I seem to remember Col junior coach saying something like "We just tell him to get the ball" why not just let him do that in the middle? He clearly has the build for it and Nate Jones needs help! Has Col spent much time in the middle as an inside mid? He always seems to be named on the HFF

I would like to see Fitz in the side. He has great agility for a big man and we need a tall forward to work with Dawes. I have only seen a limited amount of Fitz but I have wondered if he could play the same role that dustin fletcher has played for the bummers? How good is his awareness of the ball in flight, his man etc? I would not like to see him delisted. Is he a better version of Stefan Martin?

It is very hard to watch ATM. It just seems that the coach has bitten off more than he can chew and instead of letting players use their skills he has them worried about their positioning on the field. Either way it is very hit and miss as we have all witnessed. Most of other that remember position footy such as myself see "unaccountable football" whilst other who can see more broadly see "poor spread". I think that he have a nucleus of a team. I think comments around the poor disposal by the backline out of defence illustrate just how handy JW would have been last week? Midfield is weak. How to fix this? 1. Recruit A grade mid/s- who would come to MFC right now 2. Put our biggest bodies in their regardless of the result? By this I mean bring up magner and couch and just hammer the opposition. 3. Rotate our ball users in once the heat is off. To use a cricket term, put them in second change. Lets see if we can get them to run out games and lets see if the opposition is still keen to go in hard! I am as dismayed as anyone at the lack of heart and effort but I believe that we need to start this fightback from the middle. Our forward line is injured and our backline is under seige. I am curious why the powers that be dont put JW in the middle? Has basketball backround, good vision and sure hands, surely he can find an outside runner by hand as he would in basketball? At this point I want to see players use their skills and forget about complex patterns. That stuff can develop but right now we are almost unwatchable as others have stated. I used to hate the sydney style of smothering the opposition but right now I would welcome it as we are slowly bleeding to death! I am not one of the sack neeld brigade but I feel that some changes need to be made to "the plan" whatever that is.

I would have loved to see Jurrah delivering off half back or on the wing. He has amazing skills but we could not get the ball to him last year and it would have been good to see him used somewhere else. Davey has not coped well with a tag and he would definitely benefit from going forward. From memory he started what is now called forward pressure?

Davey is targeted as our quarterback. This has been happening over the past 2 1/2 seasons. He does not handle a hard tag well at all. If someone is going to do this we might as well use him in the middle where he has others around to help him. We really miss scully and McKenzie.

AJ I agree that if we have a player who can contest the ball (Could be watts are THAT mark on sunday) the crumbers like wonna and maric can also be brought into the game. Jurranh also has good ground skills for his size. We also need players who will cause the turnovers in our f50.

Hawthorn scored a goal and davey started waving "slow down" with 10 mins to go in the second. WTF! After this our run completely stopped! I had not rated Bail as a player but what he did when the ball was in dispute was fantastic. He showed the others what was required. The mids lets us down badly the 3rd quarter. Do we need to play Green in the centre? Davey outside? I could nt see a lot from the cheersquad but from what people have been saying here, when lacked poise in the middle (we fumbled). Perhaps we need to alter our structures as they know what to expect from us. We could certainly play in the second. I said to the guy behind me that it reminded me of 1987, tough but this time we had skill. I wished I had shut up after half time.

I had a look at the new jumpers at the demon shop. The red looks washed out and the premiership stars looked orange. I hope these were the reject jumpers! The colours seem poles away from the blood red and blue that is almost black that schwabb is wanting. I suggested to the girl there, that there should be a navy blue v neck longsleeve knitted jumper with the new emblem embroidered on it for those of us that feel they are too old to wear a guernsey. She said some people had asked about this.

? Decoy forward/Ruck inside 50. Saves Jamar from leaving the ground. May end up being able to present as a option coming out of D50. You are right though. I do not remember him as a Hawthorn player. It will be interesting to see who will play where. I like the idea of Jamar playing forward but his replacement will need to be competitive.

I have the same thoughts in mind but I would be looking at it as a more tagging in/out tactic. Jamar loses his opponent and drifts forward marks and goals. RC goes in to pick up Jamar's opponent contest the tap after the goal. Jamar is then in a position to present for the next contest. I dont believe that it will be more than 5-10 mins total per quarter. Also RC will free up Jamar to be a kick behind as he can contest the boundary inside f50.

We should all endeavour to wear them to a designated night game. It would clearly illustrate our crowd numbers ans illustrate our passion.
