Rivers Lower Leg Injury

Walking around in the rooms - according to SEN

said the same on Fox which is good news, hopefully he can come back in the 2nd half... Chip is injured too, if both miss next week we're all of a sudden struggling down back, with Garland, Rivers, Frawley out...

lets hope they both come up okay...

Maybe a bad sprain? They were pulling down on the ankle as you do with a sprain or break on the stretcher? If it's a nasty sprain, I'd take that.... Just have to trade him out this week. :)

I'll cross my fingers and hope that Rivers doesn't - they'd probably sprain.

Poor bugger. At least all the reports so far have been that it's not as bad as it looked and might only be a relatively minor injury.

Lets hope so, otherwise if we were to be missing Rivers, Frawley and Garland all next week they'd need to look at including someone like Bell as the 3rd tall. Lets hope bad sprain and a possability to return next week.

Ah yes I did forget, McNanara's about 189-190cm isn't he? Is he physically able to play tall, or not quiet there yet?

He's more a medium sized defender, and I'd say he'd replace Frawley in taking the best mid-sized forward.

Will be interesting to see if he gets a game, and if he does, how he'll play. Probably a perfect week for him to play, given the Dogs have a wide range of medium forwards.

He seems the obvious replacement, coming off the back of a few good games for Casey so it wouldn't be like we are throwing him in at the deep end.

Poor old Riv! Geez this guy just can't take a break! He's just so damn courageous...

Fingers-crossed he's alright and doesn't miss a lot of football. Maybe a week off next week if its not too serious, IMO he was starting to look a bit tired. If its not a bad injury a week off wouldn't hurt. I just hope its not 4 or more weeks out!!!

A very good opportunity for McNamara to come in and show us what he's got. He was probably on the cusp of selection anyway, so it'll be a good test for him.

And one step closer to the Buthcer / Scully double! ;)

That was my first thought too. With a few defenders out, this is a good time for McNamara to come in.

Soon as he went down, I thought of Jaded's tracker.

Oh me too......not sure what that says about us ;) !!!

And add me to the ever growing list of folk who think that this might be McNamara's time to debut.

Most likely ankle...hope it's not a break.

Does anyone know if it's the same ankle he did in the intra-club match during the preseason?

EDIT: DemonDave just confirmed yes it was the same ankle, the left one, in another thread. Cheers

I couldn't see what the injury was until I studied the replay over & over again then I noticed an inoccuous clash of legs, oncoming players shin hit rivers inside right ankle just above the joint. This is what I believe the concern & conjecture of a possible broken leg was all about. He might be lucky.

Does anybody know how long RIVERS will be out, not too sure whether to trade him from my SuperCoach team?

Not sure how accurate it is but the AFL injury list has Rivers as only 1 week. Frawley listed as 2 weeks. Promising if true.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
