Pathetic last quarter - and that was the only quarter of football that was anything like what Melbourne will experience this year.

In the first three quarters, I would have looked good out there. The opposition wasn't trying.

What we can take out of the game is that Newton's time is up. He will not be at the club next year.

Sylvia was exceptionally disappointing.

Miller still does not have good enough football brains.

+1

Newton is a disgrace to the jumper. I can't believe they resigned this hack last year. He just doesn't want to be out there. Sylvia is a pretty boy and always will be. Saw him laughing afterwards. Bah!

As for Miller, he needs to play as far up the ground as possible. I don't want him close to goals and wasting set shots. Put Bate, Green, Wonna and Davey in there and alternate Johnson and Jamar.

Big time. Worst player at the club, with Bell a close 2nd.

Bell looked very sluggish out there today. But I thought his efforts were good today.

Why do I put myself through this? Why do I care about the MFC???

I wonder this myself... we are a laughing stock. How could you let a team double their entire score in the last quarter. FFS we scored one solitairy point in the last quarter.

This game meant so much to us sponsor wise, prize money wise, member wise.. We had it in the bag and just handed it back without a whimper.

Typical Melbourne....

Big time. Worst player at the club, with Bell a close 2nd.

At least Bell goes hard, puts his body on the line, tackles, runs, chases.

Newton tries to take one-handed marks, fly for impossible speccies and when he finally gets the ball he does the lazy thing and kicks it around his body. I have never seen a footballer care less. He truly looks like he just doesn't give a [censored], and the worse thing is, he kept Zomer out of the team today.

Someone please hide him away until his contract is up, because if I have to see this guy pretending to be a Melbourne footballer again I might just be forced to poke both my eyes out with a stick.

Thank god for players like Petterd who have so much heart they almost make up for his lack of one!

I would otherwise say, "eh! It's just an NAB Cup match", but you're right - this game meant so much!

It was the absolute worst thing that could have happened.

1. We have the Youth Summit tomorrow. I sincerely hope this performance doesn't turn people away, it well could.

2. Memberships will certainly suffer. We'll get some really bad press from this, and we deserve it.

3. We need a sponsor. Potential sponsors won't have been particularly impressed with that last quarter performance. It also means we won't have a game featured on television until round 1, and even then, its probably Foxtel anyway.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
