Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Bit of a stupid question but after todays game will we get too much confidence or will Bailey make sure we get it?

We have to win one more to lose the priority pick - we play Carlton and then St. Kila.

Not much chance of losing, but i'll never trust the blues.

My only concern with the Carlton game is that they are very one dimensional. If we manage to shut down Fevola they are very capable of falling in a heap. Perhaps we should rest Jurrah and Bate as a precaution? Bring Zomer up to fill in the gap in the forward fifty and we'd be about set I think.

Even if we get a draw (2 points) we lose the priority pick, & Scully.

Freo have less percentage than us & if we overtake them on the ladder they'll get first pick.

Blues worked their asses off, coming back from interstate, we'd be some sort of chance. And the Bombers finals hopes are alive as they're one of the only sides this year to knock off the Saints in a half.

It's shaking a little. I'm still confident, but a voice inside my head says we'd find some way to screw it up.

Looked at the fixture, they are playing Essendon at Subiaco next week which is definitely a chance of an upset (keep in mind the Eagles beat the Dons last week or the week before). Then Geelong at Skilled Stadium.

My paranoia won't go away until we've knocked off Carlton next week. I think the Saints are safe from our fast finish, but Carlton are just inconsistent enough to ruin our plans.

I disagree...

The Blues have a top 4 spot to play for. They'll be relieved to be playing us, and have obviously been more inconsistent... But a loss will be FAR more detrimental to their year.

The Saints, going by what's taking place at the G, KNOW they have the McLelland trophy in their keeping and know that if they get hurt in the last 2 rounds they will cost themselves at least 2 finals, and maybe a flag.

It seems every year the favourite gets done by the wooden spooner. And it's because the bottom team has a LOT more to play for. Like I said, I'm confident, but not completely.

Whats that got to do with the priority pick?

Carlton will beat us. We only play well at the 'g'. We're just no good under the roof at this stage...

Plus, they are playing for a 'home' final now, not just a final. They'll be stung into action with the knowledge that they could potentially avoid a trip to Adelaide or Bribane in week 1 of the finals by beating us.

If Essendon knocks the Saints off today, that will be a good result for us as well. It'll be a wake up call for them...

We don't have any chance against the Saints. The priority is all ours.

The Saints don't need a wake up call to beat us. A few of you need a stiff drink and a lie down. Scully's in the bag.

We just smashed the buggery out of the biggest joke of a midfield in the league. It was a great win, but let's not kid ourselves, there will be no such luxury next week. It would take our absolute best and their absolute worst for that to happen. I'm sure there's plenty of 'experimenting' that can be done should we be in any danger of winning next week.

No point even discussing St. Kilda. There's a few pretty good reasons why they're first and we're last.

To be honest, I enjoyed putting the PP out of my mind and enjoying footy properly again today. I barracked hard for a win and we belted them; this meant far more to me than the hollow win against Port, which just left me feeling sick. I could've gone a few more days before anyone mentioned the PP again.

It was fantastic, wasn't it? Gotta say, I didn't realise it, but I'd unknowingly forgotten what it felt like to go to the footy and really barrack for your team.

What a sad state of affairs...

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
