I had to laugh today when, during the West Coast game, the crowd had gone quiet, Commetti (I think) suggested

"even the supporters are tanking..."

at least I thought it was funny!

Yeah. The percentage thing...

Naitanui was in their rooms not too long ago...

That is the best sign yet that Naita is the one we want. Other clubs want him enough to tank!!!

do we play them here or there? because there is no way we could win over there...

and do they play freo anytime soon, because i doubt even WC are worse than freo, and im not sure if the local pride would allow them to tank against their cross town rivals...

It's still in our hands at least. Seems quite possible we will again find ourselves at a crossroads when we play WCE, as was the case against Carlton last year. Let's hope we have the minerals to do the right thing this time around.

Its still a pretty big Points For and Against differential. Even if we beat them at the G later in the year they will probably still have a better percentage than us assuming they dont get too many more 100 point floggings. i reckon they will be very happy to finish bottom 2 and will gladly take either Natanui or Rich.

Its a monty. WCE will tank against us for sure. WorSfold will rebuild the quickest way he can. Although talk is they want Rich to rebuild their midfield - but talk is cheap.

I love Dennis. It's not just that he's so good, because the standard of the other commentators is so bad, but he has a certain integrity about him the same way Tim Lane does. The comment was a crack up. Geelong were so dominant early some of the West Coast supporters started to clap a Geelong goal, hence Dennis' comment.

Posted

Even if they don't tank, they won't need the No. 1 draft pick. History shows they can rebuild without having the best picks in the draft. They'll be winning finals games again next year probably.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cox, Braun, Fletcher and Embley play about 20 games between them for the rest of the year.

Cox is only playing because by the looks of it they don't have another ruckman.

As for Fletcher, no idea why he's playing because he's useless (particularly compared to what he used to be).

Whoever mentioned Fre vs WC, pretty sure Freo won the derby in rivalry round

Dont bet on it.

There club culture has been destroyed by the Cousins and Co saga. Many of the players are playing on reputation and dont want to be there. Worsfold may not be around in 18 months. He has seen his blueprint based around Judd, Cousins and Kerr destroyed. He is part of the culture that tolerated it and they are paying the price.

FWIW, I admired the WCE supporters who stayed to the end. They deserved better from their side. A 23 goal belting at home at Subiaco is astonishing. The players half hearted efforts make Stephen Milne look like a team player.

West Coast had 14of it's premiership players in the side and still got flogged.

The 'nutrition' that their Coach, Worsfold the Chemist, is giving them can't be working as well as it did for the premiership year.

We need to be very carefull. It`s obvious what the Eagles are doing and they can`t have him. We need to keep losing and keep losing by plenty. Nick Nat is ours !

channel 10 game, commetti calls for 7... it was actually michael voss who said it...

i don't think they're tanking, i just think they're really bad... teams may tank when it gets closer to the end of the season and it's the difference between a priority pick, but they won't tank with the season only half over...

we saw mid way through last year when the eagles had cousins out, judd was missing injured that they struggled... i think the bombers beat them, and they were horrible last season... this just shows how important those key midfield players were to the eagles...

as for the WCE supporters, they're used to success and nothing else... no surprise many of them left when they were on the end of an absolute hiding...

The 'nutrition' that their Coach, Worsfold the Chemist, is giving them can't be working as well as it did for the premiership year.

The ingredients of the 'nutritional supplements' from Dr. Worsfold are a lot different this year than they have been in the past....

A few examples of some changes to the recipe

Premiership year : Speed, Ice, Crystal, Crank, Glass, Uppers

(“Crystal” is a powder form of methamphetamine that is injected, inhaled or ingested. “Ice” and “glass” are smokable forms of methamphetamine and “crank” comes in tablets or capsules.)

Immediate Effects: In small doses, uppers increase mental alertness and physical energy.

*Also we cannot forget the doses of coke included in the "Premiership Cocktail" where the effects appear soon after a single dose and may include euphoria and increased alertness

This year : Mixture of barbiturates including Amytal, Nembutal, Seconal and Tuinal. Also a healthy dose of Benzodiazepines such as Valium and Librium and newly available Xanax and Ativan.

Immediate Effects: Short-term effects appear rapidly after a single dose and disappear usually within a few hours or even days. A small amount will characteristically produce calm and relaxation, inducing slowed breathing and reflexes. A larger dose may produce effects similar to that of drunkenness, including slurred speech, staggering, slowed reactions, loss of inhibition, and intense emotions often expressed in an extreme and unpredictable manner.

The above information is not entirely accurate!

But just because it didn't happen, doesn't mean it's not true!

I get the feeling Cox will be rested for the remainder of the year. They'll fix his foot up. Not only does this destroy my Dream Team but it reduces significantly their chances of more wins.

:lol::lol: re: Milne. Feel for their supporters, but really who cares. From chocolates to boiled lollies. MELB v WCE Round 20 MCG.

They brought in Fletcher, Kerr, Braun and Hansen against Geelong. A 23 goal defeat in front of their own crowd......the AFL should launch an inquiry and all WCE players swabbed.....probably too late now anyway!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
