Farren ray is an interesting case. one of those nice ball users, who is not at all hard at it.

Sadly, we have too many players like it. we need proven ball winners to add some toughness to our weak lineup.

Ray just fits into the category of another demon standing outside a pack waiting to handball it off to a running player.

He would be great at a club who have those type ball winners.

I have said No all along but if we got him for 30+ draft pick I would be a little dissapointed but later than that or pre season then I would be ok with it, just do not think he is th esort of player we should be chasing hard.

gee ok

lets look at this....

Robbo old and past his best.. the Dogs need him and want him!

ray is 23... went pick 3...... is quick... and versatile and probably has ten years left in him......

i would be very happy with a straight swap....

what you need to realise High Tower is that i think anyone over the age of 27 is disposable.... we need to clear out and go young.. yes it will be lean for a couple of years but in a couple of years robbo wont be there!!!

i would do it for sure!!!

There won't be many better players for us to get in the PSD, if we can get him in the PSD. He's 22, former no.4 pick, skillful, and quick.

Hasn't shown much, but if he makes it to the PSD, there will not be too many as promising.

Ray went pick 4. Sylvia was 3.

Do Dogs want Robbo? I believe they 'wanted' him last year, that view may have changed now. They might be looking at O'Keefe from Sydney.

If Warnock falls through to the PSD, I'd take him ahead of Ray.

sorry pick 4

and yes they would take robbo coz they have no forwards!!!

i want the deal

i also saw B Hall at a pub in richmond yesterday with i believe his manager.....

i think if the dogs got him and if they could get robbo they would see that as a power forwardline

robbo is still serviceable but not we need anymore......

Get a grip guys. Ray is contracted to dogs for 2009. So PSD is not a possibility. Either he is traded, or he stays at the dogs. ;)

lets look at this....

Robbo old and past his best.. the Dogs need him and want him! Says who ? Can you quote any WB officials saying they are interested in acquiring Robbo in 2009

ray is 23 - so should be showing a lot more than he is ... went pick 3 - pick 4 which only means that five years a go recruiters thought he was going to be an excellent player - they don't always get it right...... is quick - so is my dog but he can't kick either ... and versatile bullshit - can play wing & maybe half back, nothing else and probably has ten years left in him not in the AFL......

The other thing you overlook is that his disposal has deteriorated alarmingly. In his first season he looked a good kick but that proved a false dawn. Now he'd struggle to hit a cow's arse with a banjo

i would be very happy with a straight swap....

What you need to realise is that Robertson is contracted, currently injured & has pretty close to zero trade value. He's going nowhere. I don't mind reading conjecture, but I'd love to see posters do a bit of research before they put up trade proposals, particularly when used used start a new thread.

i would do it for sure!!!

Goose... good luck to the dogs in getting both Hall and Robertson...it won't happen. Robbo is contracted. As Go the Biff says, do a bit of research.

Never seen him get a hard ball.

He won't need to if he comes to us, we have mclean, jones, moloney in there getting it for him. I think he would make a nice fit in our team, has nice disposal which we need badly

He could go to Freo for a player swap. Maybe Campbell will go to the Dogs as they are desperate for a key forward and Hall is not going there.

Great a flaky outside midfielder to compliment a third world midfield!

Big pass on Ray thanks. Could never work out why the Dogs went for him in the first place.

has nice disposal

I'm not sure if you've confused him with someone else or you're spellbound by how high he went in the draft.

The Bullies should've stop calling him Sharon Ray. Fans are cruel.

Reckon he'd fir into our midfield nicely, would get the game time at Melbourne he wasn't getting at the Bulldogs. Hopefully we could get him in PSD.

Definitely worth a look but not at a big cost. We do happen 2 be light on 4 players with pace.

I have posted him as dog [censored]! A bit too harsh I think.

Maybe a new club is what he need's too go up a couple of gears. Before he was drafted I thought i would'nt mind this guy! We took Sylvia b4 Ray and still got Brock! Sylvia has been none more impressive than Ray. But if Ray is still available in the PSD and is the best available. He could be worth the punt! I do believe an unknown youngster could still be used with PSD selection.

We should not draft or trade for ANY player who has not shown at least a semblance of hardness.

So, no to Ray.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
