We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

i saw some of the boys at the airport davey grimes spencer dunn frawley and a couple more

im hoping for dunn to come in and spencer to stay out

Any signs of Jetta floating around the pack?

Oh, where would one catch the game if one does not have Foxtel? Can it be streamed?

Please please please Miller......don't have me yelling at the screen (again): "Just hold the (effing) mark!"

Last throw of the dice - please prove us wrong. Agree with previous poster he has the worst hands. Not a good time to try them out in the seniors in Darwin. Anyone know what his ball handling & kicking accuracy skills have been recently at Casey?

Re PJ - I have also been a long time loyal PJ supporter - ever since he put his shoulder out in a really courageous lunge along the ground near the members at the G - hugely selfless act for a big man. But finally after last week, the little flame I have held for PJ (in a wholesome man-love kind of way - bugger off Akker) was blown out for good.

And Ozzie - so what if it's a marketing exercise? - just don't blow another gasket!

Wonna will be exciting up in Darwin, although I only watched 1 senior casey game with wonna, he looked lively.

Miller @ Casey

Rd 6 4-? (considered one of the best on ground)

Rd 5 2-3 (Brad Miller - Kicks 12, Handballs 5, Marks 8, Tackles 1, Goals 2)

Rd 4 3-2 (also played in the back line for a half)

Rd 3 2-? (9 marks, not sure on the balance)

Rd 2 0-2 (Brad Miller - Kicks 9, Handballs 8, Marks 9, Tackles 2)

Rd 1 ...

(1) Miller has played well at casey since his exclusion and in case anyone missed it we only kicked 6 goals last week.

When was the last time Miller kicked a goal* though? :)

* err, we're not talking about casey now

the last time Miller kicked a goal was round 1 where he kicked 2 goals, then dropped from the side.

Rivers is more mobile than Warnock and Port are missing their gorilla, so Warnock misses out.

And I'm with others who reckon Jetta will be a late replacement for Spencer.

I think Rivers being more mobile is debatable. Spencer with best case 80% humidity or worst case pouring rain makes no sense for mine. Wonna ahead of Jetta is disappointing and reaks of prioritising marketing over rewarding performance.

Keep the Spence I say.

It's a development year lets see him ruck 60% of the game including time against Brogan. Put Jamar in the ruck for 40% and Full forward for 40%. Leave the Spence on the bench when he isn't in the ruck.

Also guys apparently Struass is in Yuendumu with Jurrah and others. Explains why he is an emergency instead of others who might deserve a game more (also probably means Jetta and Dunn are the real emergencies).

I'd rather see Hughes get a gig ahead of Jetta.

Hughes has finally been given hsi chance, looked OK but shouldn't be dropped after 2 games IMO.

I would like to see more of Hughes, but he really didn't have an impact in the last 2 weeks and Jetta should be rewarded for his recent form. Also, given the whole Darwin thing, I think it's a good move.

We all know Miller's kicking for goal is a little erratic. However, a few weeks back (yes, for Casey) at Southport I witnessed him slot two rippers. Both set shots from near the boundary, around 50 metres out. Was great to see, and certainly something I'd love to see him replicate tomorrow night in Darwin.

Hughes stiff to be dropped???? Unbelievable. Did little in the contests he made and had little impact.

It's his second game RR. I think the guy needs at least 5 weeks. Still learing teh game at AFL level. The delivery to him last week was pretty ordinary and with Bate playing injured he was playing a lone hand up forward. I think it is a bit tough on him. He needs to be played, while we have no other forwards, as much as possible. Otherwise why have him on the list at all?

Why do new players have an automatic entitlement to a set number of weeks without justified performance? There are no freebies for anyone. I thought some of his efforts were so-so last week. I thought his spot was up for contention. Clearly it was.

Jack Watts has had 5 of them now by that reasoning. His first two games have been better than watts!

I think that act was at the SCG actually. Might be mistaken, but I think it was Round 4 2006, where we beat Sydney in Sydney to kickstart a run of 12 wins out of the next 13 games.

Then we fell apart at the end. Again.

Either way, PJ was so bad last week the decision to drop him was absolutely no surprise. The surprise is that Spencer got a call up.

No. Hughes' first two games were worse than Watts'.

Hughes last week didn't do anything that suggested to me he will make it at AFL level.

Yes SCG. The big question with PJ now is - Is he completely out of chances or with one more year and a preseason (cause he missed the last one) can he get back to some of the promise he showed? I think no, he just can't cut it at AFL level, he doesn't have enough weapons and has too many weaknesses.

And come off it, Hughes' first game was better than any of Watts first 3. But really Hughes now has to fight back and play another 5 or more decent AFL games. We really aren't lacking mid sized marking forwards if we have Petterd, Jurrah, Bate and Sylvia up and going. Hughes just doesn't have the size to be a big forward or the speed to be dangerous when the ball is on the deck to get a game ahead of those other 4.

Wrong. Watts had 3. Try again.

Miller has had 6 years RR? Explain that? Hughes looks good in the 2's as well. Has performed at VFL level for 3 years. I just reckon you need to try guys for a sustained period. They need to get used to playing with blokes around them and gwet a feel for the way the team plays. It doesn't just happen. Col Sylvia gave less than Hughes. Hughes looked Ok to me. The time to find out is Now while all the other forwards are out.

Just my thoughts. Clearly you see it differently. If he plays 1 good game and then one ordinary one he is a write off? Harsh IMO

I meant that Watts is lining up for his 5th this weekend. I'm not against Watts playing i think he should be in, but if it was going off form at Casey Miller would have been in ahead of him. I think they dhould be playing watts and hughes ahead of him that is why i was stating that being young and untried we should give them games.

I think the issue is that the upside with Watts is going to be far greater than it is with Miller and Hughes. Selection is not soley done on the basis of who plays the best at Casey.

Watts is an interesting case. He is 19 in really his first full year of football and is growing into his body. By selecting him No 1 pick, the Club has made a huge investment in him and given the needs of the position he will play for hopefully 10+ years and 200+ stellar games with MFC. He is on a special development program and when he plays is matter of when he is deemed ready. FWIW, I saw more in Watts on Saturday than I did in 2 games from Hughes.

Miller at 26 and Hughes at 24 years are plug in play footballers. Hughes is generally honest at the ball but I thought a few of his efforts against WCE were ordinary. In a forward line so young, I think Miller has a bit more experience tha Hughes and better suited to hitting packs in a contest.

I also think that the Footy Department have looked closely at Hughes for the past 4 years know his strengths and weaknesses well. I would have thought had Jurrah been fit and firing the Miller/ Hughes views would be academic.

I knew Miller would come in to replace Bate. That was obvious and fair enough. Just hope he can play well. Thought Hughes was a bit unlucky. Sure he hasn't set the world on fire but he has taken some great marks and last week wasn't his fault. Our foward line was set up poorly. Surely Miller can take the ruck duties as well. Port only have Brogan and occasionally westhoff. If it's wet Spencer would be no good. Actually if its dry the same applies.

I hope Aussie is fit and right to go and they aren't just putting him in because of the whole Darwin thing. But it's good to see him back as I feel he is one player we have missed. the crumber around the ball.

Loving the inclusion of Morton. Hope Warnock is just soreness and nothing more. He's pivotal to our backline.

Well its good to see some players coming back.

Re: "Port only have Brogan and occasionally westhoff" actually its has Dean Brogan and Jackson Trengove as rucks. Also we need to be developing our ruck talent. Ruck takes its toll - who replaces Jamar when he breaks down? Meesen, Gawn? - both on the indefinite injury list.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
