Jack Watts

That's crazy, he's well off his limit. There are plenty of players in our team no where near reaching their potential thanks to Neeld and he's one of them.

ok your right,my mistake

Normally when a player is out of contract I'm either concerned he will go or will be happy to see the back of him. With Jack I genuinely don't care either way, I just don't think Jack and Connors have handled this in a way that sees him in a positive light.

Every comment on "how much he loves the club" or how "loyal he is", seems to be followed with a but and thus what is said is irrelevant. All indications seem to be he'll stay, when he does I don't want hollow comments I want him to state that he wants to be one of the guys to make the MFC great again. That's the sort of person I want.

NM has very accurate sources. Looks like he is staying.

The manager's job is to get the best deal for his client. By going to Carlton it sounds like Watts is more likely to:

a) get more money

b) play finals sooner

More than likely Connors fee will be based on the size of Watts contract, so it makes sense for the agent to try and talk him into accepting a larger offer.

If I was Watts manager up until Paul Roos day I would have told him to leave as well. Whilst he hasn't covered himself in glory, Watts has been mishandled and under developed. Off field the club has hardly been stable either. You couldn't blame his manager for suggesting a fresh start.

...and his manager has played a big part in this. He has been badly advised, in particular his appearance on the footy show.

Jack should seriously consider getting a new Manager, this one is a dud

why would you let Jack go on the footy show when he isn't sure what he is doing, made him look like a dick to everyone.

I really think there are only two things missing from Watts' game at the moment, but they sure make a difference;

Collision play.

I wouldn't say soft, just not enthusiastic or confident. It's much like when people hover around an unfamiliar photocopier; they know how it works but they feel like there might be something different that they'll miss and that'll screw the whole thing up, so they linger, stuck in a mental fog.

Straight-line running.

Great lateral movement, pretty good acceleration, but it's not often you see Watts steaming along at top speed for sustained stretches, whether to get the handball receive or break a line. Obviously Adam Goodes is the pinnacle example of a tall player doing this (and a big part of why he is a champion) but for Watts it is completely missing at the moment.

Both aspects are trainable, I'd say. And both are very much between the ears more than they are a physical limitation. So, we could see Watts make a dramatic step up, no doubt about it.

His second efforts are appalling at times.

He needs to stop ball watching and thinking and just start reacting in contested/close footy situations.

I was sitting in the front row on the boundary and a pack formed right on the boundary line and Jack was sitting in the seat next to me waiting for the ball to come out.

I find it funny that people are starting to question our forward line and where Watts fits. To me it is simple, he is a half forward flack and that is the position that Jack Watts is best suited to at this stage of his physical development. I see him and Howe rotating of HFF/wing and pushing deep forward for a spell. The only tall forward we have that is that traditional tall forward is Chris Dawes, you look at Watts, Clark, Hogan and even Fitzpatrick they are agile and good at ground level.

I get exited seeing Paul Roos at our club and I'm sure he is exited to have a foward line lining up

Kent Clark Hogan

Howe Dawes Watts

Would love a defensive small forward Kent is our best option at the moment

HOGAN, DAWES: Hagendaas

HOWE, WATTS: (Who where and when)

CLARK, KENT: Superman

Surely this must have been planned from the beginning.

Does anyone feel Jetta could be moulded in to that defensive fwd type player. his defensive effort is very good. doesnt get much footy but does he have potential?

Jetta can pretty much play any position forward, midfield or back.....in the VFL.

No but I feel he could (and should) be delisted.

If he were to make it I reckon it would be as a small back.

But I've lost confidence he'll take the next step.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
