As much as we butchered the ball today, the ultra defensive Adelaide, with numbers stacked behind the ball nearly all game, played some of the ugliest and most uninspiring football I think I have ever seen.

I've watched plenty of football over the years, but never have I sat there and thought "why am I watching this sport?"

It was simply an attrocious brand of football, and the worst game I have ever been to.

They played one of the bottom teams, and at no stage did they look interested in taking the game on, and using their skills to win the game.

Adelaide............you are a joke, and are clearly going nowhere this season!

Their supporters could get no joy, or feel any pride in the way they went about it today.

Pathetic!

Adelaide were shocking, and did little to get over the line, apart from playing keepings off and relying on Melbourne's mistakes.

They, like us, didn't have much of a forward structure for the game hence the 34-51 score. All they had were two players in their first and second years in Walker and Tippett. McLeod's influence was minimal as was Tyson Edward's.

As for Adelaide's supporters, well what can I say?

At the end of the game (if anyone bothered staying apart from me) they ran around like they had won the premiership, with all there filthy supporters lining the fences while the players did a lap of honour around the ground. This is ridiculos.

They were lucky to win the game by only kicking seven goals, and they go around like it's there greatest win ever. Adelaide aren't travelling too well at the moment, and are lucky to be 3-2.

It was too cold for me to stay around after the final siren... sad to hear that they thought their performance against the reigning wooden spooners was worth a lap of honour. Wish i'd stayed around to make Bock's a lap of dishonour now!

Haha I loved the treatment that Bock got from the crowd. I joined in.

Did I hear Neil Craig was disappointed with our supporters booing Nathan Bock?

Well Neil, take a look at the crap your team dished up, then have a think about why we booed him and other players!

Most of the time the boos were for the chronic time wasting in your back half of which Bock was a part of!

The Adelaide supporter sitting next to me cursed his side when the final siren went. Obviously a win's a win, but his reasoning was that that sort of football wasn't going to get his team anywhere against the good sides. And he had a point.

He commented that he liked that our team were actually trying to win the game in the last quarter, and thought Adelaide were very very lucky we couldnt convert our opportunities!

God, its been a long time since i've witnessed an MFC win and cursed at the siren, instead of jumping up and down like a lunatic (after the tigers game.. lol)!

I also agree with the pathetic-ness of the Adelaide supporters, the ones near us, were complete idiots...

How mighty do they feel beating last years wooden spooners by such a small margin, and with crap game playing..

I rated Adelaide until yesterday. They were good against St Kilda and Geelong for most of the matches. But they were awful yesterday. Crap game plan, poorly executed. With horrible opposition they only managed 7 goals, two of which came in 1 minute. But at least they won.

Adelaide will not be making an impact come September and Richmond are rubbish, they made us look good last week. Adelaide's strength is in their defence with Rutten, Bock, Johncock, McLeod and Goodwin all there. Their midfield is so-so and their forward line is about as good as ours. They maybe should think about releasing Goodwin or McLeod forward to kick some more goals.

A decent side would have beaten us by 20 goals yesterday, but to be honest Adelaide never looked like losing either (no matter what the scoreboard said).

Last night it was almost impossible to kick a goal at either end outside of 40m due to the wind. I think we kicked 1 and they kicked 5 or 6 from memmory. Very lucky to win that game crows. Very luckey indeed, we out scored them, out bodied them.

I'm glade that everybody else gave that "CRIMINAL" Bock what he deserved. What a big man, can belt his wife but never once looked like taking on miller. COWARD comes to mind!

I found it hypocritical when we have Sylvia running around..

If a decent side had not slacked off towards the finish they would have been tripled our score. Adelaide were never seriously challenged all day. Its an indictment on our performance that they had no need to attack for 100 minutes while we massacred the ball and effectively negated ourselves.

They have the four expected points and no injuries/reports. Job done.

And I thought there could be nothing lower than the match attendance and the standard of the game yesterday. Well done for proving me wrong on that.

Agreed. They never got out of second gear because they didn't need to. It was still fairly painful for their supporters despite getting the four points.

Coached by a man totally lacking in personal appeal or charisma, and the team plays likewise.

It's not much satisfaction for what was an atrocious effort by our blokes - the falling off in skill is amazing to see from one week to the next - but their brand of football will take them nowhere.

While some say they did not need to get out of second gear, I saw real alarm if not panic from them in the second half.

For lack of now knowing where else to put this, I'll throw it in here.

Did anyone else see how much time the runner spent out on the ground, in particular the last qtr when he was telling them to wind things up at about the 15 mark. He was meters from the play for a good 2 or 3 minutes, then later in the game doing the same thing.

Surely this is something the AFL must address. While it won't do anything now, it is just frustrating to see the runner so involved in the play for such a long period pf time, his job is to get out there, send a message, and get off, his message lasted far too long and it seemed he was chasing kicks.

Here here! They are shocking aren't they? Because they are well drilled they could potentially finish as high as 6th but would not make an impact in the finals. I can't see Adeliade challenging for a flag again until about 2015 onwards. New coach by then would obviously be required.

We played about as poorly as we could have last night, and if we kicked more accurately, we could have possibly won. When we did get some momentum in the last, Adelaide were shocking. Looking at their list with the likes of Goodwin, Edwards, McLeod and Burton all over 30, they are going to fall quite hard, sooner rather than later.

I'd be a little worried if i was an Adelaide fan, as if they make finals over the next couple of years, they are only going to be making up the numbers.

The Adelaide supporter's were only in two parts of the ground- near their cheer squad and there was some in about M13. What shocked me was that a family of 6 or 7 Adelaide supporters came and sat down in the President's area where I was sitting.

Really. Thats a disgrace someone should of came and kicked them out. We want only Melbourne supporters in the Melbourne areas.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
