In the paper Bailey sort of allured to the fact they could have already had him playing for the dees. I think the only thing holding this kid back is school. 10 goals this arvo for sure.

Posted

I expect Watts to kick at least 10 goals per 15 minutes he is on the ground. Anything less and it will be clear that we wasted our draft pick on a hack ala. Michael Newton.

Calabrese, the fact it's round 4 into his first season and we're STILL talking about him possibly kicking 10 goals clearly underscores that we wasted Pick One, not to mention the fact he's not even captain at the moment, better pull his socks up

How can he be a failure in the VFL magoos if he doesn't kick 10 ?

You guys are familiar with the concept of the ball having to be delivered to him, right?

And the delivery skills in the Casey 2s aren't going to set the world on fire.

I expect Watts to be a proficient forward in 3 years time. If he's not, then I might consider calling the pick a mistake. Until then, anything is icing.

Today I expect a couple of touches, maybe a goal or 2.

Cool your jets guys, for Watts' sake!

If it takes him 3 years to be proficient, we've wasted a pick. I'd expect him to be proficient in 12 months, and hope he's a star in 3 years time.

Don't know about Strauss, but where is Sam Blease?

Sam blease is still behind compared to watts in his development program, i think he had a minor injury so hes probably still bit underdone to play yet.

Well, I've made it down to Casey Fields (well ahead of time I might add) and I'm wondering what on earth am I doing here in this godforsaken part of the world?

There must be something happening here today because a few other vehicles are arriving and all of them have those little red and blue stickers on them.

Oh well ...

Glad you arrived, WJ.

Please provide us with an update every time Watts kicks one of his 17 goals.

Thanks ahead of time for any updates or news. Ur a legend. (Cheers also to KC and everyone for their reports and up-to-the-minute info so far this season.)

Casey off to a strong start. There are four Demons in the Scorps team today - Rhys Healey, Danny Hughes, Jack Watts and Matthew Whelan. There's also a player called Luke Williams but he's not the Luke Williams who played for Melbourne and Sandy a few years ago!

Hughes and Whelan are the early standouts for Casey. It's been a quiet start for Jack Watts - just one kick from a free. He also tapped the ball to a teammate for what you would call a goal assist in basketball.

Casey 4.4.28 to 1.1.7 halfway through the first term.

Obviously needs some time up back to learn the trade.

He has disappointed the expectations of alot of supporters already. :P

At quarter time it was Casey Scorpions 4.4.28 to Port Melbourne 3.2.20.

Straight after the break, Watts snagged his first goal in VFL reserves history but only after getting a 50 m penalty because his opponent stepped over the mark. Lucky too because Jack's kick was astray.

Casey Scorpions 6.8.44 to Port Melbourne 9.8.62 at half time.

Port dominated most of the quarter. Jack Watts had limited opportunities but has looked composed playing mainly at CHF. Matty Whelan was off from the start of the quarter. His leg was being iced and his right thigh is now bandaged (corky?). Hughes is the pick of the Dees in the first half but Rhys Healey has also done some nice things. With Trent Zomer not playing in this game, I would suggest that he's playing in the ones later in the evening.

I noticed most of the Demons in tonight's main game had arrived by half time in the reserves game. Jake Spencer is a big lad. Addam Maric is here but there's no sign of Kyle Cheney which suggests that he's the emergency held back just in case there needs to be a change tomorrow.

The other big arrivals are the Channel 10 cameras and Ryan Fitzgerald which suggests it's likely that there will be a cross to Before the Game when that programme goes to air tonight.

I hate to say it, but surely Whelan's career is on a knifes edge. If he has gone down with yet another injury then his days at the club must be numbered. He just cannot get on the park anymore.

Good to hear Watts is getting through the game with no worries - I don't expect him to see much of it as the delivery would be shite at the level he is playing.

Trade him.

Hopefully the gym

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
