It wouldn't matter who they beat its an ongoing joke with some of the Geelong players, they are young blokes loving there football, football mates and there club having a laugh no big deal IMO

Well said mate, who cares, i thought it was funny, just a group of young lads having a laugh, there is a strong bond there, hence a winning side, probably the best in decades. so what. and lets face it, footy players are not rocket scientists!

We left out two of our best midfielders (or three including Jordie Mc), had a few who not yet up to full "match fitness" (Garland, Morton, Wonna) and a few who looked very very tired because of Darwin (Grimes, Watts, Bennell, Jetta, and Wonna again). We used Miller in the ruck against Hawkins, and took at least a quarter to get our defensive match-ups right. I don't think anyone doubts that this was not a game we ever thought we could win, due to the quality of the opposition.

A bit rich to accuse them of not showing us enough respect. Though I don't think that Kelly would have given us a second thought after the game, he was just mucking around. If they wanted to show us disrespect, they would have sung the song at quarter time.

With all the endurance testing the players did during the pre-season, wasn't Scully one of the best?? And now the coaching staff are 'managing' his work load because a trip to Geelong would tucker him out?!?!

It had nothing to do with fatigue, it was all about wrapping Scully and Trengove in cotton wool. If they want to be the best, they have to play against the best week in week out. Dean Bailey has been banging on all year about how we need to get games into the kids to develop them, but he decides to withdraw the two best youngsters in the comp because he is worried the trip to Geelong will tucker 'em out.

If you want to manage fatigue, you manage the minutes they spend on the field, not by withdrawing them from the lineup. They experience of playing the Cats this early on in their career would have been invaluable.

I thought that too, but don't underestimate the importance of the break freshening these players up mentally. The level of concentration needed could easily leave them jaded later in the year.

if anyone watches other cats game a number of them do clownish things when they sing the song, i doubt him sleeping was meant to be a slight towards us.

Or you could look at from the perspective of it being a swipe at Scully and Trengove needing a rest.

The speculative assumptions and scenario's questioned by posters relating to the resting of J.Trengove & T.Scully are already at ridiculous levels.

I just finished a philosophy unit at uni where a lecturer pointed out that when filling out your gender in the national census, the only options to choose from are "Male", "Female", and "Intersex". He said this represents a "chilling" attempt by the "powers that be" to marginalise transgender and intersex people by lumping them all into the one category, thus refusing to recognise any of the individual intersex conditions (i.e. male to female, female to male, etc) as valid gender identities in their own right, thereby presenting Male and Female as the "ideal" genders, and everything else as deviant and undesirable.

I think you've got him covered for sheer hyperbolic overanalysis.

I think it's no big deal, just an in-house joke. They won the game, they are entitled to do whatever they want with their team song. Nobody here would care if we were in their position and one of our players did that.

Whoops!

I've been blaming Stevie J all these years for being the one who did this...

Jokes on him anyway, he ruptured his ball sack

Strictly no...it was the meat, not the bag it was carried in, that he tore.

But thanks to all concerned for reminding me of all this.

I remember thinking at the time that Kelly was a [censored] for that stunt in the song but now I am becoming anatomically confused.

Bloody Norah. Do people on here spend their evenings cutting themselves in a candlelit room while listening to My Chemical Romance music when they aren't posting on Land? Who gives a crap? Unlike the knobs in the media who really make judgements based on very little, players are more than qualified to mock our ineptness as they see it first hand!

Who cares about James Kelly anyway

I would have nodded off to after playing the MFC 2008-2013

We were a disgrace in all areas

186 wasn't till the next season that is how much pride was in the jumper

Don't blame Kelly....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
