Jones was dropped, and if GC did get in his ear he'd have some thinking to do.

Guaranteed a midfield gig, surf and warm weather.

Makes sense to me.

I thought he played all 22 games.

Bruce is going to GC.

Jones is going to GC.

Everyone is going to GC! (Oh wait, let's actually wait and see what happens).

He did play all games. But he was still dropped.

Never said he was going, what Damien Barratt said makes sense though. Even more so when Jonsey played all 22 games games and couldn't get within a sniff of the b&f top 10.

Yet other mids like Moloney, Sylvia and Junior all got in and they all missed chunks of the season.

Insight into how the coaches rate him perhaps?

I'd be looking to trade him.

Wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed I will add.

He wouldn't know, because the count is done on the night- no one knows- only Bailey, Wellman, Mahoney, West and Williams would have an idea because they vote

Mate you were right but so was he!

Now my job is to try and find out how he knew!!

Heard a whisper last night that Nate Jones is not Happy & is seeking Talks with DB on his Future-Hope he stays, i consider Jonesy very much Required. He is only 22, seems like he has been around a lot longer.

Did this "whisper" eminate from the Footy Show?

And I wonder where they heard it...

I wish to coin a new term - 'Flag cores.'

I think required player can be interpreted a manner of different ways.

Whereas 'Flag Core players' are those that are vital to the MFC winning a flag in the near future. Those that form the Core of a Flag winning team.

Those players are:

Scully, Trengove, Watts, Jurrah, McKenzie, Sylvia, Grimes, Morton, Frawley, Garland, Bennell, and Petterd. I see only Jamar and Davey playing an important role out of the older players, but others will/could play periphery roles.

As for how that comes into play here; keep your hands off the above players!

Damien Barrett on the footy show said that Jones 'isn't sure about his place at Melbourne' or something along those lines and wants a real good talk with Bailey before staying. Barrett is normally pretty good but surely that cant be right? Jones loves the club... but then again, Brock did too and look what happened there...

Maybe I haven't watched the "Footy Show" in years so i wouldn't know, i am merely passing a rumour onto the Rumour thread.

Oh, OK then.

Oh, OK then.

Yes thats pretty much what came over the air waves, without the mention of Damien Barrett. I hope DB can sort him out quickly. We need that Hard Bodied Blue Collar worker to help our young boys.

We lost last weeks game i believe because Jonesy went off.

I think 45 juxtaposed your post with a previous one detailing said rumour, to point out the fact that if you were 'passing on (said) rumour to demonland,' it was a tad redundant...

Only if you had watched the "Footy Show" was it redundant. For those of us who do not watch that Garbage it was actually first hand.

How can you include Morton and Bennell as 'Flag Core Players' when they haven't nailed down a position yet? Most supporters and probably the players themselves are confused as to what role they play from one week to the next. Morton has shown glimpses of talent playing in defense, attack and in the middle but if he continues this years form he will not be on the list in 2013. Bennell has played all year in a forward pocket but has plenty of competition there and may be asked to play a rebounding defenders role in the future. Still plenty of people not sold on either of these guys... myself included.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs West Coast

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
