Sam Blease

A little surprised and disappointed that all of our new recruits and a couple of rookies have been named in the side to play Brisbane - but Sam Blease has not.

He is not listed amongst the injured players nor amongst those being rested. The silence is deafening!

This suggests he is still a long way from where he needs to be. It is about 2 years since he he broke he broke his leg. Surely there is a big question mark over his future.

If anyone has some specific news ... please pass it on - because he certainly is/was(?) an exciting prospect

We've been counselled in the past to remain patient and that is what we must do. Coaches expect a disciplined approach from players both on and off the ground and that applies to the patience needed in following the scientific requirements when it comes to recovery from injury. Perhaps it's only fair that supporters adopt the same levels of discipline when it comes to our players too. You never know, the wait might be worthwhile

I would rather they manage his load now thsn throw him to the wolves and have him break down again.

Have faith and patience......they know what they're doing.

Agree with this.... and hope you are right

Just a bit surprising that he wasn't named in press release which detailed the injured players .. and those being rested

Maybe the club thought that it would be better for Sam to have a full run at Casey this week, he had his taste in Adelaide now it is time for him to build some form against lesser opposition get his confidence up playing well and hoepfully he can continue this into the start of the VFL season and press for AFL selection. Tapscott will be the same a taste tomorrow more than likely back to Casey next week.

I am just as happy for Sam to make his debut coming off the interchange bench at the 'G sometime this year...

A Huge roar will welcome him as we have all followed his story from the schoolyard.

Patience, the break in his leg was a bad one....He will make it, with the same pace he had before.

Sam is going to be one of those players that comes in round 4 and makes an impact. I can see no cloud over his future, he looks every bit a player that would be drafted early.

It will take some time, but Blease will be a lock in this team by seasons end.

Got to manage his workload, even if he is fit and ready to play, he needs to take small steps to get where he needs to go.

Regular season is king!

Inclined to agreee, patience is the key. For mine only a lack of fitness will stop him being a good league footballer.

If it is a blessing better the broken leg now than at an age where it is very difficult to recover completely. See Nathan Brown amongst others.

Sam is still very young & patience is surely key. He IS an exciting prospect still & plenty to look forward to from him.

I agree 'dandee', but I thing we all need to remember thats it's not that he's been on the list for 2 Yrs. He hasn't had the opportunity Yet, to play much senior age footy, even @ Casey. So I think he should be @ least @ casey for 10 weeks, amongst the men. He's not much out of U-18's, playing experience wise. So IMO he Will make a big impact for us in the future, but we need to stay patient, & no doubt, Keep him patient as well.

i believe morton had played 40 odd games in his first two years at the club...blease has played none in his first two years...now both players 'arguably' need big years to hold there spot.

You are kidding....?... Surely.

There needs to be a stupidity ban imposed on demonland......

Sam suffered a cork at training last week, Being rested for the Brisbane game.

That's the sort of information I was hoping to get. Thankyou J-Riv

If that had been on the injury or resting list... I wouldn't have started the thread in the first place! Good luck Sam

Somehow everyone must have missed it....but Sam was named for Casey Yesterday and played a fine game against Box Hill.....

It was thought that he would gain more from a full run with Casey than a half or so against Brisbane yesterday....

I wish this was posted at the start of this thread to stop all the misundertsanding and rubbish that followed!!!

I posted that up the top, you have to understand some on this site want to rush the development of our young players. It was common sense for Sam have a good hit out and gain confidence at a lower level. It will be the same with Tapscott he will go back to Casey next week get another run and hopefully come round 4 or 5 both Sam and Luke have the form to force there way into the team.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
