Very candid and honest interview ... a lot more honest than I would've expected.

I wonder if anyone will pick him up next season.

Yeah maybe the Yakandanda football club.

That is a really honest interview, great reading. I really hope he gets a farewell game, as he's given us great service over his career.

Not a bad interview..... at least Yze is realistic about where his future is..... Unfortunately, it is not with the Melbourne Footy Club..... It is nothing short of a terrible shame that it will end this way (Melbourne & Yze) but we are no longer THAT sort of club!!

We are building an empire, not a retirement home! (no disrespect to anyone)

its true and its sad...but as yze said "we are rebuilding"...its the first time i can think of that the club is openly rebuilding from tehe bottom and up and trying not to accept mediocrity...(not implying yze is mediocre but his time has passed with MFC)

In a wierd way, it is interviews like this that make me so excited about our future.... For the first time in a long time the young kids are getting a solid run in the seniors.... Not since Hawthorn a few years back have I seen such committment to the young fellas.... And look where they are now!! :P

Bring it on!

PS. It hurts me so much to use Hawthorn as an example, due to the fact that I have a pure hatred for everything they stand for! How dare they make me cry at the football when I was young! Damn you Phukenara!!!! :(

Why do i think he has 300 games as his first priority rather than producing team football as per his actions in all 4 games for us this year

anyone else have that cynical view ?

Love reading this bit....

Have the coaches sat you down – to give you some clarity – about what the rest of the season and future holds for you at Melbourne?

'Bails' [Dean Bailey] is adamant you'll get picked on form – he's always said that. He hasn't sat any of us down and said he's not going to pick us anymore. He hasn't even said he's going to play young guys before me, but I just get that feeling from what's happened so far, but he's told me both times I've been dropped that my season is not over and that I've got plenty to offer. The whole list knows you're going to be picked on form, if it warrants it.

I love Yze. Our fowardline is rubbish, surely he can push back in at some stage. IF he doesn't, I wish him all the best elsewhere, he is a legend of this club, and he will not be soon forgotten.

He deserves a farewell game, to not so so would be a disgrace to the great man.

Bit like the boy who cried wolf !!! The kharma fairy comes to visit Adem . Some of us can remember the stuffing around he gave us in the past...Please.. dont bother passing the tissues this way!! He's entitled to a good future where ever he goes.. hes not entitled to anything else from this supporter

Thanks mate...happy days......next !!

Surely his form in the VFL has been good enough, Yze can pinch hit in the midfield (where he is a former All Australian), play off a half back and set up defensive rebounds and kick goals from a forward pocket.

I think it is just counter productive to play players like Bartram, Bode and Bell whose form has not warranted a game for MFC.

You pick the team on form. Full stop.

Sub issues like priority draft picks, Yze's salary and "blooding" young players are the reason he is not playing but these just should not be considered.

Basically I like it when Melbourne wins, and that is more likely when Yze is playing!

Good Luck Adem, a 300 game great - you deserve to be.

Posted

Probably won't be on the list next year, but he's been a great player for us.

He would be a great depth player to have for a team like the Bulldogs or the Swans, they've had a bit of luck with their mature age recruits. Or Brisbane, another classy forward to get the ball in to Brown and Brayshaw... Maybe Trav can put in a good word. I'd give him a 40-60 chance.

Posted

Sadly the problem for is not form or ability its the fact that he is unable to adapt.

Adem look at the tapes of your senior games this year. Every time you get the ball instead of doing the team thing you are trying to snap for goal from any angle or distance.

Footy is like evolution adapt or become extinct.

No. just you.. man, we live in a cynical world, really sad.... i happen to know adem really well, and it's not his go at all.

I feel your pain..............and I too am excited about what the future brings , with a complete list of young guys taking the field with the exceptions of Bruce and Whelan this week.

Incorrect. 300 games is too far away from the Ooze anyway. From what I saw in his 4 games was not what you saw. What I did see though is a player past his prime, with many unusual skill errors (which was not like him), and not being hard enough at the footy.

Adem Yze has been a terrific player for the MFC. Let's remember that of him, and wish him well for post-football. He has been a good ambassador for the club, and will continue to.

The general consensus here is that Adem is past it, and should not play another game.

If this is true, is DB being honest with him telling him selection is based on form?

If Bails does not believe Adem is in MFC's 2009 plans he should tell him now so Adem can make decisions about his future.

This great Demons servant deserves that surely.

Since when can you read "general consensus" as being "Dean Bailey"? The general consensus had written off Garland and Warnock and CJ ......and who have gave them a go against the general consensus.....Dean Bailey. :o

There is no firm evidence that Bails has made that decision nor does he have to do so. Adem is contracted for the rest of the year. There is no reason why this great Demons servant cannot start making decisions about his future now.

At one point he was one of my favourite players and I loved watching him play when he was on song.

He was a very good player for a long period of time for us and let's not just remember the last few years when age has caught up with him. I'd like to see him get a farewell game whether he goes to another club or not, he deserves it.

Posted

The simple reality with Adem is he's about to be 31 by seasons end. Thas not the end of the age scale you want to be in a market that values youth and some chance at a number of years service going forward. Adem really can provide neither of that. If he was a superstar who could provide a disproportionate return for time on field then he might pinch hit in a team with top four aspirations. But he's not.

He's now run into a regime who simply wont tolerate anything that doesnt suit its cause. In the past he had a very handy second in his corner by the name of Daniher. He no longer has this luxury.

Adem must know himself his future is outside of this club...and its unlikley to be at this level. I hope he can continue to enjoy his footy.

"" I've tried to have a good attitude at Sandy"" Many of us would have preferred this had been the m/o in earlier years for Melbourne. All in all you cant help but feel some chickens have come home to roost !! ;)

Posted

If DB has said to Adem that selection is based on form, does it follow he will get selected based on best afield for Sandy last week?

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
