With the events of today could we land all three?

Pick 1 ND = Tom Scully

Pick 2 ND = Jack Trengove

Pick 11 ND = best available or KPP

Pick 18 ND = best available or KPP

Pick 34 ND = MacDonald or Thorp

Pick 50 ND = MacDonald or Thorp or pass

Pick 1 PSD = Luke Ball

if we pass Pick 50 national draft we then have 2 picks in the PSD and effectively turn or second pick into Pick 1 in the rookie draft beating GC to the punch?

Just a thought ... ok tell me I'm dreaming!!

I reckon this is a geniune chance.

Thorp - PSD

Ball - Pick 18

McDonald - 34 or 50

Definately some twists & turns coming up this side of X-mas

Can someone explain to me why we would want Joel McDonald, whose position in our defence he is taking and also back this up with how many Brisbane games they actually watched last year.

It was a report in the Herald Sun (I think) that we were interested in him, possibly via PSD. If that's true, I am putting faith in the Football Department.

We actually have a very clear need for a defensive minded quality rebounding defender.

At the moment, the only ones on our list that are options for that position are:

- Cheney--- honest trier, but unsure if he'll be quality

- Bell--- delist next year

- Bartram--- no star

- McDonald--- 34 yrs old

The only other options are Bennel and Strauss who are both 1st year players and whom I would think both would end up in the midfield.

Mcdonald would be a nice fit... 22 yr old, strong physically and already experienced with 80 games

joel macdonald is 25..but don't let that get in the way of ur enthusiasm. i'll be [censored] if we pick up ball with a first round draft pick. he cant kick over 45metres and he doesn't want to play for us. WE WILL NOT PICK HIM UP.

Agree McDonald should be very seriously considered. I'd too would be [censored] off with a first round pick for Ball but we won't have to, 18 will get him and I hope we do. But, if the club really doesn't want to we still need to play the game and make other clubs think we will. If it forces a club to pick him before 18 it increases the value of that pick for us re younger talent.

On topic: I think there is a bigger chance that we will pick up none of them, than pick up all 3.

Well you never know ... maybe we will all have to sit back wait watch and see. ;)

Agree. Not sure we need a 25 year old back flanker with questionable disposal.

Admittedly I've never paid too much attention to Joel McDonald, but I thought he was supposed to have excellent disposal..?

Wasn't he touted as being a Luke Hodge-like 'quarterback'?

Screw drafting Luke Ball. The [censored] doesnt want to play for us, so as far as I am concerned he is a waste of roster space. Let him go to collingwood for a reduced contract, and in 2 years time when collingwood come back to earth and Ball and Co are cleared out to rebuild, he can look back and wish he was a part of the rising demons.

Thorpe is risky, but worth a punt. MacDonald has publicly said he would like to play for the MFC, so bring him on in!

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
