Natanui better than Watts?

Just been watching a bit of the Richmond - West Coast game, very impressed with Natanui looks like a future superstar, any thoughts from others maybe we should have drafted him instead of Jack. My gut feeling is that Natanui will be a better player than Watts

I will reserve judgement till they have played a few more than a few quarters each.

I think you have a case of premature evaluation.

Naitanui's debut was more impressive than Watts, however this isn't really that surprising. Naitanui has been playing against men for several seasons, so physically wise he is much more advanced that young Jack.

There's no doubt that Naitanui will make it, his fierce determination will see to it.

One being better than the other discussions now is futile!

Having said that, Natanui looks like being a cracker..............but I think Watts will be a ripper for us as well........both clubs will win!

After watching the game I came in here just to see whether or not someone would be silly enough to start a thread like this, and lo and behold, what do I find? "Is Naitanui better than Watts?"

Ridiculous thread.

There's always one isn't there.

TBH I hope Naitanui has a great career, how he goes as a player makes no difference to what our priorities were and our decision making process. We went one way with a forward and the Eagles went a different way with a ruck. Exciting kids in the league is what it is all about.

I sense a troll. And I seem to be the only one.

NicNat will be a very good awkward mobile aggressive tall. Watts will be a creative tall in the Hird mould.

I saw them both in juniors and haven't changed my mind. Definitely Watts.

Nic Nat - 1st game 11 Disposals

Watts - 1st game 8 Disposals

not that much difference.. you would expect Nic Nat to get more playing in the ruck... i think they will both be good players.. but i am happy with watts as we needed a forward

Give them some time mate. They have both played one game and already you are saying we might have made the wrong decision.

For the next 10 - 12 years these 2 and a couple of others from this draft will be compared, so lets just wait until they have both played 100 games

I knew this wouldn't take long...

Nic Nat played a fantastic game. Was influential as a first gamer. We really got a glimpse into his freakish athletic skills. And no doubt, is going to be a superstar. An excitement machine!!!

The 2 will are always going to be compared.

But I am still happy with Watts. Its 'Watt' we needed.

I think 1958 put it best when he said its just exciting to have young players like this in the system now.

How about we be sensible and say that if Nic Nat is looking more ready it's hardly surprising given that he's most of a year older and has been with the club full time. Wait 'til this time next year before you even think about making comparisons. Even better, wait ten years and see who's career is more impressive. I believe the club made the right choice.

Fully agree. Nic Nat will never be as good as Jack. Sure, he has athleticism but is very raw on skills. Watts is a NATURAL footballer. It is silly however to start comparing the two already after one game each.

I watched that game to see NN & reckon he did well for a first gamer. But it's so different coming from the WAFL -- he's used to playing on big blokes & although in some ways he plays like a bull at a gate he has presence beyond his 19 years.

I also think they're doing something right at Swan Districts -- we got Bennell & Jetta from there -- they had something like seven go in the last draft. I'm pushing at every opportunity for a look at Lewis Jetta.

Was really impressed with Naitanui, he's already a good build and his athleticism was evident straight away. He set up an early goal with a clever fake then handball which shows he is more than just an athlete and is improving already on his pre-draft form. He can play a bit, but probably won't reach his full potential for a couple of years you would think. Will be an interesting battle between he and JW for the rest of their careers no doubt. But to try and judge who's better after just one game each is just silly.

As others have already said, we will have to wait at least a couple of seasons before we can start comparing Watts and Naitanui. Watts has some catching up to do in the physical side of things, whereas NN is just learning the game. NN has been playing against men for a while, so it was always expected he'd have more of an immediate impact, and his better debut is testament to that.

IMO, they're both gonna be superstars. It would be very interesting to re-visit this thread at the end of say, the 2012 season, after 4 full years in the system, to compare the two. We'll definitely have the full picture by then.

But to judge right now, well, thats just ridiculous.

Or maybe those who sensed it didn't feel the need to engage - 'don't feed the troll' and all ;)

Yes, that can apply, but not when the thread is 9 posts in.

There are impressionable nuffies that read here ;)

NicNat looks like he has put on quite a bit of bulk. Should be a great player. So will Jack. Its wonderful to see great players. If Watts was a dud then we should be concerned, but he has too much natural talent and is too smart to think he will be anything but a great player.

People troll to draw attention to themselves, by talking about the post rationally the troll doesn't get what he wants. In this thread there is only one nuff nuff who is giving the troll what they want, what makes it more embarrasing for that person is that he is doing it to try and make himself look superior to eveyone else.

Nic Nat looked amazing last night (Robert Walls fell in love instantly) and compared him to Carl Dietrichs debut?.... What a mark against 3 Richmond "Men"....He will be unbelievable in the future and I will enjoy watching him...

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
