The Thank You ad

I don't know if anyone has seen the Thank You ad from the MFC. It was on one of the Foxtel channels earlier and I was pretty impressed. It was basically Jimmy telling us all the great things the club has recently achieved and where we hope to go with a thanks to all involved.

Classy and made me proud to have played a (very) small part in the revival of the club.

i havent seen it and i just watch foxtel... pretty much, is it just on the sports channels?

I pretty much have only watched sports or politics today so I'm not sure but I have a funny feeling it was on the Sky News channel when I saw it. However I've only seen it the once.

Fantastic initiative by the Club, and great that we have finally reached a financial position where such things are affordable. Well done Melbourne Football Club. I don't recall ever seing similar (thank you) ads directed at members and supporters of any of the other clubs.

Maybe one of our Directors - Russel Howcroft from Gruen Transfer had a lot to do with us. I thought is was brilliant. I also agree with the thought of placing it on our website- then that would make it a great communication network with us members and supporters. What do you think-HT.

I think it is a good ad created by the club. Just another example of the improvement by the club with regards to communicating to it's members over the last two years. Not just this year ! :)

This thankyou was enough for me - August 5th. Melbfc website.

They've publicly thanked every Melbournefc supporter/member. The Fox ad's are another thankyou. I'm content with the amount of thankyou's they have put out.

Yes excellent initiative - because it doesn't just say thank-you it also promotes the heritage of our club to the general community. I would like to see it shown once or twice on free to air.... as part of general promotion to attract new members and sponsors.Let's maximize the return from the investment in this very professional "advertisement"

I accept that there will be a point at which the cost is prohibitive - but it would only need to help attract one new sponsor to pay for itself. I'll leave it to the club to do the cost:benefit analysis.

Two things:

Surely we can hit up Ian Johnson at HSV 7 for a few no-charge screenings - starting with Friday night footy.

I love the bit where Jimmy talks about the club's thirteenth premiership. Hawthorn did this in 2004 - talked about the drive to their tenth premiership. To me, talking about our 13th makes it sound tangible and achievable and even inevitable. I'd like to see the club adopt this tone frequently. Plus it also reminds the world we've actually already won more than any but 3 other clubs - something seemingly brushed aside by those who's have us moved or out of the competition.

Putting a video on the club website does not "make it a great communication network".

That doesn't even make sense.

Further proof you have no clue what you are talking about.

Saw the add and liked it. Simple and genuine. I thought the mention of a 13th flag was a nice subtle message of the fact that we have 12 flags and a great history without actually drawing on the fact and pumping our tyres up - which wasn't the aim of the add. Well done.

i can assure all demonlanders that when that ad came on during the game on sunday, 100% of the people in the bar i was at paid 100% attention to it...

...granted, it was just me and two other demon supporters, plus the barman, who is also a demon supporter, but my facts still hold true.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
