OK guys, after watching Colin Kick goals on the run from 50-55 meters out on the run for the last few months i believe that this is his trademark and i get really excited when i see him with the ball in his hands having a ping for goal from beyond the ark, do you agree with me by saying that this is fast becoming his trademark? also it is fast becoming his weapon, the goal he kicked on the weekend was probably a 60-65 meter kick which split the middle, i would back him with my last $20 to kick the goal on the run!!!

do you agree?

Don't blow your load too quick, he also didn't make the distance with on in the last...and will find it even harder to do from the sidelines.

It is exciting though. I really enjoyed our long goals on the weekend - it's been a while.

Bate's 2 from outside 50 as well as Green's, Jones' and Sylvia's running goals, made us look far more dangerous.

I agree trademark. He's almost at reliable with it.

Yep. Forget which game it was when he had a set shot from (IIRC) 45 and went right back into the centre square for a big run up and belted it through. Should do it from every set shot.

I would hate to be an opposition defender when Col is streaming towards the 60m line, do you run back to defend the goal or stay on your man? Quite a weapon.

Same. It's been such a long time since we had that many great long goals in a game, was really fantastic. We kicked incredibly straight too, only 2 or 3 behinds to 3/4 time i think.

How good was Green's first goal??? I went bezerk after that, 4 (or was it 5?) bounces, with a man hot on his tail, and the classy finish. And an awesome fist-pumping celbration... shivers down the spine!

The one in the last he let go from well within the centre square.

This post highlights how bad his OP was effecting him. Even last year although better than previous years he would have shots from 50m out and not make the distance.

Agreed. Those long bombs are becoming his specialty. When he came off after kicking the one on the weekend I had tears in my eyes.

Stick it up em Col (that includes all you Demonland whingersl).

That was the last quarter, his goal came in the 2nd, probably fatigue being the issue here, would take a bit of effort to keep launching those type of kicks.

Its interesting because a couple of years ago he was pretty hopeless from beyond 40m. This may have been a hangover from OP which apparently effects kicking power.

Really important now that he stays on track off the field in the next 3 weeks. Hope he realises how stoked everybody is in the efforts he's been putting in over the past half dozen or so games, how important he is to this team, and how much support he has around the club. OK, he's blown it by lashing out, but that's history now and he needs to show the strength of character to hold it together until he can play again, and then to put up with opponents inevitably trying to get under his skin when he returns. I have a feeling that if he can overcome all this to the end of the year, we may have seen the last of Col's brain snaps.

I agree with your thoughts. I also agree with the term "a leopard never changes it's spots."

The next 3 weeks are crucial to him finishing off the year well.

I guess you cant please everyone.

Im not sure why so many Demon fans are so hard on SYlvia.

He was good in 2008, and has been out best player by a mile in 2009.

He has made a habit of belting through goals from 50+, and it is a joy to watch.

Bit disappointed in Dean Bailey here.

I don't remember him publicly pointing the finger at Cameron Bruce when on three separate occasions on Queens Birthday he was too lazy to chase and apply pressure.

I guess some players have a free pass from public criticism.

Where did I say he hasn't had a good 7 weeks (please note, 7 weeks is half of the season to date).

A "trademark" of kicking goals from 50-55 is an odd one to have, given many in the AFL can do it (including one Matthew Bate). I find it odd that many who have defended Sylvia for so long, not that I have a problem with that, have been so quick to immediately claim he's turned the corner and is our best player.

When getting back into the team, he'd need to make sure he returns to the same form he's been in recently, or else it will end up being a good 1/3 of a season.

I'm not disappointed in Bailey here, I think he's done the right thing.

Bruce on the other hand... but who is to say he hasn't been called out behind closed doors?

You gain nothing as a coach by publicly bemoaning the insipid efforts of one of your more senior players and supposed "leaders".

Keeping tabs 45h, good to see. As long as other players on the list are held just as accountable like your holding Sylvia accountable, I'll be happy.

Ie. There won't be many having a good 1/3 of a season, if you get my drift.
