I've been waiting for today for almost three years.

Back in '07 when it was clear everyone in the side, including some of the coaches (all of them?), would be moved on, I remember thinking it would take us 3 end of season delists to get a fresh start.

Bailey now has a list he's more or less recruited himself.

The worst of our bottoming out has happened, and it's now time for phase 2 of DB's coaching stint (ibid whyyoulittle)...

We will have losses next year. Some of them will be by more than 10 goals. But the worst is over. Now we get to see the team we'll be following for the next 10 years. Even though they won't be winning too many games next year, it won't be nearly as painful as '07-'09.

The three worst years of footy following I've done, and MFC is still here.

Next Year we will have Scully, Pick 2 plus others (18,34 and possible a bargain at PSD1) plus we will get a full pre season into Watts, Jurrah, Blease and Strauss.

After three hard years we owe about 15 sides some decent retribution in the coming years with no mercy.

Bring it on in 2010.

Especially interested in the PSD1 as someone special may slip through the cracks

Starting to believe that midfielers are the new "importance" with list managment

Half Backs and Half Forwards are now basically midfielders

Agreed RR, you and i come from different angles but i know next year we will both be yelling our guts out for victories.

3 Years of hell have been endured & the FD deserve great credit for the work done so far.

Phase 2 of Bailey's coaching begins tomorrow.

He now has his own list that he has put together.

The distasteful period is now over and we are ready for phase 2: to focus beyond mere improvement and competitiveness - now our focus shifts firmly onto results and on-field success.

Today is the first day of the rise. From here on in, we only get better.

This season was not nearly as bad as the previous two.

We saw real signs of improvement, we unearthed some future stars, and we finish the year with two of the best kids in the country coming our way.

This season was the beginning of a successful era for the MFC, and when you consider that this time last year we got belted by Richmond, you can see just how far we've already come.

Bring on 2010... you know we're coming :D

I've got my preferred recruits as have all of us but I'd hate to be the one calling out the numbers come draft day. Talk about pressure in the last 'free' draft to get it right.

So far most (not all) elements of a successful footy club are taking shape. This call is going to be massive.

Agree with everything that has been said above ........... very exciting times ahead for the MFC (which is a hell of a lot more than what many of us were saying after round 22, 2008!). Well done to Bails and the rest of the FD.

Over the next few weeks, several very difficult (and final) decisions will have to be made about who of the existing players won't be with us next year. I'm glad that they are not mine to make.

Fair call, but the 18,000-odd "supporter-members" who didn't turn up to games against Freo and Adelaide might suggest otherwise. Hope to see them all back on board, and in bigger numbers next year. In 3 years time when we win our next premiership it will be even sweeter having sat through the crap every week at the 'G.

Couldn't have said it better myself

Today was the last day for a long long time that I go to the football, both expecting and wanting to lose.

We probably won't make the 8 next year but that won't mean we won't give it a shake and it won't mean there won't be 22 players and a full board of support staff throwing everything at it every week.

From next year, we develop by winning.
