Jurrah's Mark

Pipefitter

Recommended Posts

Having seen both marks again, I think the height that Jurrah reached and his prolonged hang time should see him win it.

Goddard's was phenomenal, but the ride was shorter and he didn't reach the same height. I mean Jurrah leaped over Watts who is 196cm.

Both great marks, and which ever one wins the nomination this week will no doubt go on to win the overall award (and the crappiest prize in the history of competitions!)

could Watts turn into the new Gary Lyon?

Watts will be a very nervous man everytime there is a long high kick put into F50, waiting for the Jurrahcane to arrive on his shoulders, just like Farmer used to on Lyon

Let's get behind LJ and ensure he gets the car.... vote now!

http://www.afl.com.au/competitions/mark/mark.aspx

Also regarding the respective heights LJ and Goddard achieved, one way of looking at it is that LJ jumped on Jack Watts (196cm) shoulders, whilst BJ rode Sam Fisher's (191cm).

Jurrah was therefore 5cm higher, rode longer and just looked more stylish.

Breathtaking.

jurah was on watts shoulders! massive leap...watts is 196cm tall...from the footage i saw LJ didn't even touch watts or use his hands to assit in the ride...

if it doesn't get mark of the year it will probably go close to being in the top 10 marks of the decade. . .

and Jackson Trengove(the port player) was 197cm

As suggested by why you litle, I photoshop'd Jurrah's mark so that he is wearing the historic red and blue jumper (see previous page).

I was further prompted to perhaps send this to the footy club and make a bit of a statement.

Here was my email:

Hi fellow Demon!!

As the season draws to a close for us Demons, so too (hopefully) ends our white strip that is very "un-Demon-like", to say the least.

Liam Jurrah's mark. It will go down in history for the Demons as one of our great marks (along with Farmer's and Smith's!). But with the white strip donned by Jurrah and his teammates against Port, this scintillating image will leave people wondering who he played for in 40 years down the track!!!

I have attached a Photoshop'd image of Jurrah in the Dees' traditional guernsey - see the difference it makes! I am hoping you may be able to forward it on to the relevant personnel in the hope that this simple image may create an even more eagerness to keep our traditional red and blue as much as possible.

Thanks for your time,

A Demon supporter since 3 months old (currently 23 years old)

And the response:

Good Morning,

Thank you for your email and continued support of the Melbourne Football Club. Your email has been forwarded to the marketing department.

Kind Regards,

Sarah Baker

Will keep everyone informed. :)

I'd love to see our Club produce a poster of LJ's mark. I'm sure that many of us Demons fans would be happy to buy one (especially if it wins MOTY). Maybe we could even do a quick whip around and sent a bundle of then to adorn the walls in Yuendumu.

Liam has taken a while to recover the confidence in his shoulder, following his major surgery earlier in the year. He's been dying to take a screamer like this one for a few weeks now and if he has a good pre-season, get ready for something special in 2011 as you ain't seen nothing yet.

Good on ya

Hey fellow supporters,

I am a painter, and whilst photo posters are excellent, if you want to get really serious, only a painting will do. I would be happy to accept commissions from any of you! It has so many fabulous facets to it, that I suspect I'll paint a version anyway(with the 'home' uniform and shorts in replacement) My avatar is in fact a 'front on' view of the Shaun Smith mark using artists models (it's a bit hard to see I know). It is one of a triptych....front on, TV side view, and opposite side view. They are 5 foot tall, acrylic on canvas. I've also done a couple of modern impressionistic portraits of Tom Wills, both very football specific. If anyone is interested in seeing them, I can provide the relevant link to www.flickr.com where they (and the Shaun Smith) are in much higher def.

Yeah I'm sure we would like to see. Post the link.

Will be very interested to see if you go ahead with the painting. Would be great and I bet you could sell a bundle of prints. Maybe you could do a deal with the club

Good luck

You need to be registered at yahoo (no strings attached), as 'flickr' is a photo/picture networking associated site. Then go to www.flickr.com/photos/daubings. Tom Wills paintings are on the second page.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
