BAMF 4,479 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 It's hard to keep news like this quiet, isn't it? Well it's true, we've had a high powered meeting here and the Fev is now officially writing for DEMONLAND. We've even bought him a set of crayons to enable him to better perform his duties! Ahhhh..... I was wondering what our compensation from trading America De Carli to GWS message boards would be.
Whispering_Jack 31,365 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 It doesn't exactly enthuse me either especially since the Scorps' skipper missed last season after sustaining a shocking head injury allegedy from a drunken hoon but, in the end, it's Casey's decision to make and if the club believes it can rehabilitate the local boy then so be it. We didn't quite help their cause in 2009 when only 3 MFC players (2 rookies and 1 senior who was subsequently delisted and reinstated as a rookie) were available for the finals or in 2010 when we had 7 or 8 against almost double that in the Northern Bullants team in the semi final. A win in that game would have gained Casey a place in the prestigious second tier national competition that starts later this month. We hardly have a right to veto this decision despite the enormous input we put into Casey in terms of money, players and expertise. As much as we might not like having Fev at Casey, if the decision has been made we have to respect it.
Satan 2,921 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 not happy jan firstly like its been said fev will play ff and stop a development player like saunter at sandy stopping a neitz replacement (neitz retired early and we had no one ready to replace him) secondly... cant be a good influence on young players leopards..spots thirdly will reflect badly on melb(even though we did not want fev at casey) if it falls in a heap of....

I would think that the MFC would be bitterly disappointed in Casey for making this decision and it may even have the club examining the need for an alignment. Then again maybe secretly we are in favour of the decision but have agreed with Casey that publicly we would be seen to be against it. Let's all hope he doesn't stuff up and actually helps some of our younger players, playing for Casey.

As much as we might not like having Fev at Casey, if the decision has been made we have to respect it. I do understand and accept your reasons regarding your first two lines of your post, however, as I recall he came back to the venue as a true and great leader he, is because one of his teammates was in trouble and he tried to get him out of and got belted himself, I recall. No one accepts what took place. The only assault Fevola got into he got a bar attendant in a headlock, I recall. No doubt booze and gambling have been Fevola's issues and further to this-it is overall Casey's decision not ours. And furthermore, one great thing that the Debt demolitio has done for our great club is now not being in the dicatorship of the AFL therefore doing what they say. We therefore, should not tell Casey what to do also. Anmd furthermore, as you pointed out we pulled the rug from Casey back in 2009 when we would not allow our players to play- leading to Peter German going and Peter Faulk also.Lastly as I've stated his home life has been in tatters. Maybe the crayons you are sending him will help lead to a better family life, which may lead him to behave and play well for Casey which if they play finals will give great experience on the field .And what would a premiership at Casey do for this young team also.?
DeezMan 4 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 As uncomfortable as we all may (logically) be... I for one wish Fev well. And also hope the relationship between Casey Scorpions and Fev is a healthy one. I'm hoping Fev can be a fantastic FOOTBALLING mentor for the young 'uns - especially that of Lucas Cook!! Will eagerly wait and see how 2011 pans out....
kallioota 0 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 ok what is it that REACH do ? Jimmy has spend a few years doing this to help people out that have gone off the rails. no matter how many times, some people have to hit rock bottom before the penny drops. 66 days in rehab maybe just maybe he needs to be close to family which are in casey. if you are going to go off the rails it,s not going to happen just because Fev is there. half of you sound like mother hen get over it. in all the things he has done can some one please tell me just once when he has taken any one else down ?
Disco Demons 92 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 2013...fev gets his life together, gets back with alexs and gets on the demonslist....i'm not sure alex fevola would look good in a demons jumper! bring back pia miller!
H_T 3,049 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 They did. For a FEW weeks... Until they bumped into Chip. Whats done is done. The main problem I see from watching Carlton and brissy (with brown out) kick the ball to fev 9/10 times because like it or not the bastard is quick and presents as a target everytime when the midfield looks up. Lucas cook won't get a look in. Lucas Cook might be the one giving it to Fev, being a lead up CHF. It's hard to keep news like this quiet, isn't it? Well it's true, we've had a high powered meeting here and the Fev is now officially writing for DEMONLAND. We've even bought him a set of crayons to enable him to better perform his duties! Just as long as he leaves the blow up doll behind him and his SP contacts. He'll have to knuckle down quick smart, because he looks 7-8 months behind.

Juicebox 633 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Obviously has a lot of personal issues and if this is chance for fev to get his sh!t together, then I'm all for it. Some things are bigger than footy.

The hearsay about his poisonous attitude on the training track aside, Fevola's never actually been in hot water DURING the footy season.
Guest melbman Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 If there are any positives in this then I have no doubt DB, CC, CS & big Jimma will find them and make the most of the situation

hellraiser 0 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Fury over Fevola http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/fury-over-fevola-20110307-1bl70.html
demoniac 1,337 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 A few thoughts Fev has had plenty of chances. However he has accepted that he has issues and has begun receiving mental health treatment so hopefully at 30 he is finally developing the skills necessary to negotiate the ups and downs of everyday life. It is generally accepted that a key part of a sustained recovery from mental health issues is returning to the workforce so perhaps now that he has admitted his problems and sought help it is good that he is getting a chance in the VFL. That being said Casey better have put some clauses in his contract: 1 - stays in the regular and intensive care of mental health experts 2 - does not gamble 3 - does not drink 4 - does not attend licensed premises 5 - gets a non football industry related job outside of football industry and holds it There is always tension with an alignment. Casey Scorpions want to win the VFL Premiership. We want our young players to develop at Casey. Certainly if you go to a game at Casey you don't have to be there too long to hear Casey fans airing some gripe about the alignment. The lesson in Casey signing Fevola against our wishes is that we must aim to field a stand alone VFL team in the medium to long term. To do that we have to keep building membership and revenue till we reach the point where we can afford it. That stand alone team may still be based at Casey for strategic reasons but be 100% controlled by the Dees. The reality for Casey City Council and Casey Scorpions is that no other AFL club will align with them and they will struggle without an AFL alignment to raise the funds to field a competitive VFL team. Certainly if Williamstown know they need an AFL alignment to be competitive then Casey most certainly do.
rpfc 29,020 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Ugh. They can sign him, but the club is right to be stern with Casey. He is a lost cause as a footballer and should retire and rebuild his life. It is time to move on. From a MFC perspective I hope the contract is clause-ridden and that he doesn't fraternise with any MFC players outside of training and gameday. And there is no plus here for us, only potential downside. Fev teaching the kids a few tricks?! Don't kid yourselves. The only thing Fev will be doing for Cook, Fitzpatrick, et al. is occupying a position they should be played in.
gOLLy 401 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I think Jimmy needs to go down and have a chat with Brendon. Do Brendon the world of good. No use both clubs sniping each other now. Wont help either. Rember this is Brendons last chance. Its up to him. He dosen't want to stuff up now. I'm only concerned about our young players development.
Demon 16 216 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 This has the potential to end very badly. Ive already written to the Casey management and told them Im boycotting Casey games this season because of the disregard for Melbournes preferences.
Robbie57 2,042 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Short term thinking of the worst kind. Whilst I hope Fev can deal with his issues and get on with a healthy life this will limit the development of our recruits.
La Dee-vina Comedia 17,136 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Glass half empty: Fev stops development of KPF for Melbourne; Glass half full: Fev becomes target for developing midfielders so they learn how to pass to a KPF. As long as Fev doesn't actually drink from the glass, maybe there's as much upside as down.
Mazer Rackham 14,971 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Reckon the best thing for Fev might be to play out his career in the VFL. Decent standard and way less hoopla. Best thing for Casey, get people through the gates. Best thing for MFC, pick up some of the people as members. But fer chrissake, keep the young players away from him!
Still Waiting 94 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Would not walk across the road to watch Casey with Fev playing. Hope they see the light and don't actually sign him.
torpedo 33 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Ive already written to the Casey management and told them Im boycotting Casey games this season because of the disregard for Melbournes preferences. I've just popped my cut up Casey membership card in the Express Post, letting them know I won't be attending my usual handful of Casey games this year as long as Fev is on its list. I urge anybody else who doesn't support the decision to do the same. The deal is not finalised, if enough people express their distaste it may fall over yet.
Rainbow 35 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 If Fev is at Casey there will be no support from me. Send your protests to [email protected]
