MELBOURNE

Jack Grimes (hamstring) - 2-3 weeks

Jordie Gysberts (back) - 2-4 weeks

Rhys Healey (hamstring) - test

Danny Hughes (ankle) - 3-4 weeks

John Meesen (foot) - season

Brent Moloney (corked thigh) - test

Michael Newton (quad) - 1 week

Ricky Petterd (shoulder) - season

Jake Spencer (back) - 2 weeks

Grimes and Gysberts have been out for some time and it would appear a few weeks to go.

They are obviously a lot worse than I thought.

This list suggests to me that there is probaly only one possible change

this week ( unless there are injuries that we have not heard about ).

I think Trengrove will come back via Casey, that leaves only Mcdonld as a possible inclusion.

My guess NO CHANGE!

Trengove has been consistently in our bests throughout the year. Why would he be sent to the VFL for the first time after being rested?

Unless I am mistaken he has been out for two weeks and he was suposedly injured.

If there are no injuries from Sunday! who do you drop?

I think ever player in last weeks team deserves to be in Brisbane.

We know he can play and he will be back however guys like Maric need to be given a few games.

We need to know if he has what it takes.

Having said that he will probably get dropped for Trengove!

Damn back and hamstring injuries, always seem to grow into at least 8 weeks on the sidelines. Disappointing & unlikely to see Gysberts or sadly, Grimes again this year.

How did Jordan Gysberts go from test to 2-4 weeks?

Good question I wondered the same thing myself!

It would also appear Grimes is getting nowhere fast.

Unfortunately "Demon Jack" I think you are probably correct.

The up side is we seem to have a few to take their places,

this time last year it would have been a tragedy.

Hope Gysberts is only out for the two weeks as he needs to play 2 more games for Casey to be eligable to play in the VFL finals.

I'd assume he has not made progress or even slipped backwards. May even be kept in cotton wool for season 2011, therefore not playing another game this year. This would be very sensible IMO.

Sif Moloney would miss 2 weeks with a corked though!!! This is Brent Moloney we are talking about!!!

His tweet from today read, "The leg's feeling better =) run/skills/weights/pilates/swim/hot colds/massage... pulled up well.

McDonald and Trengove will come back in ... maybe Moloney. Might be stiff on some players, but those 3 have been consistently amongst our best/most solid.

As we get better, these kind of selection "problems" will start to come with the territory. Mercifully we don't have to try and squeeze Grimes and Gysberts in as well ...

Will be great to see how they back up after a big win.

Whilst it may be disappointing if both McDonald and Moloney again do not make it into the final team by Saturday night... the team without them (and also without Grimes, Trengove, Petterd and Bate) smashed a top 8 side in Sydney by 73 points and were 91 points up halfway through the last quarter!

We can do it without them. We have the "cattle". However, it could be the difference between 73 points and 100 points. :P

The test showed his injury was worse than originally thought?

It would be a shame to see Trengove's chances of winning the Rising Star Award damaged if he was being further rested just to keep looking at lesser players in the team. Plus I always want to see our best available side running out. None of this 'give him a run so we can have a look at him' rubbish. If they are good enough, any player will force their way into the team, or take their chances when injuries open up a spot.

Maloney, McDonald, Trengrove all should come in if available as they are proven in our best 22. I would even suggest that throw in Green and Grimes and they almost make up our top 5 B&F. Warnock would be a chance to come in also after the job he did on Fevola last time (yes I know Fev kicked 4 goals but 3 of the 4 were cheapies).

So making way for 3 players at least, unlucky, but Morton (tight Gabba ground won't suit him), Watts (not doing enough), Jones (looks to be needing a rest).

Having said that, I cannot fault the match committee as they seem to be handling the team magnificently this year.

I think that bringing back three players who have been out for a few weeks is dangerous. How do you drop someone from a side that just had one of there best wins ? I don't think you can. Maric is safe this week by the way.

Would it surprise you that only 4 players (green.davey, jamar jones)have played everygame this year

I read in one of those "ladders with the lot" that we've used 38 players this season which I think is the equal highest

Can't agree. We didn't pick up a player at pick 4 to only play him at certain grounds. No way Morton will be dropped again this year.

Rubbish.

Trengove and Moloney have missed two weeks with minor injuries. Junior played last week at Casey and had 20+ possessions.

Its dangerous to leave out your inspirational captain, your leading midfielder and possible rising star award winner for good reason. If they are all fit then they should play.

Its a fantasy to say you cant drop someone after a good win. Its bollocks.Bail, Maric and Johnson are players who could be in the gun if the above three are fit.

Makes sense. But like all players Morton needs to sing for his supper.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
