These are the games that if won can be the difference between making the 8 or not.

After watching most of the footy on the past weekend...we can win the next 3 matches if the attitude upstairs is right.

I'm perfectly happy for us to go in as underdogs on Thursday... seeing them go into the game over confident and expecting it to be easy could be all that is needed to fire up our boys and catch them off guard.

Ideally we will have enough amo from the result last year at the 'G.

We owe them for that but I'm not sure we are a hardened enough side to beat a below average interstate team away let alone a decent one.

The WC forwards have had a much better start to the season than some of our defenders, an area I thought we would never go backwards in but at this stage we have. Chips injury, Grimes a bit dicey with the ball and Garland, although pretty solid, has looked a little less unsure than what I've seen over the past 12 mths or so. (I'm not concerned about this and have absolute faith in the guys like Chip, Garland, Grimes with the addition of Tapscott, to sort this area out quickly. It would be nice if it clicks against an in form group on Thurs)

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we win this game, somewhat happy if it is a good contest.

sure, west coast have improved, which was to be expected, yet i cannot see us losing this match even if it is up there.

i think their forward line nearly matches up perfectly with our backline, as we have 3 good tall defenders, and it is ideal as they do not have the speed in their forwardline to trouble us as much, it is like our matchup last year with brisbane, although they had fevola, brown and clark up forward, we had the match ups for them and we beat them by 50 points, all be it at the g.

i also think our forward line is too flexible for their defence, and that with them not having Beau waters it is a massive loss.

and i think our midfield is stronger, and use the ball better.

jamar vs cox } cox will struggle against a proper ruckman.

martin vs naitanui } could be our worst match up but even still if it is only one match up over the field i am not too stressed.

the main advantage they have is the crowd, if we can get up early, and take them out of the game, i can see us running away with a 5-6 goal win, having said that, we will need a solid 4 qtr effort, but our best football is streets ahead of their best, and our worst football is below their average, so we will need to be on!

No mate, I am not too soft. I hate that I think they don't believe they can win, but unfortunately that is my impression atm. This is by no means an excuse for them but a judgement. If players don't believe they can win, they don't run and work hard, and this is where I believe we are lacking so far this year. As I said I hope they have had seismic shifts in their mindsets and change my opinion this Thursday. We shouldn't fear WC, but that by no means says our players don't. I also am not an acceptor of "development games", it is a fair excuse to a certain point, but not any more. This is a game we can win, and at the end of it all on Thursday, we will know just how much our players WANT to win. I think we SHOULD win, and if we don't, my blood pressure is going to rise dramatically

I've always thought the Weagles had a very young team and midfield but i just had a look and their midfield is pretty seasoned.

Priddis, Kerr, Embley, Adam Selwood, Matt Rosa, Sam Butler/Bradd Dalziell been around for a few years.

Gaff And Shuey are nice additions though. Like Scott Selwood too.

The game after Jimmy announced his cancer on 3rd July 2009 round 14 (against WC funnily enough) was one that will linger in my memory for the ferocity the boys played with, and history will show that we won by 20pts. Now I know we had a few older, more experienced players, but the point I am trying to make is to do with attitude. There was no way known to man that they were going to let anyone beat them that day. I deadset reckon we would have given Geelong a solid run on that occasion. Now why they can't go out playing with that unflinching will to win every week, I do not know. But as you said, I will not accept it as an excuse anymore either. My problem is that it doesn't matter whether we accept it or not, the issue is entirely whether the players, coaching staff, FD and administration accept it. And to me, by not finding a way to fix it, they accept it. Tomorrow night will answer a lot of questions I have about the rest of this season. Enough games have gone under the bridge now that they should be playing to their current ability. Therefore if we don't win, it better be bloody close, and one hell of a game.

There's not much in it in terms of people being willing to part with the needful. The Dees are 7.5pts in at the $1.91 line. Straight out $2.15 and $1.75.
