Will the club have to pay him out? I would imagine he would be on a pretty large salary?

This may be a stupid question so you may have to excuse my ignorance.

There once was a man called Paul

Who had skill with a tennis ball

Tried his skill at Aussie Rules

But joined an unruly group of fools

He really shouldn't have gone there at all.

The way I see it, I think Paul has left under mutual termination of his contract. Understanding of our financial position.

I dont know how to feel about the decision.

The club appears to still be hemorrhaging and stalling. I kinda hope this would have all stopped by now and we can concentrate on moving forward.

I was thinking the same thing. SEN said that Synes to make an official announcment this afternoon.

Don't know if he was right for the job as he was not there long. However, i like the way JS is going about his business, getting the people around him that he wants, not just puts up with who is there.

Totally agree. They also appear capable of keeping the media out until the last minute which is great. Sheahan may have broken yesterday but he had zero details.

I'd be surprised if Jimmy didn't have a replacement organised before he ousted McNamee. We should all have an answer very soon. S- -t-a=BI l i-- t y appears difficult but i feel it's coming and coming in a big way. Get the right people in for the long haul.

It was reported on SEN earlier today that we'd have to pay out 1/4 of his annual wages, totalling 125,000. add to this the cost of the headhunting firm earlier this year to get McNamee, and it's been a very costly exercise.

The AFL must really be losing patience with us, and this time, I dont blame them, what a disaster.

Interesting...we've gone from a club where things were done fairly much up front. Where the Chairman was somewhat transparent with intentions and everything seemed above board....to this.. Coups.. dismissals via fait accomplit agendas...plans that arent plans..just a "concept" to reduce debt..( rocket science that bit  ) and then increases it by having to pay out another contract.

So are we again sailing with no direction. Has there always been a new CEO in waiting.. is this just compounding sculduggery ? Geez youd want to think twice before working for Melbourne at this rate!!

Well Im seeing a lot of hoopla...and very little else. It wants to get better than this Mr Stynes !!

edit : addendum.. How lovely all this fiasco is caused by a group nobody has actually voted in !!

I'll back the board but geez this has been going on for 44 years. Can we just get our freaking act together!

Jeez you waffle on. What do you want from the club. Do you think you should be voting on the new CEO. Stynes has taken over and has invigorated the club more in his short time that any president since the 50's if not ever. He does not think McNamee is upto the job and he's not the only one here to think that. So he's getting rid of him, Good decision from where I sit. I think you'll find that not only is a replacement already organised but that having McNamee in place may well have been keeping others out, both sponsors and key people. Let's see what happens next but I'll bet you it's well and truly in the interests of the club and it's supporters.

Are the AFL losing patience or are they driving this.

Hmm.. my little friend the Rat..I think is associated with this line of thinking. I seem to recall that MacNamee wasnt the first choice of certain hierachial personnel down at AwFuL..

There's still more to all this

mate...I am fairly entitled to voice my disgust at the way things have been going. The style of managment at MFC in recent times makes any voting participation in this club moot. You may not consider that an impoprtant element of membership but I do. I dont expect to be involved in everyday events.. but the ursuping of a Chairman..and the wholesale sacking of the clubs CEO..arent everyday. You seriously think someone who can run the Aussie Open has no clue ??

This is all about personalities and 'behind closed door" politiicking . I though this club had grown up from this.

Are we sailing with no direction or is the board tacking into the wind making the tough calls with a clear direction. I trust the board, but I hope all decisions are made for commercial not personal reasons. If I had some extra coin this month would love to be in the Chairmans lunch this Sunday.

Name one initiative, ONE, that McNamee has announced since his arrival other than "I think we should go back to our elite roots'.

I'm not saying he had no clues but it is fact that his biggest strenght is self promotion. What I am saying is that whilst you go on about governance Jimmy is making the hard decisions necessary to sort out this club.

Youre kidding arent you.. This is supposed to be a long haul psoition where you dont make decisions in a fluster. How do you know he hadnt ideas in the planning..but were being costed , verified etc. Your comment is ludicrous

It was always rumoured that Macca was not the favourite of most of the board and that it was Gardner that instated him as our CEO. If this is the case then Gardners legacy is two absolute dismal apointments of CEOs, and it looks like Stynes is trying to clean up the mess.

In saying that, i hadn't had any issue with what he's done so far, and apart from his MIA over the mid-season break, i thought he was doing a pretty good job. But then again i'm not inside the club so i can't even begin to understand the reasons for his sacking.

Now i've heard that he will be paid out about 100-200K with his contract termination, can anyone confirm?

how do i get a job at MFC? i wouldn't mind pretending to work for 3 months then getting a sizable payout.

I believe he's entitled to 115,000 as severance.. unconfirmed

The way the club has been travelling we don't have the option of the 'long haul'. Of course I don't know what his plans where, but the simple fact of the matter is that we haven't heard of any them and if there were any 'grand plans' Jimmy obviously didn't rate any of them.

Couple of interesteing though, to be fair, unsubstatiated rumours offered up on SEN :

1. McNamee failed to deliver a Business plan ( I would see this as KPI given our positon)

2. He extended his recent (and questionable) trip to Wimbledon with an additional week in Paris (with his phone turned off) and

3. As stated elswhere on this thread, was Gardner's (but not the rest of the selection panel's) choice - the recommened candidate was Geelong's CFO

Not sure what to belive, perhaps the Press Confrence will add some clarity.

That said, the new Pres is entitled to make his call...

I'm still well and truly on board

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
