Just watched the Bailey press conference on line. He looks like a man who's out of ideas. These last 2 games have clearly effected Bailey and his demeanour is really starting to resemble what you'd expect from a coach with a 4-30 record overall.

He got a bit upset with one journo who asked him whether or not he singled out the leadership group for last nights debacle. Bailey replied "all players share the responsibility".

He thought our tackling was more or less half assed. He was also very upset we gave away the early free kick goals.

-----------------

Has our list gotten to the point where it's uncoachable and unwinnable?

Last November I was thinking that Rich was the safe bet, as you can't beat a class midfielder. Watts and Naita came with a risk I thought. At the moment Rich looks the pick of the draft and good luck to Brisbane.

Very early days though, and I haven't seen Watts's game last night.

Morton seems more of a concern at the moment.

You also can't touch the senior coach either.

We're 4-30 since rd 1 2008 and they'll tell you that things are going rosy under Bailey.

The club is all talk at the moment. I think the MFC website should ban player interviews during the week outlining how they're going to make amends and are sick of honourable losses - it's all fluff.

I've been noticing a new phenomenon from generation Y and it's prevalent in the OP. And it's not that they think they're "versing" everyone, it's their incorrect use of the word "his". Often they really mean "he's" as in "he is", but they type "his". Staggering really.

But I digress. Watts will be a gem of a footballer. If you can't see it now that's ok, but the player you witness today you won't recognise in 3-5 years time.

I'm more concerned by our skill level and woeful midfield. More than ever I think we need 2 mids with whatever top 4 picks we receive at year's end. I've got no problem with Butcher if 'he's' (or should I say "his" so that some understand me) a clear standout, as top quality kpps are as rare as hen's teeth, but if there's any doubt I'd go with a mid to compliment Scully. I think we have the worst midfield I've ever seen.

You're right. Lets all panic.

It amazes me that so many can't see the forest for the trees.

If we just look at the Hawks and Blues of a few years ago who everybody would thrash and look at them today. It obviously takes time at the bottom with several draft picks to rebuild. We are doing that and will rise again with a strong list.

How in hell can you expect a young Watts etc to make the difference in his first year as a skinny kid.

I know this is probably wasted on those who just want to win a couple of games now and bugger the future, but be patient the Demons will rise again and hopefully stay up there for a long time.

H, watching tonight's game led me to the same point. We don't need another KPF. Bater will be fine as 2nd or 3rd tall. BUT if we cannot get the ball through the midfield we are dead. And just getting one is not enough. I found Morton unconvincing last night. Being reliant on Davey for any zip or line-breaking is an ineffective strategy but it is the only one we have. Blease better be good, and he well might be. BUT in case he is not, then we'd get two this year. I went last night with ehe hope of a cheeky win - now I'm (feeling sick again) just looking for player development and for weekly losses.

I thought Moloney was great, Sylvia was good, and the rest, including ruck, were NQR.

Just wondering if the scores of 'supporters' that advocate losing who seemed to have swamped Demonland are satisfied with the way we lost last night? Did it fulfill your request for a loss in the appropriate way? Were you comforted by the fact that the figures are looking good? Because to me it feels awful and Picks One and Two aren't going to fix what we saw last night.

If your satisfied by our club losing games then don't complain how they lose them.

We are not setting up for the future right now. We are tearing the hearts out of our young fellas and I feel empty.

If you advocate tanking, you are a tanker.

Anyone who loves the club would feel sick by such an insipid performance. That said, I'm going to be patient this year. What other choices are there ? We need stars and we need them quickly. Our best chance of procuring stars is through the pointy end of the draft. The expectation of getting a couple of top 3 picks helps keep morale up. It's not the issue of tanking, it's the issue of getting better. And we know what will help us get better.

So patience is required in 09. But it will be a different story in 2010. I will be out of patience next year if we don't see some measurable improvement.

You're predictably boring these days. Why don't you surprise me and share some really good footy insight ?

If it's so obvious then you really need to think before you post. By the way, you never did answer my question in the other thread.

So how does it taste?

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
