Darren Jolly returning to Victoria

Collingwood has made Darren Jolly an offer- http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/pies...f-1225782324014

I think he should have never been let go in the first place. One of Daniher's major blunders.

What do you think?

True, but it would have been hard for Jolly to wait it out till Jeff White retired or slowed up.

The real problem was that White had so much stamina, he rarely needed a rest thus not really letting another ruckmen settle or cement a spot.

How old is Jolly by the way?

Melbourne should offer pick 50 for C Wood.

Jolly's Trade got us pick 15 in 2004 for Dunn.

Probably a loss on Jolly's form over last 2 years versus what Dunn has Dunn (pun intended) over last 2 years

White had his best season in 2004 though which at the time would of vindicated Daniher's decision.

It was a tough decision and one which in the end after 5 years is a loss due to White's inconsistency and Dunn's lack of progress.

I don't want Jolly back though probably just because he left in the first place and won a premiership.

Jolly was born on the 6/11/81 making him 27.

Right in his prime years- as I think 26 to 30 are the years tall maximise their abilities.

If we took jolly now we would still be looking for a ruckman to carry on during our premiership window which should be open in 3 years (at which time jolly will be 30 and will have 1 maybe 2 years left of footy, and good footy is debatable!)

Love Jolly, but his time in red and blue is over, we need to find someone in their early 20s, or find a kid who is going to be solid in this years draft to ensure in 3 years time we have a ruckman who can be playing their best footy during our stint at the top.

Ruckman seem to go to their early 30's- I think Jolly would last till we had a window of opportunity, that is, within 5 years. He then would be around the same age as Steven King. With the possibility of Jamar going, we need a top ruckman.

I think he would be ideal.

Congratulations Redleg. Part owner of Rock Kingdom, winner of today's Epsom Handicap (Group 1). Pity I wasn't given the tip.

Hopefully, this will be a preview of a better year for the Dees!

Rock Kingdom!!!

He's my half brother.

Any chance we can get him down from Sydney for pick 11?

SPENCER, JAMAR, JOHNSON, MEESEN, thats alot of unacomplished ruckmen. If you add JOLLY, and let him be the mentoir of SPENCER it will look very much like the STYNES/ WHITE combo.

Get JOLLY back to play 1st ruck and mentoir SPENCER as his understudy for 3 years then slowly allow SPENCER to play 1st ruck and ease JOLLY out of the game.

I think we have lacked in the ruck the last two years and should nuture SPENCER, instead of throwing him to the wolves.

Also we could then delist/trade two of our current ruckmen to make room for youngsters on our list.

After the scare of tracker saying that Jamar was going to Port- I think we do not need Jolly any longer - leave him to the Collee wobbles.

("DARREN Jolly could be headed for Collingwood next year after telling Sydney he wants to return to Victoria for family reasons")

"Rival clubs have known all week that Collingwood was prepared to trade its first selection, No. 14, in the national draft, and the Herald Sun learnt last night it had held detailed talks with the Swans about exchanging that draft pick for Jolly.

The deal, if signed, would place massive pressure on Josh Fraser, who after 10 years at Collingwood could be headed for a new club.

Fraser was overlooked for the Magpies' preliminary final team, which lost badly to Geelong, despite playing a key role in the side's outstanding mid-to-late home-and-away season form."

He has long carried knee problems.

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-sydn...s--darren-jolly I make it 47 games for the Dees.

Probably too old for our developement program & would cost us too much, & too similar to what we have in Jamar.

We should stick to youth or up to 23/4 yr olds.

Another ruckman bites the dust with the announcement of Robert Campbell from Hawthorn, shows how important big men are to football clubs and their worth

Pick 14 seems way to cheap for a player like Jolly who is contracted for two years if you ask me.

Hawthorn seem to need a ruckman more than Burgoyne and im sure 9 and a player such as Kennedy would be more apealling than 14 plus a collingwood fringe player.

Good call..........and Jolly wouldn't come with the same injury question marks Burgoyne would either.

I reckon players are ok up to 32-33, as long as they're abilities hold up. Ie. Steven King to name but one.

Congrats Redleg. Will be keeping an eye out over the fields for the spring. Heading to Melb by any chance?

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
