Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

2018 Player Reviews: # 25 Tom McDonald

FORWARD CLASS

Tom McDonald led the competition’s most prolific attack with 53 goals after missing the opening five games with a foot problem. Always a difficult match up for defenders with his strong marking and the huge tank that gets him around the ground where he can also be damaging.

Great year after missing the first 5 games has big shoes to fill if Hogan goes.

Hogan has big shoes to fill if he stays IMO. Tom McDonald to me is in the top 10 best players in the league. A forward who can play ruck, wing, back, midfield (at a pinch), and actually kicks goals not points. Sign him up for 4 years.

Oh wait we already did!

No idea why I wanted to compare the two...but I had a random thought, would I take Tom, or Taylor Walker...

TMAC very important in fact straightens us up as  the ball comes in looking for him. The most relaxed kicking action for goal.

Tmac hands down in front of T Lynch any day.

Very crucial piece in our structure. Was behind the 8 ball but hit the ground running when he came in. Easily top 4 in players of importance.

very lucky to sign him up at an acceptable dollar and avoid the free agent circus.

2019 showed that his 2018 forward showing was certainly no aberration.

One of the very best pack marks in the league. That’s what I really like about Tom (and he can run all day)!

Awsome news from Demonland's resident time traveler.

In all seriousness though, I'm looking forward  (pardon the pun) to what he can produce in 2019, given that he had a pretty interrupted preseason this year with his foot issues.

His goal kicking is generally absolutely supurb.  I had a bit of a dig on Demonland at one point that his goal kicking was off for a few games (cumulating with the Sydney game) there because he wasn't kicking at his usual +80% accuracy.  I was actually giving the guy a complement for his usual superhuman accuracy, but another poster thought I was being serious, took it to heart and thought I was being a bit harsh.  Tommy himself admitted later that week that his goal kicking hadn't been what it could have been, but that he'd identified a few things that he wasn't doing right, but that he'd done some practice that week and thought he had sorted it out.  Low and behold, from that point in the season onwards, his goal kicking was back to it's superlative normal.

His one grab pack marks are also such a treat to watch.  Love big Tommy Mac and really hoping that Oscar turns into a similar build and player in seasons to come.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
