Nice guys..

As it happened I was YouTubing a bit last night and caught the Robbo mark and goal againsgt the Dorks that got us over the line. Strange seeing their now coach in our colours again too. There was a hardness there as well, one that I'm looking forward to seeing develop in the current group.

Anyway good stuff Robbo, keep it up.

AfL Legend??? i liked Robbo but legend is stretching it a bit

Would you rate Garry Lyon as a legend ?? Well Robbo played more games and kicked more goals. I honestly think it's fair to say Robbo will be regarded as a AFL legend.

Not by my reckoning. Not even close.

I'd imagine someone like totaltravel.com would use any description to help promote their brand.

Forget the stats, Lyon was twice the footballer robbo was.

I wouldn't say Lyon is twice the player Robbo was. Robbo in my opinion is a better player, but it's all basically just opinion. I don't think Robbo would be considered an AFL legend however, as there are just too many greater players.

Lyon was a better player who due to injury never fullfilled the true potential he could have, but a champion and legend of Melbourne Lyon will be in my eyes, he showed pure ticker so many times when needed.

Robbo will always be to me a fan fav and a very good to freakish player.

Depends on your definition of "legend." According to the AFL (and me, I might add) Lou Richards isn't an AFL legend. And looking at some of the names that HAVEN'T been included, Robbo is miles and miles behind.

If we're talking a fan legend, then yeah. I guess he did some things that were pretty unforgettable. Regarded by many to be the best exponent of the chest mark. And his high-altitude marks, taken even after his late career injury, gave us memories the likes of which many of us will take to the grave. So by that definition, sure.

I loved him. Always have, always will. And I reckon we could have used him one more year, but I think it was a fifty/fifty call.

Lets not forget Robbo should have been in the All Australian team a few years back. 76 Goals from a forward Pocket/ CHF??

A disgrace he was left out. I refuse to enter into another Robbo was lazy debate

But he should always be thought of as a Melbourne great, as for most of his career for his size he had to punch above his weight

I love the Dead Heart of Australia-gotta get back there one day.

Good on ya Robbo 24

Dan- noticed you did not make comment on his singing/ guitar work--I was wondering what you thought of Robbo in this aspect? And by gee he would be very handy right now at Full Forward - don't you think.

Just for the record no Lyon was not a legend a champion of the club who could not be at his best for long enough due to injury

in my opinion the MFC have only produced one playing legend Ron Barassi and an VFL/AFL champion in Robbie Flower.

I'm sure your comments won't get onto the record in fact i'm quite positive. I'll add Bluey Adams and Hassa Mann. You probably have never heard of them. Melbourne has won 12 premierships, not by accident. All this 'legend' palava of course is courtesy of the cardboard men of the AFL Publicity machine. In an age when television and film data was not preserved we had an endless supply of legends (at least) from '33 onwards. (apologies, i.w smith).

It is a circuliar Arguement which i think is disrespectful to some one who gave a lot of great service, in a team that never had a designated CHF. Robbo did a mighty job.

With the injuries that we have sustained over this pre season we will miss those 40+ goals that Robbo could kick from a pocket and coming off the bench.

I understand the clubs philosophy perfectly but IMO it was one year too early. If i am wrong at seasons end i will gladly fess up

Enforcer my friend you can say what you like about Robbo i don't mind at all But choose the words carefully we all loved Robbo flying through the air so he deserves some respect.

LEGEND is the level of Norm Smith, Ron Barassi, that type. The people who turn up as key characters in the whole history of the sport.

You'd be hard pressed to even say Robbie Flower was/is a LEGEND of the game.

One of the greats of an era, for sure.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
