Former players at the footy

Anyone know any former players that come to the dees' games regularly.

The only guy I see quite often is Anthony Ingerson...looks like a passionate supporter and a just your normal guy in the crowd i.e. polarfleece never suit!

Any others?

Last year I saw one of my old favourites, Ricky Jackson at two of Melbourne's games.

I had a beer with Nathan 'doggy' Brown last year at the Sunday twilight game against Adelaide rnd 5? He was a great bloke & still loves the dees. He told me he never became a firefighter.

Is Paul Wheatley employed by the club in any capacity? He was at the game on the weekend, dressed in what looked pretty much the same as the players' suits worn by Juice, Hughes, Miller etc who were also viewing. He even came down the same set of stairs into the rooms the current players did. Confused me a bit. But anyway, he was there.

yeah, i was at it, great laugh with miller and robbo, we were watching the game behimd the glass, i have to say miller is a top bloke, he remembered me from the plane to darwin. robbo loves the sound of his own voice i must say. and its obvious he still wants to be out there, yze and browny were ribbing him about how good the 24 looks on LJ, very funny. it's amazing listening to the boys comment during the game, they see stuff a lot quicker than the normal bloke, neita was great too, he reckons that greeny is probably the bravest player he's played with and is underatted by others outside MFC. i agreed. they were getting stuck into watts a few times with his decision making. but all think he will be a star. Ricky 'bobby' petterd rocked up too, he is a very popular bloke with the older boys, they took the [censored] but he held his own. the boys congratulated him on signing the contract, he said he was never going to GC, he loves it here. all in all a great day, was a bit surreal sitting drinking beers with that team, what a decent bunch of lads. Whitey is now ruck coach at GC, good move. yze looks as fit as ever. if u ever get a chance to go to one of these events its well worth the money

I caught the train to Etihad for the St Kilda match from Prahran station and Steven (i think) Febey was on it. He was dressed in casual attire. I am sure it was Steven and not mouse, one of them is regularly spotted crawling out of Revolver or 161 at 9am in the morning chewing face.

AAahhh hahahahaha mate of mine lived on Chapel st, the St Kilda end next to a pub (can't recall the name of it off the top of my head). We used to frequent it on Sundays as my mates hot house mates worked there. The Febey boys were both in there often on a Sunday with the bright lights in the eyes and smashig down the chewy's.

Near the Union? I can't recall the name either, but I know where u mean. Always see them out the front, with very itchy noses. Mouse is the worst by far. He always jacked! Both lovely fellas though!

There a several former players who regularly attend but not all perhaps well known faces, espcially the older ones. I caught up with a former head of the former players at Etihad aafter StKilda game and guys like Gary Hardeman and a bloke who wore no 2 and played on the wing a bit up until 1987 have been regulars since their playing days at games at the G. guys older than them like Noel McMahon and his vintage also attend most home games still.

Stephen Smith - a regular - in the MCC committee area.

And Barass, of course.

I saw Sean Wight and Rod Grinter sitting with Stephen Smith as guests of the MCC the other week.

I sat next to Steven in 2005 (at a guess) one game :)

Guy Rigoni and i had a few pots together at the royal after the melb vs westcoke game this year,

top bloke!

Sydney FC are offering all ex-socceroos and one guest free memberships for life. I was wondering if MFC should do something similar with ex-players that played 100 games plus etc. Good to keep players around the club, even at a distance. Great to help build the passion for future father-son-draft picks perhaps.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
