DROP THE CAPTAIN

LITTLE STINGA

Recommended Posts

He can't get a kick and was hammered by Mitchell. Bartram has surely passed him as our No 1 tagger. He never should have been captain and it is surely time for him to retire. He has been a great player for the club but sadly he is now a burden to the side.

THIS WEEK'S TEAM SHOULD BE

B:WHELAN, WARNOCK, FRAWLEY

HB: DAVEY, RIVERS, GRIMES

C: BRUCE, VALENTI, GREEN

HF: BATE, WATTS, MORTON

F: MARTIN, ROBERTSON, MARIC

FOLL: JAMAR, MOLONEY, SYLVIA

IC: JONES, CHENEY, BARTRAM, JOHNSON

EMERG: BELL, BENNELL, MILLER

Stupid!!!

but i'll bite...

Watts is miles off AFL footy. He was pretty average for casey today and still looks like a school boy.

Valenti was just ok for casey as well. And couldn't cut it against the bulldogs, will be just making up the numbers.

Robbo should go before miller. Dont care how they are going miller plays for the team and puts them first. zrobbo is out there for himself

Are you for real?????

He was great today; putting his body on the line, tackling hard, smacking into bigger bodies all day - his leadership is fantastic. He isnt the best player in the side, but he is the best leader!!

Think you need to watch the game again, my friend .........

Nonsense. Was alright today. Actually, I'd say that Junior's game today was pretty much the same as the other two-hundred-and-something he'd played before. Just quietly went about the job. I haven't seen any stats, but I'd wager he'd be right up there with the tackle count again this year.

Getting 'smashed' by Mitchell is hardly something to whinge about too much -- the guy is the best inside midfielder in the league.

When Junior went straight over to whoever gave Sylvia a knock just before the final siren and gave him a bump and piece of his mind, that warmed my heart (for lack of a better phrase!), but it just really signified that he is a great leader and nobody messes with his boys.

I can kinda see your point of view in that he seems to have dropped off a bit but he was better today, tackling like a mad dog.

HAHAHA i thought this game was actually one of Mc Donalds better games for the year, his attack on the ball was inspiring for the rest of his team. He backed himself today aswell and was rewarded with a very nice goal.

BROCKSTARS, I think there is 0% chance Mac will get dropped. And 100% that no one here will be agreeing with this outrageous statement.

I saw JW play last week at Casey and I think he is still another 6 or 7 games aways from debuting for Melbourne.

While I'll agree that he should probably retire at seasons end I can't see him getting dropped and I don't think we'll be seeing Watts until round 14 at the absolute earliest. And I don't agree on Valenti. He's a decent VFL player and may very well get promoted at seasons end, but a lot of others are ahead of him in our midfield pecking order IMO.

Jesus. What is it with Melbourne supporters? We're worse than Sydney supporters sometimes. Learn how to watch a game of footy. JMac was good today, coming off a recent injury too.

Which game were you at? In a side where we have bagged the endeavour of some of our players over the last couple of years I have never once bagged JMac. He tackles like a dog after a bone and I hardly think of him as having the turnovers that Jones/McLean have been serving up for the last season.

Take a breather and remember in a young team we need some leadership, which he certainly offers.

i was of the same opinion but you cannot fathom what he brings to this young team....

i reckon junior embodies this footy club - he does not have the most talent but he brings his best effort to every game..... i also like the way that he treats the uniform - socks up!!

yesterday, his chasing and tackling were excpetional... he went to other men that were not his and did everythign you would expect from a elader. at half time he gave the team a bake, and they responded....

i wish that some others would show the passion that junior does and we would be a better club for it!!

Unbelievable thread. I'm going to assume Brockstars didn't actually see the game, because McDonald was one of our best players. Aggressive, hard at the ball, lead from the front in those respects. There are plenty of other players who should go before Junior.

juniors attack on it was fantastic, he hit the players hard, hit the ball hard and was in the play all day.

his best game for the year imo.

Spiritual leader on the ground last night. I agree. He hit hard. Probably was his best game too.

Opening post is nonsense.

sorry brockstars but i think you got this one wrong. it was by far his best game of the season with his physicallity and leadership, but at the same time i don't think he has many left in him

I'm sorry I got it wrong Junior had a blinder 13 disposals 1 clearence 3 tackles 2 frees against(at least one cost us a goal to Franklin, only PJ gave away more) while Mitchell got 31 disposals and 4 clearences that is an awesome game whichever way you look at it. Robbo and Miller were also brilliant.

Another of those extremely educated football followers who judge a players game by their stats. Spud of the highest order.

You forgot his goal. how convenient. It was also his work at the bottom of the packs that obviously had gone unnoticed. Were you at the back of the pie queues?

What would you judge it on ? What did he actually do for you to think that he had a great game considering his job was to limit Mitchell which he failed at. His opponent was close to BOG. He's not getting the ball he hasn't got the ball all year. If he wasn't captain there would be more than just me wanting him out of the side. Our midfield got slaughtered if it wasn't for Sylvia being a one man band we would have got smashed by over 10 goals.

Me thinks you might be trying to take away some heat from your man Brock, who struggled for pace, despite his possessions count.

Not really I think he should be rested he doesn't look right and has had a very ordinary year they should give Valenti a go to see what he's made of.

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
