Sylvia didn't do himself any favours either with his selfish attitude. Miller had a right to give him a talking to after he decided to miss the shot on goal instead of handballing to Miller who was open in the goal square.

As for Newton, he kicks an awesome goal and nearly takes mark of the year, but spends the other 100 odd minutes doing nothing. Massive waste of talent thus far. \

And to be perfectly honest, he shouldn't have kicked that goal. He had 2 players in space who were further out but on a much better angle, both of whom were a superior option to having a shot himself. Great goal, but the handball was the right option.

I don't think I can convey, without the use of a plethora of ad hominem insults, just how much Newton sh1ts me.

speaking of no improvement, i'm struggling to see where bell is going to improve. who would have thought at the start of the year that chris johnson would cement his spot in the backline and look a real part of our future, and daniel bell would battle to stay on the list.

In my opinion.....

Newton must go. He would have to be one of worst players to have played AFL in the last 10 years. He should be in the amateurs, having a regular cameo on almost football legends.

although that is a subjective opinion that has got to be one of the stupidest things i have ever read. And i visit big footy.

Selfish players who have little influence on games are not in high demand, unless you are Freo. If Sylvia is not dealt this year however, he might have no value left.

You visit big footy? Congratulations. I wouldn't have guessed by that post either.

A stupid subjective opinion is an oxymoron. Your just a moron.

oxymoron means two words that have opposite meanings used in conjunction. bitter sweet, loving hate, dark light.

subjective means that you are involved rather then distanced, objective and disinterested. From that basis yes you can have a stupid opinion or, if you prefer a less perjorative term, an unenlightened or ill considered one, like making a comment that someone is one of the worst players in the last 10 years at the start of their career rather than the end in particular a twenty year old KP. Even Isaac Weetra deserves that respect.

therefore my comment is not oxymoronic.

attack me for my comments worth by all means go ahead, but if you want to attack my language and call me a moron on the basis of that then i think it is you who is the moron.

He's a total waste of space. There is no room for improvement in this kid. Seriously. I'd rather have Carroll or White playing instead of him, because gives absolutely nothing and there's no positivity coming from him being in the seniors.

Couldnt agree more! Col Garland has pantsed a lot of us with his amazing improvement, but I am pretty confident that Newton is just no good. Even first gamer Maric knows it after he saw Newton make a lead 1 on 1 on the members wing and decided Miller against 2 opponents was a far better option. Drop Juice now and see what he does at Sandy again. He does not deserve a spot with his pathetic second efforts and a horrible habit of going to ground from very little impact. Disappointing!

a poor game from Juice...

will be in the barrell to get dropped, but he won't be delisted... he'll get at least 1 more year, he's only 21...

a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.”

A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence and a mournful optimist.

1657, from Gk. oxymoron, noun use of neut. of oxymoros (adj.) "pointedly foolish," from oxys "sharp" (see acrid) + moros "stupid." Rhetorical figure by which contradictory terms are conjoined so as to give point to the statement or expression; the word itself is an illustration of the thing. Now often used loosely to mean "contradiction in terms."

three different dictionary definitions. Conceed the point.

i conceed that my comment can be taken as a personal attack and i apologise.

He may as well be 28 as 21.

And exactly which spot do you have in mind for him? John Coleman he ain't.

He can barely mark and has zero ground skills apart from when he's burrowing into the turf in search of another rabbit.

Posted

Certainly has the Robbo disease of not holding his feet, and when he tackles it seems he has to really set himself for it, in that he has to go out of his way to get himsef into the frame of mind of tackling rather than it being a natural action.

And that goal, i said straight away to my mate that i'd drag him for it, he agreed. Selfish play, but he can feel safe alongside Sylvia (and apparently Dunn) in that category

Maric should have honoured the lead; Newton had a few metres on his opponent.

Agreed. Add Newton - untradeable.

trade: newton, sylvia, bell, whelan, robbo

Keep Whelan; he and Robbo are too old anyway to be tradeable.

retire: yze white holland (neitz)

And McDonald

keep wheatley, mcdonald

Just Wheatley

Be lucky to be able to trade anybody this year; Sylvia maybe a 3rd rnd, Bell the same.

I have had it with Newton. Get rid of him now. I cannot stand his lack of effort, dropped chest marks and just plain poor body language and overall demeanour. Doesn't give the team anything. Meanwhile Carroll White and Yze are busting a gut at Sandy trying to get back in the seniors. Yes I know Newton's much younger but youth shouldn't be an excuse for no effort. He's meant to be highly skilled: one goal that should have been a pass to Morton doesn't qualify as skilled when you later drop a chest mark.

As for Bell: absolutely shocking first half, but a much improved second half. His third quarter was some of the best football he's played in over 12 months.

Sylvia should look at how hard Bartram, Buckley and Jones worked yesterday. He should be ashamed with his effort yesterday. I doubt even Y_M could defend him.

Nathan Jones. No speed, Cant read the play. Get rid of him now and we might get something.

Delist/Retire: Isac Weetra, Jace Bode, Adem Yze, David Neitz, Jeff White, Daniel Bell.

And Holland.

Bell might have some worth to the Adelaide clubs but we might have to just delist him to open up pick 35 in the ND.

I presume that both Valenti and Wona will be promoted which means that for the club to have 5 picks in the November draft and 1 in the psd then 8 players will need to be moved on.

Neitz, Yze, White and Holland will all have to retire.

Most likely Weetra and Bode will be delisted.

So that's 6, need another two to go, more if Bailey wants more picks.

McDonald and Whelan aren't going to retire, they'll both go onto the vets list (?). Newton has signed an extension. Jamar is needed in the ruck for at least insurance, but will most likely shoulder it with PJ.

Bell looks very shaky. Carroll, Robertson & Wheatley would have to be nervous, purely because of their age. Did I read somewhere that Carroll has a year to go on his contract?

I can't see any of last years draftees going, too early to make a judgement call on them. Meesen perhaps? I don't think Moloney is as safe as some people think he is. Bartram and Dunn are both lucky imo, they have youth on their side and there are others in front of them. As the list develops and improves I think they'll struggle to hold their spots though.

So I think the final 2 will be Carroll & Meesen, but I wouldn't be surprised if Bell, Wheatley and/or Robo go as well depending on how many kids Bailey wants.

Existing contracts may complicate things though, for example Melbourne may not be able to afford to delist Carroll. If that's the case Bell will most likely go if not contracted.

With the rookies Wona and Valenti to be promoted, Spencer will be retained and Zomer dropped off to make way for more kids.
