Demonland Player of the Year

Nice numbering system :)

3> Jamar - herculean effort. I've never been resentful of Jolly leaving, but I can't help but smile seeing Jamar pants him twice in one year.

2.5> Moloney - I had great difficulty splitting these two. Massive effort.

2> Garland - Welcome back. Did absolutely everything right today. What a gem.

1.5> Morton - How many times did he get free by half a paddock? Amazing stuff. Not a big accumulator of the ball, but extremely damaging when he gets it.

1> Davey

0.5> Scully

Lots of others considered. I found the top 4 easy to pick, and could've thrown a blanket over another 10 for the next two.

Interesting that you gave Scully votes, since you watched the game on TV (I'm assuming?), because when you're at the ground it's very hard to appreciate the sort of work that this kid does in the packs.

3 - Moloney. he was everywhere. 38 possesions - his best game ever for the club. we were looking at a thrashing and he willed us back into the game. Proud of him.

2.5 - the big Russian - took on 2 opponents and beat them both without support.

2. Davey - 28 possessions but missed at least 4 targets coming out of the backline. He DOES get the hard ball.

1.5 - Garland - 24 possessions -and took the initiative to kick a goal in the second.

1. Jones. tireless - always working so hard at the coalface.

.5 Frawley - a rock in defence and good to see him drift down into the forward line.

Morton did well as an outside player. Hopefully next year he can put on some beef and start winning contested possessions.

This is my first time posting on this site.Spent the last few years reading the comments . Whilst sometimes I shake my head at some opinions what is obvious to me is the level of commitment and feeling for the MFC --take a bow posters.

Todays game was a mixture mostly good some a work in progress and some Arrgg.

Watching on TV my votes (not sure of the amount ??)

I prefer the 6 to 1...but ok:

3 - Jamar - Superb by the big Russian, is getting better as the season goes on and his efforts in last qtrs against Port and now the pies have been inspiring, he gets the nod from me for the interview on ten after the game, he was gutted and blamed himself for Jolly getting the mark that went on to Lockyer. He was gutted and showed how much these boys want it.

2.5 - Davey - hard to split Flash & Beamer.. both super in the last as we pushed for the 4 points. Flash gets my 5 simply for his courage in taking players on and finishing it off with his execution by foot

2.0 - Moloney - I, like so many always seem to want to skip a generation and look for the next captains from the young brigade, Beamer - you have just been throwing up the hand so high this last 12-18 mths - a captains effort yesterday!

1.5 - Garland - Super, super game from Col. It astounds me that people wanted him to have a spell, this guy just needed some game time after 12 mths out of it and he and Chip will be the premier defenders in the comp. Stop the forward line calls, Col is a great defender.

1.0 - Morton - he is THE new AFL players isnt he? Can make some bad decisions at times but this drop away, I wish he would use his height and size a little more in marking contests but this can come in time too. A great game by Cal and another stepping stone

0.5 - Dunn - hard to split Bartram or Dunn, both player defensive roles even though Dunn up forward, I give it to Dunn as he kept Shaw quiet and Davis has been in pretty average form anyway, not much of a point but enough for me!

Apologies to Chip and the entire backline.....gee these guys are good. Jones, Scully, Jetta. Green would've got votes had he finished off his work and won us the game.

................(I'm not giving Moloney top votes because without Jamar, Moloney would struggle to win so much of the ball)

Agree ... they are developing a great understanding. First time I can recall an on-ball working relationship like this at MFC for a very long time!

I'm not into Supercoach, but I was keen to know at least what Jamar & Beamer scored. Couldn't see anything in the papers today. Can anyone give us the scores from yesterday for say our top 6 Supercoach players?

6 Moloney

5 Jamar

4 Davey

3 Morton

2 Garland

1 Bartram

Just watched the game, the first 5-10 minutes cost melbourne the game. Great games for the young kids. Jack Watts was poor for me, a few poor decisions, they will soon disappear from his game with more games under him.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
