I'm a romantic and I want this kid at the club. Many of you will say his name and his allegiance should have no bearing on whether we take him or not but I am prepared to risk burning a pick on a potential spud for what the upside could be. He doesn't seem all that highly rated so there should be no trouble taking him at 34 or maybe even 50. In fact if he is there at 50 and we take someone else I'll be furious. Thoughts?

Not exactly furious and its relative to who else is left on the list, but I'd agree with you there.

Pick 50 would be ideal.

surely there couldnt be another name worth taking at 50 in this particular draft. Remember we know that he is up in the highest bracket in terms of athletic ability and also is rated a 'top bloke' with leadership skills like Grimes I.

Does anyone have a clue if he is actually likely to be snapped up before then? I would have preferred him to tank the draft camp myself!

Consider if he is not good enough and has to be delisted, what impact could this have on the real Grimesayy

none whatsoever IMO

i'm sure he'd be grateful for giving the kid a chance in the first place

Happens all the time.

Brett Voss..?

Xavier Clarke?

Rhys Shaw? Brayden Shaw even?

I'm sure there are heaps of others...

Anthony McDonald??

The Febeys?

A player would be stupid to tie his destiny to his brother who clearly would not be good enough (if he was in contention for delisting).

Burgan (i think it was) rated him in the 35-50 bracket.

There are a hoard of players rated around the 30-50 mark. There appears to be very little to distinguish, so taking him at 34 would not be worse than taking any of the others rated in that area. I certainly wouldn't be bothered by it. I think the fact that he is a mad Melbourne fan already is a bonus.

I have said this before, If grimes Mach II is anything special he will already be on our radar and he will already be on the draft list. The dees would have looked into him before anyone else given the talent his brother has. 30-50 are murky waters in this draft given how many top prospects will not enter the draft due to the GC having signed away some top talent. Selecting anyone at 34 or 50 is going to be tough to get right, so rolling the dice on a fairytale seems like a worthwhile cause.

If Dylan does not pan out and is delisted, I believe Jack will be fine as he has his own destiny to fulfill with this footy club. I doubt Grimes will be there at pick 50.

I hope that people realize that selecting his brother in a fairytale design will leave is with about 1/3 of a team of Grimes' in future years

Ahh those "Y" chromosomes...

If Grimes is the best player available with pick 34 or 50, get him, otherwise, just go for the best available player.

The only issue with another club selecting him, is that Jack could want to leave later in order to play with his brother, or it could be the other way around and we could get Dylan cheap as he wants to come to the club.

I tend not to worry about it. Our recruitment staff will have the order of players they want at each pick, if he is best available im sure we will take him, but if someone they prefer more is still on the board then they wont.

They know more than us so i wont bother speculating.

I

d be quite happy getting both Grimes and Patrick with 34 and 50. I'd also be happy with many other players at those picks. I guess I'll just have to trust that out recruiting department are able to see which ones are worth the effort and grab them.

Just think......we get Dylann, and he turns out to have Jack's class, then a coup;e of years later, the THIRD, Demon supportying brother, Aaron becomes available!!! He also turns dut to reek class. And they're all Demons from birth.....AHHHHHH!..... Dream on Demons! Worth a punt!

that's the spirit!

as long as it doesn't end up a Collingwood Cloke situation

Our Danihers.

I've watched and rewatched everything I could get of Dylan, which isn't a lot but does show enough to be clear that he's no spud and would be very, very unlucky to be in the 'delisting' basket after a couple of years. GREAT closing speed. Has a bit of initiative. Smart and will keep learning. You'd have to be confident he'd be around and contributing long enough to make sure there were at least two Grimes' names permanently inscribed on lockers in our changerooms.

If you look at his little draft profile comments, he is one of very few who make a point of sayign they are passionate about the club they support, and exploring it further.

I'd say worth pick 34, and let's be sure that if he's till there for us at 50 then it's significantly because of unspoken graciousness by 15 other clubs. It would actually be one of those little moments where 'football wins'.

34 may not be enough, well according to Shifter Sheehan anyway.

Doubt he'll be there at 50, his stocks have risen after his good performance at draft camp.

Hope we take him at 34 if he's there. Having Frank and Frank jnr on the list would be sensational but I'm not sure what to call a third Grimey

just read same article.. might be pumping up Dylan a wee bit being in op 30... 40 may be more realistic.. but as you suggest he wont be there at 50. Only caveat into this is any possible effect that recycleds might have pushing some picks further up.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
