If the trade can't be agreed Burgoyne just goes into the ND with 4 years x $600K and the Hawks pick him up with 9 and Port gets nothing. There's a small risk another club may jump in but realistically no club is going to use an early first rounder on an expensive player who doesn't want to be there. Port is over a barrel. The PSD to us is 100-1.

Yeah but that means our picks 11 and 18 will effectively turn into 10 and 17 for us.

Why would Hawthorn use their pick 9 (or whatever it is) on Burgoyne? I'm totally blown away by people saying that that's how they will get him. Last chance to get a good kid for a few years, they will never do it.

If there is no trade this week, I'd be more than happy to take the 100-1 odds offered for him getting to Melb via PSD. I think he's a good bet to come to us (providing there is no trade this week).

When was the last time an experienced player got picked up in the national draft?

i'd be stoked to be getting rid of one of the most over rated and tough talking spanners going around.

then port would have the two bggest ones in the league, brown and cornes.

brown's an absolute tool

Heard our former Nm 41 state that Port asked for a list of Hawk untouchables. Campbell Brown's name was not on it. Hence they deduced that he was available for trade. Logical deduction for mine. Very glad our President does not double as our Football and Recruiting Director!

Port and Hawthorn could out think themselves here. I'm not sure Burgoyne will be prepared to run the gammit of the ND. Ourselves, Richmond and Freo probably won't take him, but can he be sure that North and West Coast won't punt on him prior to pick 9? Port want more, but Hawthorn are constrained now by a megalomanic president whose throwing out edicts like a one armed general. Either Port back down and accept pick 9 and a [censored] player or Hawthorn have to try and convince Burgoyne that he'll get to the Hawks (which they can't guarantee). Still a way to go, but he could still slip through to the PSD to ensure he plays at one of his nominated clubs.

And please, if some idiot nominates Majak Daw they will forever lose my internet forum respect (which is a highly sought commodity).

He is a long-shot rookie project at best. Pull your collective bloody heads in.

Good to know your here to tell all us idiots to get our act together.. and after a whole 30-odd posts.

YOU have no idea.. Im embarrassed for you.

Why pick his name out of nowhere anyway? Why pick on the kid? What makes you an expert on him, or the draft.. or players that havent even played AFL yet??

I ended up downloading Majaks highlights because i enjoyed them so much. Its like watching Nik-Nat - but Daw can kick.

I prey he ends up at the Dees.. it'd be like having LJ and his younger brother playing for us

Dont tell me to pull my head in.

You're a joker..

I've read enough of your posts to know what light to view them in...

And I'm not picking on him, I'm picking on the fools who would put unfounded faith in a young kid who is nothing more than a project at this stage.

He'd be a great rookie prospect, but nothing more.

Try the veal. I'm here all week.

A Project player like Liam Jurrah or Aussie Wonnaemirri?? Yeah, they never work out..

What about people that put unfounded faith in a kid that grew up kicking an empty coke bottle around 4 a footy? Yeah, Wonna shite - youre right, they were 'fools' <_<

Don't just post because you're bored, try to make sense - the rest of us have to read it.

..and just to be clear, you personally decide which kid is a 'project' or 'rookie prospect' - and therefore pick on the 'fools' that may think otherwise, is that right??

(btw - excuse the 'joker' comment - its been a long day)

You're not allowed to use sarcasm...

Landers don't like it.

BTW, they are not project players. They are born footballers.

Martin is a project because he has a bball background, I have no idea about Daw but LJ and Wonna are nothing like Martin.

Been reading your posts too much ;)

Agree for sure. Cant believe you didnt use Watts as your eg!

But Watts and Martin are a different type of project.

I use LJ and Wonna as examples because imo their type of project is similar to Majak Daws'. They all come from a world away. Daw literally as he's from Sudan (i think it was), but he assimilated here when he was 12 or 13.

He may actually be ahead of them in some ways. LJ, had to learn basic communication and city life and Wonnas community didnt have real footys to play with..

You CAN tell just by watching that LJ and Wonna are natural, as you say 'born to do it'.. but this Daw is not far off. He's definately a born sportsman- and his footy's great.. who knows, mabbe he had a footy in Sudan growing up??

I know theyre only specific, personal highlights, (on youtube).. but theyre a fav to watch for me.. worth p. 18 imo - if still there..

I'm of the opinion that Majak Daw would not be chosen by an AFL side because of his football ability, but because of his physical attributes.

This makes him a project in my eyes.

And he is simply not worth anywhere near pick 18 or 34 in my eyes, and anyone that thinks he is would be foolish.

I've read many posts on this forum proposing him as the solution to MFC's ruck woes and this is simply not the case.

Jurrah and Wonnaemirri are nothing like Daw.

You need only give them the footy and watch them go to work.

From what i can gather Port simply asked Hawthorn to forward a list of untouchables which clearly indicates anyone not on that list are open for negotiation

Brown aparently was not on that list which is why Port made the approach

If true then Port have done nothing wrong with their bid for Brown

Correct me if i am wrong but i think its Hawthorn thats telling fibs here

And who better to deny it but Kennett

I'd put my money on Kennett directly contradicting Pelchen and the Hawthorn footy dept without consultation, arrogantly of the opinion he is acting with the best interests of the football club in mind.

He's the type that would be completely oblivious to the fact that moves like this are a good way to fracture a strong club.

Already their CEO has left...

And now the football dept would be rightly livid with ol' Jeff.

Maybe when you make statements like that, you actually come across a lot more foolish than most..

Give Daw the footy and watch him go to work..

I cant find highlights of LJ and Wonna that come close to Daws highlight package- obviously pre their AFL career- to compare.

The kicking, marking, tap work, 1% ers - smothering and forward-line pressure, tackling, turn of foot..

Have a look a few minutes in when he marks at half-back / wing, against 3 opponents, plays on from that mark - turns them inside out - bolts away from the 3 of them, even the smalls, runs to 50 and slots the goal..

You show me where LJ or Wonna showed that much promise pre- their AFL careers? That goal has 'superstar' written all over it.

We know how good theyve become / are becoming, but Daw looks every bit good as LJ or Wonna or even Nik-Nat did pre-AFL, even better. Just because some people see it that way, doesnt make them fools.

One highlight. You are basing all of this on ONE highlight.

I shouldn't be surprised considering the source, but God help you...

We have enough project players! No to Majak Daw

I want to recruit players who have been breaking thier balls playing and training for footy since they were 10 years old not project players that only see a footy when they are 16 - 18 and have some athletic abilty. I was so dissapointed when the bombers gave quinn a game over some of there other players like jetta who deserve a game

Yeah, the mentioned quality kicking, marking, tap work, 1% ers - smothering and forward-line pressure, tackling, turn of foot.. and that goal

-all occured in the one highlight.. A 4 and a half minute highlight

You know youve made a good point when...

Hey, Freak is an exulted figure in the theatre of being wrong and naive...

But, yes, DD made little sense.

That's the problem with YouTube - makes everyone a recruiter.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
