there is still 60minutes of football left and he infered it didnt matter what had happened up till then.

It's not the Coach! It's the approach!

We are trying to hard to put games into the Kids and the balance is out. One to few mature bodied player effects the confidence.

It has to be pretty bloody basic, we were not LEADING last night. I was a rubbish footballer when I played under 10s, but even I knew that to get the ball you have to actually lead towards the player kicking it.

You need to lead into space. With a zone set up you often do not have any space to lead into. The West Coast talls didn't usually mark it by leading, but by setting up 2 on 1s with Cox and having players shepherd in the marking contest. It's much easier to do at Subiaco, though.

Yeah, but why are we kicking to a 2 on 1 with Dean Cox then? Why is that the ONLY option? You spread so you have 6-8 options within kicking range instead of one which is a 2-on-1 with the opposing ruckman.

The issue is that they are kicking to a static man. If you're kicking further than about 20 metres, you cannot kick it to a static man, as with the speed players run at now you'll have someone either spoil it, take the mark over you or make it a contested situation by bumping the target out from under the ball. We keep getting hammered by this - not just last night, but against Brisbane and Hawthorn as well.

And god we need to learn how to get out of a zone.
