did anyone else notice that on the the front page of the sun this morning, scully and trengove are wearing the 2010 jumper. it has the new reebok neck on it. i can't really see a difference in the color though...

tomjack.jpg

Here is a pic from the Herald Sun of the new guernsey. The angle isn't very great but the larger Hancook logo is noticeable, as is the Reebok logo being moved on the neckline. Agree that there doesn't appear to be much of a difference in the colors, but regardless of the shade used it sure feels good to see these boys wearing the Red and Blue...

Have they confirmed jumper changes? Wasn't the V going to be sharper as well?

I hope that jumper is this years design with a new Reebok jumper as I would prefer a sharper V and smaller Hankook logo (most of it is just white space that takes away from the design of the jumper).

EDIT: On a side not it was great to see Port change their jumper to one used in the in the one game this year and their alternative jumper looks great too. Finally a team changes their jumper to something more traditional which looks much better. They went from one of the worst to one of the best jumpers while Brisbane went the other way.

Agree 100%, Ports new jumper is pretty slick where brisbane have pulled something horrible out of their rectum!!!

Anyway, I hate to sound bias but the MFC jumper is the best. Although I would love to see the old school MFC symbol form the 1920's at the tip of the V, it would just look awesome. ;)

apparently the final version is still being developed....'@nyencken Small steps. Darker navy, 'sharper' V, modern shape...getting there'. cam schwab today on twitter.

That is good news. Prefer the 'deeper or sharper' V.

From my past experience in printing I know it almost impossible to get a good strong dark red, and Cam Schwab has mentioned this previously (I can't remember where, but i did note it).

In an effort to get it darker it often will start to look more like a maroon or worse.

I honestly don't think they'll succeed. Our red next to that of Essendon, Sydney, Adelaide or the Doggies would be almost exactly the same. I can guarantee that.

Would love a sharper V though.

The nexk issue I understand aesthetically, but I'm there is a very important functional reason for it to be like that.

Similar to the tightness and tapering of jumpers to inhibit tackling, or patches for drying hands on the backs of shorts.

But it just looks like they're wearing the Victorian State guernsey. Don't know about everyone else but I never thought I'd live to see the day when a South Australian team willingly played in a strip that so instantly brings to mind 'the Big V'.

Despite the colours it actually reminded me of the South Australian state jumper which isn't a bad thing as Port need to strengthen their ties with the state and not just the original Port Adelaide Magpies.

What do people think of the following design for the 2010 jumper???

MelbourneDemonsGuernsey2010copy.jpg

Changes from the 2009 jumper:

- Deeper and darker blue (bordering on black).

- Blood red yoke, which starts higher up on the arm cuff for a sharper appearance.

- The introduction of '1858' on the back on the jumper just under the collar. We are the oldest football club in the world... be proud of our heritage.

- Changes to sponsor logos, e.g. Reebok = RBK, and The Age = Volvo

We also need to keep the collar 'V' shaped... not the rounded 'T-shirt' look which are stupid looking. Unless there is a physiological advantage to wearing these rounded collars, I say that we stick with a 'V' shape. Looks more like a football jumper!

Any other changes needed???

Firstly, I like the change. If anything I would prefer the "Blood red yoke" to start a little higher up on the arm cuff just a little more, and the bottom of the yoke (V) to be further down another 2-3 centimetres. I think the "bottom" sits too high. ie. As low as the Port and S.A. V's on their jumpers....!!!

Secondly, I like the idea of 1858 on the back underneath the collar.

Finally, agree with the deeper darker blue (bordering on black).

I was speaking the guy at the MFC store, and there is talk of the Kaspersky logo also changing, as to make the letters stand out more and to get rid of the background colour on the white jumpers (which is green on the white jumpers).

I'm not sure if they are trying to do this with the home jumpers as well but it would be good imo.

Must admit im not a fan of the 'circular' neck that was shown in some recent photos.

I understand that it's part of the tackle proof design (at least that's how it's been presented) but very, very much prefer the 'v' neck, as with mfcrox' post.

One thing that has stood out in recent times is the 'height' of the numbers. Seems like they'll be on the players shoulders sooner rather than later.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well …

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
