I used to hate Collingwood now I just pity them, they're always the Bridesmaid never the Bride, maybe they'll learn how to win a flag one day instead of finishing runner up but they, like you, will have to learn to lose the arrogance first.

Collingwood are no longer a Football Club they are a Marketing Brand like McDonalds, they lost their connection with the working class supporter years ago when they sold their soul to corporations.

Melbourne is a great club with a heart and soul and a real connection to their supporter base, that's something you can only dream of, we've got Jimmy, who have you got, Eddie McEgo? I know who I'd rather have and deep down you probably do too.

Personally I would prefer to work with the Collingwood football club because I respect and feel we can learn from their business - professional approach to the modern day AFL game.

Just had a listen to Barry Prendergast on 3AW and I would say there is no way he will pick Ball at 11, the interviewer tried to get him to admit it but he just danced around the question. I get the feeling however, that we will take him at 18 if he's still there but somehow don't think they'll be all that fussed if he's not.

Good ploy if we get him OK, if we force Essendon to take him at 10 that may free up someone like Melksham if he's still there, I believe we have some interest in him.

Barry is playing a straight bat to all the questions but did admit he's told the boys who will be one and two already.

Can we ask Essendon / Bears / pies for money to not select Ball? (Too late for players as payment). What about 'let us win and we won't select him'? Then we really win because we get a good young player with a lot more games in him, save $1m in 2 years, get some sort of extra payment and I don't have to spit whenever I see him in a Dees jumper.

If you have a culture of laying down to gain priority picks, you are developing a losing culture, that is why a club such as Carlton, with it's priority picks in Kruezer, Murphy & Gibbs aren't going anywhere but 7th or 8th. You can't magically turn on a switch & hope to be successful with the addition of some priority picks. In order for them to be successful, they have to come into an envrionment that seeks success every time they take the field. That isn't the case at Melbourne.

From what i gathered by the interview Barry and the FD has pre determined certain players IF still there at pick 11 and 18 will be favoured ahead of Luke Ball

If they are not i would expect Ball to be the best available
