well we'd still need to win 5 to lose pick 1...

if we win tomorrow, and we have freo at home, that's 4 wins... could we snag another somewhere, perhaps... however I don't think we will win tomorrow, I think we will beat freo, and hopefully that's it... although I'd be happy if we snuck 1 more win in somewhere...

I'd rather finish 14th or 15th with less than 4 wins, wouldn't bother me if we got pick 3 or 4 instead of 2, and would rather that than getting the spoon...

weve got scully even if we dont finish on the bottom - just have to make sure we dont win more than 4 games.

although i want to win games.

besides, freo can pick him, we'll just trade cameron bruce for scully and pick 4 in 2010 anyway

I'm sure we'll win our share of games coming home. A win tomorrow over Port Adelaide will get us off the bottom and let's not forget that PA have won only time against us at the G.

Lose tomorrow and I think we'll be OK. I'm sure we'll beat Freo and should get one of Richmond or North, making 4. The Dockers have a shocking run over the next 7 weeks - quite possibly won't win another game. That would most likely give us 1 and 3 or 1 and 4 (depending on Richmond). If we get up tomorrow I reckon we're in strife!!

Scully is the likely No 1 pick.

Only WCE and MFC are in the race for a 1st round PP.

MFC just needs less than 4.5 wins and a lower end of season ladder position to WCE and Scully is ours.

The only impact Freo can have is if they dont turn up to the MFC game like they did today.

Freo can only get Scully f they finish last on the ladder and MFC and WCE have 4.5 wins or more.

I remember it well. We were robbed that day. A certain free kick to davey at the city end not paid. Even my father in law( who had never seen a game in his life) thought we should have won that game

That's right. If Freo don't win another game (or win one more even) and WC win one (eg beat Freo), and we win tomorrow and pick up 2 more as well from North, Rich and Freo, then there are no priority picks and we will finish either 15th or 14th most likely. Scully heads to Freo - if they want him!!

ucanchoose - from my memory it was a goal to Davey that was disallowed because of a non-existent free paid against Neitz in the marking contest.

2 minutes later, Junior was pinged for deliberate out of bounds whilst trying to handball the ball the Rivers - 30 minutes, last quarter, down by 6, why the hell would we deliberately force it out?

That game inspired me to join this forum in fact.

Tonight's game was a disgrace. 17.11 to 0.3 for three of the quarters.

And Rhino, technically isn't it that we can't afford to have more than 4.125 wins - isn't it less than 16.5 points?

Correct. I didn't see the free kick, I was too busy watching the ball sail into the crowd jumping up and down like and idiot!

In an ideal world. I would love for freo to finish bottom of the ladder.

But we still only win 4 games.

That way we get pick 1 + 3 and dont get the spoon for another year.

Freo needs KPP so will either take a punt on Butcher, or will pick up a local boy eg. Morabito/Lucas.

The only real downside is they would get a priority pick at the end of the 2nd round.

Fremantle were absolutely [censored] tonight. They will be lucky to win another game.

I Would love to have Niel Craig as our coach, crows are so well drilled.

They're now a win and .17 percent ahead of us. Beat Port tomorrow by just a bit and we're off the bottom!!

Over the next 2 weeks -

Rnd-16 Rich play Kangaroos

Rnd-17 Freo play West Coast

These will be interesting outcomes, we'll see who's trying to do what.

Crows are very well drilled, but also have state of the art facilities that get upgraded nearly every year.... After walking through their training area, it is easy to see how Melbourne have fallen behind a lot of the other clubs..... Our preparation over the last few years has been poor due to not having a place to call home....

Unfortunately the reality is even if you have a heart as big as Rocky, in the AFL, the Ivan Drago's will win 9/10 times!

Even if Fremantle do get the first pick, I think theres as much chance they'll select Morabito as Scully.

Obviously Scully is the better prospect, but in the same position last year they took homegrown Stephen Hill over better prospects.

I'm certain they'll take Scully, and even if they don't, I'm not sure we'll be next in line anyway!

The 'go home' factor plays a big role in draft selection these days. We've been burnt ourselves!

I doubt that. It's either 16th or 15th.

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
