Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Its amazing what 18 months can do for someone in footy. 18 months ago there would have been one name and one name only on that poll....Brock Mclean. i would be very curious to know why people have gone off him? For me its his lack of leaving his mark on a game, he is not a game turner or winner, early on he was but i think he has just lost a bit of his pace and his skills are not where they need to be

An absolute must do as captain, IS acts of COURAGE, getting in for the hard ball get, winning contested footy, as well as what Davey's now doing so well.

oops, I voted for the wrong Brad.

I meant to vote for Miller, I think he's becoming a real leader now & while I'm pleased with Greens improvement at getting in & under for the hardball I still think Miller is a harder worker & more respected through the AFL community.

I also voted for the wrong Brad!

How can we go past Moloney why when he was asked if he would take a trade that saw him leave Geelong and end up at Melbourne he jumped at it .

he grew up supporting Melbourne . And at the family days is great with children. he keeps his head out of the spot light unlike so many players for the wrong reasons.

the only other player that should be the vic captain is Green . Melbourne like the other teams that have won the Cup all have had Hard nuts to lead .

The thing about Miller is his kicking. I certainly can't fault him this week, as he kicked beautifully, but he's too on and off and too many of those pack marks go through his hands. Don't get me wrong, I like Millsy and I think he's a great trier and is always a tough-nut, but like Macca, his skills let him down too often. That was generally the beauty of Neita. When we needed a captains goal he would deliver, I don't think I could say the same for Millsy. That said, bring Watts in and stick up at Full Forward and push Millsy out and I could easily see him play the role he played across half forward in the latter Daniher years. But as a captain, I don't think so. As a leader, I'm all for him, but as the main man, I'm not so sure.

I have to question that.

MANY occasions did the great man leave me heart broken from poor kicking.

This is true. Hence the word, generally.:D One must admit Neita did have the ability to kick the captains goal though, whereas I don't remember Millsy really stepping up and kicking one, when we were in desperate need.

You mean kicking the "captains goal" when he has never been captain......

I would have thought that would have been tough for anyone to do ;) !!!

I strongly feel Brad Green should lead our club. He is one of two established class players (the other being Davey). He is skillful, clean, tuff, always goes hard and has delived through both good times and bad.

Brad Green for Captain!

I feel Davey should be his deputy.

And Brent Moloney as well

When I first saw this topic I thought, Moloney! He has this Neita feel about him. Red and Blue, through and through. I'd be wrapped to see him lead us to our next premiership. I'd like to see Davey as Vice Capt. Other prospects for future, future prospecs Watts, Morton and Grimes we hear has exceptional leadership skills. Our future is bright!

As long as he can keep fit/uninjured why shouldn't he? He loves the club and has red and blue blood pumping into his great Demon heart. What better reward than to make such a believer captain and then have him hold up the Cup a couple of years later. He can live my dream for me and I will love every minute of it. I can see him as our own Nathan Buckley but successful.

The only reason I would say no to Davey (but would happily have him as VC) is that he might be better suited as as an indigenous role model/skipper within the club, and he is probably better left to just concentrating on the ball during the game.

The poll missed one:

The PAV!

who we will sign at season end with a dodgey preseason draft deal that screws freo keeping picks 1+2 for us in the real season!

Hang on were not carlton, we will probably trade for him!

If we got Pav AND picks one and two, we'd be set up for quite a side.

Davey for mine to take over at the end of 2010 when McDonald retires. Brock McLean will get the VC role however the captain role after Davey eventually retires will fall the way of Grimes in my opinion.

There is a young lad by the name of watts that may have his hand up in 3-5yrs. My money would be on him ahead of all else from the current group of young players. Ozzzzzes class and leadership and hasn't even played a snr game. watch this space........

If jnr plays on for 2 more years he could well become the youngest captain at our club. Carey was captain at nth when he was 18 I think

From what I've seen of Watts and how he handles himself I have no doubt that he could take it all in his stride. I think Watts and Grimes will be the future captains and Vice captain at some point, just a question on who gets which role and when?

I voted for Beamer, although that would be completely dependant on him staying injury free and playing 22 games this year.

Like many others, I'm also a huge fan of Green as a potential captain.

Not so sure about Davey. Concentrating on getting the footy and being as consistent as possible is all i want from him at this stage.

Mclean or Moloney for me.

I think Mcdonald will retire at seasons end. If he doesnt, then he should be politely asked to leave. I love Junior and he's been a fantastic player for us, but he is really struggling this year and has become abit of a liability IMO.

I'd like a captain who is mid 20s, not an old timer who wont have long in the job. I think Beamer is perfect for the role. He is passionate for the club, always tries his heart out, and really tries to help the youngsters out. If he is properly over his nagging injuries, Id pick him. Brock is the other choice, but needs to find form at the moment before worrying about his leadership (which he is a natural with anyway).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
