Dees set to take Picks 1 and 2

Also word is Sandilands wants out of Freo, so they may offer him for pick 2? Personally I don't think he's worth pick 2.

I'd be surprised if that were the case. He's from WA, they usually don't like moving east...

He's 26 at the end of this year, so I don't think we'd be trading a 1st round pick for him tbh. Great player, but not a good fit for where our list is at (in terms of giving up a 1st round pick).

PSD pick 1 shouldn't be forgotten.

True. I didn't think of that. But it's not really that crucial. I'd still prefer no wooden spoon.

And the PSD is different, anyway, right? The picks are usually pre-determined - there isn't much competition. I doubt any club would have taken Jurrah after us in the PSD. So it's not too important, pick 2 as opposed to pick 1.

So, in this year's draft:

ND Picks #1, #2, #18, #34, #50, (66)?

PSD #1

Can play but don't think he'll be as good as those five. Mind you though who knows how Cale will turn out, has the potential to be anything.

I'm more than willing to give Morton some time. Given the way he's been growing, he's still a few years off getting his body sorted out. Once he fills out I think we'll find ourselves with a top line wing/mid something along the lines of Adam Goodes (I admit the comparison comes to mind after seeing him playing on Goodes last week). With his size and running, he could turn into a serious handful for the opposition.

Morton

We have to re-sign him first. It's ridiculous that we haven't given him a four year deal. If that's the asking rate, he's worth it. Sure him up, with GC and WS coming into it.

It could prove vital. It depends who's in the PSD, but this year, I wouldn't mind predicting that with GC on the cards, there might be a few shock names to join the PSD, so having the first pick is brilliant.

So we would need atleast six valid spots, robbo, mcdonald, whelan assuming they retire then wich 3 do we let go?

Whilst some people may not be too impressed with another spoon don't underestimate the benefit of being at the start of every round in the draft as a result. We picked off a few players last year (Bennell/Jetta) because we were 1 spot in front of WCE who were after them both. The fact that we have (not just 1,2) but 18, 34 etc will be damn important. We could still get a decent player at 18.

We've all heard about how we were the most professional of the amateur clubs and the most amateur of the professional clubs, well welcome to the the world of corporate football! Forget about the footy you grew up watching as a kid, it's a different game now, a game of commercial imperatives. Tanking is as practical as it is logical. Vlad won't admit it, but he doesn't need to. The AFL is a quasi-socialist construction anyway, but the alternative of rampant capitalist free marketers would kill us off in the blink of an eye. I don't lose any sleep about it, it's just how footy is now, the game must change with it's environment or go the way of the dodo.

Luke Hodge?

????

Hodge was not a PSD#1 pick

If he is out of contract, I doubt he will not stay at the Hawks. And he certainly wont end up in the PSD

It could indeed. Its a nice card to have when another Clubs negotiations are going badly with a very good player.

What I meant was he might slip through to the PSD. You never know, more of a pipe dream, but if it did we could make him captain and get him for basically nothing. :P

Bit of Trengove footage...starts at about the mid point of the clip.

Oh my god he is 8 years old!:wacko::lol:

With every passing draft I feel like I've aged 10 years.

Happy to hear Trengove say that he just wants to be drafted and doesn't care where. Pack your bags son, because you ain't staying in S.A., that's for sure.

They wouldn't let him go. No chance, not unless he wanted to, which i doubt because his family has relocated to Melbourne to watch him and his brother play. Plus he wouldn't be that dumb leaving the Dee's with all the potential we have....or will have.

If they don't sign him up now, you never know, GC might well lure him away. Particulary, when some player agents are more concerned about getting the best investment for themselves, rather than getting a deal in their clients best interests. If we offer him a long term contract, that's saying, 'we value your services, Cale'. If we don't, it's saying, 'well, we don't want to committ to you just yet'. Under normal circumstances, I'd say leave it another year, before offering him a big contract, but with the spectre of GC looming, I'm getting a little touchy underneath the collar.

They all say that. He's not exactly going to come out and say that he refuses to leave SA, will he? Still, looks like a great prospect.

Freo 17.14.116

Port 11.7.73

Ouch.

I would take Picks 1+3 over 1+2 and wooden spoon any day of the week.

We'll probably get thrashed by Freo next week.

This is the perfect year to win the wooden spoon, makes us the big player on draft day.

The Spoon is no longer a big deal.

I agree. In fact the big prize is the Premiership Cup, always will be. Picks 1 and 2 are the next best prize.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
