Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Brendan Fevola Saga

Gee pal- you look a little like him too.

HaHa, he looks a sight for sore eyes, but, what a talent... And his character, brilliantly played in an absolute classic.

Kid Shelline,,,,, just a little like our talented, but troubled Fev... Turned up as a drunk, from the stage coach trip from Cardboard Alley, to da Gabba. Messeurs Voss & ??? there to meet their new hired troubleshooter,,,, only to wear a concerned frown, all the way home.

But the flawed Hero comes good. Just a touch of humour,, from a classic past,,, to lighten February.

The Akermanis rule: if a player has a falling out with a playing group, there may be extenuating circumstances and the player possibly deserves another chance. If a player has a falling out with two playing groups, he is a complete [censored] in every way.

As stated perviously there are only two considerations

1/ Talent - undoubted talent.

2/ Fit for the team/playing group, team ethos and culture - undoubtedly NO.

If we were considering Davis cup tennis singles - then maybe. But this is a team sport and he has no place in a team enviroment.

I am little bemused by people saying "well, its Fev and its his personality and what major crime has he committed to be treated by the Lions as he has - who doesnt go out on NYE and kick their heels up ?" ( not necessarily on this thread or site)

I pose this question - if it is no big deal what Fev has done, then lets consider two players on your list behaving like Fev, how about 4 players ? how about half the list going out and behaving as Fev does ? Is that a problem ?

There is a certain standard of behaviour required of footballers in the team enviroment and Fev has been a constant and repetitive failure.

Some bad boys do make good - some don't. When it comes to 44 other players on our list I am prepared to punt on signing a player with form queries, with injury queries but personality queries ? no ! I for one did not want Ben Cousins. I did not want Aker. I did not want Barry Hall. I do not want Brendan Fevola.

Yeah, I get it. Imagewise, the AFL can't be seen to be kicking a man when he's down so they've given him the green light to play in the VFL.

Correct-Akermanis told Royal and West whom both was at Visy Oval watching the Bulldogs last Saturday that Fevola was being pushed towards Casey or Coburg.

apart from all the obvious issues he has, has anybody noticed that he is a lazy player on the field as well? never makes a good second effort, and is often seen looking disgruntled at his teammates when the delivery is not what he expects. Not a team player in any way, no thanks!!!

Read the part about Fev's performance on the recent trip to China. Read between the lines.

We DO NOT want this bloke at Casey around our developing young kids.

The cheek of Velocity Sports. Trying to offload us a Fevola and messing our heads with Scully.

Everyone needs to stop saying all this crap about "developing young kids", "not good for the playing group", Just face that we would be better off with Fevola at full forward than not. He is a champion full forward, he'd kick goals for us and he'd win games for us. At a footy club that is the most important thing. Yeah he's a character, yeah he's been in trouble many times but he's a man who can kick goals and we can build a forward line around. That's our missing piece as far as I'm concerned, I was upset when we didn't get Hale (although obviously Fev is way better than Hale). For Brisbane he played some great games even with Brown next to him,he was lazy sometimes but I think he was hard done by by giving the sack and he has a couple of good seasons left in him so i think we should at least give him a go at Casey and see what eventuates from that. Think about the Bulldogs and Barry Hall.

When you are older and wiser you will realise that you have to do more than just kick goals and win a few games to be a net benefit to a footy club.

When I'm older and wiser Fev won't be around, and please don't judge me on my age. Well, I don't see how kicking goals and winning games wouldn't benefit our team. That's what footy's all about. Especially if he brings us into the finals. He'd bring more supporters to the ground, give the Demons more publicity, boost our membership sales and imagine this: Jurrah weaving through a pack, handballing to Fev in the goal square and snapping through a game winner to the punt road end of the MCG. Imagine Fev, Jurrah, Petterd and Watts embracing each other after goals are kicked and teaming together to create a championship forward line.

That's what Michael Voss said to his club over the 2009 season......We all saw the results.

It's a nice dream to wake up too, but it is far removed from reality.

It's a dream that we should at least try and turn into reality. There's a difference between us and the Lions though: we have Jim Stynes. Jim already showed his appreciation for Fev on his twitter page so I think he would be a great friend to Fev and would chat to him on a regular basis and provide great advice to help him be a good club man. I also think a lot of Fevola's angst in the off-season was just the frustration of being injured and the season at the Lions hadn't gone as planned (however, I know that's no excuse for his behaviour).

As i have said on other threads...i wish Fev all the very best, but i don't think an AFL club is what he really needs. If Fev came to Melbourne he would need 24/7 care. That is too much to ask

But by all means i hope Fev goes down to REACH with Jimmy to talk to some kids.

I have seen Fev talk to kids at the Royal Children's Hospital, he is great with kids.

But i think his AFL days are gone

Then why did you mention it?

I just think it is naive to believe this bloke is going to get us to where we want to be.

He would be a cancer on the group.

And Jim Stynes is not a cure-all for the woes of those around him.

As Al Pacino said in Any Given Sunday, "there's a point where this game has to be about more than just winning games of football..."

Fevola does not belong at MFC and anyone that thinks he would be a good fit there is unfortunately not very intelligent.

Fin.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
