He said consultants The Slade Group were already seeking candidates for the chief executive role and that radio star Hamish Blake would spearhead the club's membership campaign next year

From http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...3-19769,00.html

I first noticed the connection between Hamish and Melbourne on the footy show a few weeks back. I'm glad we got him on board. Someone with his popularity could really help attract people from younger demographics.

I'm glad Stynes has managed to get Blake on board.

Hamish clearly isn't a mammoth football fan, but could really help the club's image (I hope...)

It's a good idea to attract the borderline and younger members.

I'd like to see some targetted marketing for older and MCC supporters as well. Something like the 150 heroes dinner ad which was fantastic would be worth trying to open the pockets of those that feel they need some inspiration from the likes of Barass.

we couldnt get his mate's girlfriend to don a Melbourne Jumper ( just the jumper !! and briefs..of course..lol )

This is a clear campaign aimed at the younger generation, something we REALLY lack in! I think most people know he's not a big foot fan, but he will bring something different to the table so it's a good move IMO.

Our performance this year has been fairly humourous and that hasn't sold memberships

We have set a new record this year so I'm not sure what your point is

Smart Idea to get celebs on board. I know Shane Bourne is a Demon. Could be worth contacting. Paul Hester was a Demon but he passed on the same week as Broady. R.I.P.

Now that would increase Memberships.............

We have set a new record this year so I'm not sure what your point is

if we didnt have the $40 memberships, we would probably be looking at around 25,000 members which is not good enough

what we dont see in all of the tallies, is "revenue generated" from membership sales

i think we would be even further behind the pack here

considering carlton have 25,000 adult members and we have 21,000, i'm not sure we fare so badly when you consider the mcc members we have.

yeah but u missed my point

a lot of our new influx of adult members would be MFC/MCC members which only paid $40

at the end of the day, it is not really about the amount of members as such, but the amount of money the club can receive from memberships

i know what you mean in terms of dollars, but we do also get a monetary subsidy from the mcc which is around 500k i believe. that would go some way to balancing the cheap mcc/mfc membership.

yeah maybe/hopefully you're right on that

Is it true that the guy in the springvale jumper in the footy moments adds in a Dees supporter?

Don't know.

It's actually an old Shepparton jumper and I believe Dave Lawson is indeed a Melbourne supporter.

shane bourne? come on - you cannot be serious!! funny he aint and would add nothing!!

hamish is without doubt the funnyman of the duo and some of the pranks they have done, well....

good on the club for something left of centre....

Well things would be looking alot better for us if all of the MCC members actually paid up and bought a full adult/ concession membership anyway.

(thought I would stir the pot a little bit- we havent had this argument in a while)

I've done my bit. And I agree. Keep stirring. :)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
