I still advocate that us rotating the QB game with the Pies for a home game isn't entirely out of our own interests.

It would give us one extra home game per year (in years we play Collingwood twice) and may help to increase the interest in the game (if Pies fans show up in their droves and it draws 75,000 the stature of the game would grow. I worry about this, because if we get sub 60,000 again it would be a massive concern for the club holding the fixture. Many games this year have already drawn over 70,000

I have it on very good authority that Jack Watts is a certain starter against Collingwood. I would not post this if I was not sure, but I have been told he is certain starter on Queens Birthday.

Hmmmm.... every single student who has exams starting the following day (like me), have just found yet another reason to justify going to the game over studying.

I can feel the board going into meltdown mode regardless of whether this is true or not.

How did you find this out? If your right i cant wait. There will be a lot of Melbourne supporters at that game if he does

I know how excited MFC supporters are, So I will say again I would not post this if I didn't have a credible source.

Ah yes, here I can feel very lucky since my exams start on the Wednesday, so there's no guilt at all. Yay.

Well, I hope you are right. Because your head is on the chopping block otherwise!

(Long time reader, first time poster) If it's true, bring on Monday! It will be great to go to the football with every Melbourne supporter oozing optimism. Even if he doesn't star, it hopefully will be the start of a beautiful relationship for the next 10 years.

Stand by the 'G'.

Perhaps this would be an excellent time for negotiating with a better stadium deal with the 'G'! :D ........if proven correct.

....And more. He'll go beyond 28, surely.

The pointers are there at least. This story appeared this afternoon on the Melbournefc website, and Peter German said:

"Jack had 22 touches and was steady again. He used the ball well and he played mainly up the ground. He was No. 1 with our inside 50 kicks for the game. It was a reasonable game and he's starting to show some good consistent form".

With these other reports:

Liam Jurrah – Liam was very good. He was back in the senior side – he tackled and pressured really well – and finished it off with three goals. He moved up the ground as the game went on and played with a bit more freedom. He took a step forward and it was really pleasing.

Kicks 10, Handballs 7, Marks 5, Tackles 6, Goals 3

Michael Newton – He was very good and produced another consistent performance. Again, a couple of shots on goal when astray – that's a part of his game he's got to get right – but the way he is going about his footy at the moment and over the past five weeks has been outstanding. His defensive and offensive work has been very good.

Kicks 14, Handballs 5, Marks 9, Tackles 5, Goals 3

Russell Robertson – His whole game was good, but he could've been very good, because he kicked 3.5 and took 12 marks. He chased and tackled and did all of the things we asked him to do – he was very good at that. But he could've kicked seven or eight goals and that was the only area of his game that let him down.

Kicks 12, Marks 12, Goals 3

I'd expect something to be done in the very near future to bolster a very ordinary, low-scoring attack.

I was contemplating deleting that link, but it's so funny and appropriate that I attached a warning instead :lol::lol:

That was pretty much my first reaction, which is actually quite disturbing

I think I laughed more at that, than the clip.

I have also heard it on very good authority that he will be playing on Queens Birthday.

I have grown up playing with Jack and cannot wait to see him out there in the red and blue.

Get excited. Big weekend for us in so many ways

I'm about to die

Do we need to start a "Jack Watts" board for this week, ala the Judd board (only with a better outcome! )?

I hope people are excited for the right reasons, and not because they think Watts will kick 10 on debut and we'll win.

I for one fully expect him to do little. Get a nice feel for the game, maybe kick a goal courtesy of the boys giving off a cheap kick/handball to ensure he marks and gets one early. The excitement will come from his physical presence on the field, and the possibility of the greatness he might provide us in years to come.

Lets hope nobody comes on here on Monday night and starts a "Jack Watts is a dud, as if he didn't kick 10, delist him now!!!!!11" thread

I'm just excited to see Number 4 running around on the G.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
