Not really sure if he says anywhere there that he's staying, but you're right...a good article and seems like a top bloke too. Would be great to keep him, and I think he knows we're on the verge of something special!

And before everyone jumps down your throat - it should be PettErd not PettArd!

Who is Pettard?

why pick up on such small things, nothing better to do pal..

just be happy he is staying

"I know the team was going somewhere, and I couldn’t be a part of it this year. I look forward to getting back next year and hopefully start where I left off."

I don't regard spelling someone's name correctly as 'such a small thing' - I think it's a sign of respect to spell someone's name correctly.

And I'm mighty glad it looks like he's staying.

How about this: "I know the team was going somewhere, and I couldn’t be a part of it this year. I look forward to getting back next year and hopefully start where I left off."

and:

"For the record, Petterd has no plans to move back to his home state, and he's more than happy to be part of an emerging Demons outfit.

“It’s an exciting place to be," he said.

"It’s in the hands of my manager and the club now, so there’s not much I can really do. They will look after it, I’m sure.”

Oh, and while on the subject, according to the man himself, while his name is spelt "PettErd", it is correctly pronounced "PettArd". Hence the confusion that seems to abound.

Cheers!

But hang on isnt Petterd from the GC and that another poster had it on good authority that he was going to GC???

Just shows the stupidity of those posters pandering to speculation without the facts.

Anyway its interesting he has decided to stay.

Perhaps Ricky just hasn't heard yet that Guy McKenna bought a house on the GC last week which is going to be for Gary Ablett.

Apparently he said he had more chance of lining up at full forward for the Doggies than take on a job at the Gold Coast

Actually, he said he had more chance of becoming the next PM!! LOL

As i stated a few Months ago...Would Ricky Petterd really want to Shake Jim Stynes Hand & say Goodbye at years end??

I sure hope not. Money isn't the be all & end all with job satisfaction. Those new facilities, our growing membership.

Sure i will wait till the signature is on the paper, but all these solid rumours are just garbage.

Ricky Petterd is a required player of the Melbourne Football Club, & don't forget that the Medical Staff at Melbourne saved his life. So it would be very hard to walk away to a Soul less Franchise created merely to increase Broadcasting rights.

In 1858 Broadcasting was done via the Quill Pen or the Spoken word. Go Demons. B)

I will stick my hand up as one of the Petterd is gone people.

Glad the article gives all the right indications.

Nothing however is a certainty until the paperwork is signed but the indications are good.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed.
