Just saw on Sylvias fb status that he is in hospital, hope everyone is ok with him and will be good for Pies match

Where? I can't see it on FB

I'll try and say this nicely, but... why would you want to be friends with footballers on facebook? Strikes me as weird and a little creepy but maybe I'm just completely out of touch.

I had exactly the same thought, although I note that Mr. Morton is in Norwood which might mean he knows Jack personally.

didn't say anything about what it was.

I tell you one thing is that Jack Trengove needs to get those photo off his facebook of him dressed in womens underwear wearing lipstick and trying to kiss one of his mates, funny as but not a good look.

If you're that worried about it, why not try not Facebook stalking our players?

Beat me to it. I'd be a little embarrassed to even ask to be their friend to be honest. A fan page or a page made specifically for fans to join (like Jones' Twitter page) I can do, but not their own personal page.

Exactly. It's a bit rich to add them as a friend and then hang it on them for the personal stuff they put on there. That's the whole point of sites like Facebook - so you can share stuff like that with your friends.

Jumped on board this ship didn't you Nasher.

I met Jack at an 18th about 11 months ago and he addded me on facebook way back then, I was tagged in a photo on his facebook.

Seriously Nasher you need to lighten.

Wow, you sure told me!

And you still feel the need to rag on him for the stuff he puts on there. I think you're the one who needs to "lighten" (sic).

Rag?

I am saying he looks shocking, terrible, like a tranny even? I would say it if he was here right now, and I bet he has copped a lot of crap about it before. Who cares? Why can't people have an opinion instead of this boring defending "moral" thing you always have going on? You defend him as if it's a crime, get over it.

If he added you then I understand that, but why tell us what's on his page? We don't need to know and what he does have on there is his own business. In my opinion, if I can have one, is that you are breaching his trust. If Trengove wanted to share it then he would add us all - otherwise keep it to yourself.

I agree ... dibber-dobbing about what someone has privately posted on their facebook page is pathetic.

The Melbourne Football Club wishes to advise that Colin Sylvia was admitted to Hospital on Saturday evening following the Club’s Round 11 game against Carlton.

Sylvia was enduring severe pain in his right big toe during and following the game on Saturday. Following medical assessment, Club doctors were concerned about the blood supply to the toe and transferred Colin to the Epworth Hospital, where a test revealed a clot in the main artery on the top of his right foot.

Colin is currently receiving treatment in hospital and will remain there for the next three days.

General Manager of Football Chris Connolly said “This is a rare condition and Colin’s availability for this week’s match against Collingwood will depend on his response to the treatment. ”

The Club will provide an update to the media as further medical information is made available.

The only thing he should take off his facebook, is you.

I'm guessing he won't play. He does have 7 days, but I think blood clots are pretty serious.

They are, especially if they travel up the body to the organs.

OMG people!! Get over it! People post stuff like that on FB all the time, when they do it's so thier mates CAN hang [censored] on them! It's not like Morts has turned himself into the pseudo papparazzi, or is dreaming of having trenner's babies or wants to wear his skin as a coat! He's having a giggle at a mate's expense, one of the true and lasting traditions of footy. Let him have his fun.

FFS! WAY too many lawyers, wowsers and naysayers about here.

Can confirm that our Colin is in hospital with a blood clot in one of his feet. Terrible news.

Apologies if already posted. I'm using my iPhone so it can be annoying to see all current topics and posts. Feel free to merge :)

I totally disagree. Trengove can have anything he likes on his FB page but we don't need to know about it and I'm sure he wouldn't want it spread all over a forum. He can have a giggle at a mates expense, but telling everyone else about it? That's pathetic. Like I said earlier if Trengove wanted us to know he would add us as a friend. He hasn't, therefore he has some right to privacy.

Bad news for Col, but I hope they take all precautions before he returns. Blood clots are nasty.

I hope things go well for Colin. I think with blood clots (used to have a friend with a child who was prone to them) they give you blood thinning drugs until they are confident the clot has broken up - as someone has previously mentioned, the danger is if the clot moves it can move to an organ and 'get stuck' causing damage (in this child's case it was kidney failure) - if it gets to the heart or the brain you are in big trouble.

I would rather see Colin take whatever time he needs to be safe than rush him back for Monday's game. It's only a game after all, and someone's health is more important.

from the Age article:

"""

"""

So, it's an <arterial> thrombosis (clot) - that's quite a different thing from a <venous> clot - which is what most people are talking about. DVT is a venous clot (usually in the calf and higher up) that can dislodge and get into the lungs - very serious. Sylvia has a clot in one of the arteries supplying his foot - they don't say what treatment he is receiving - so, no point in speculating about the time to recovery. It won't travel anywhere except, rarely, break up and go into smaller vessels in the foot.

Not what we need for QB, but not what Sylvia needs either - can be serious.
